Holidays

Mexico (June 99)
We took a holiday to Mexico in June '99 and had a fantastic time. If you get the chance to go to Mexico, take it!  Here we are on top of a Mayan step pyramid at Coba, three sides of which are still covered in jungle and the only thing you can see is green to the horizon.  The second image is us at Rio Lagartos, where flamingoes breed in mangrove swamps - and where they have horseshoe crabs!

Egypt (Nov 99)
No ancient construction is safe from us.  Egypt was next on the hit list.

Here are some pics from Luxor, Egypt.  First is me and Mostapha on the new bridge over the Nile.  He adopted us for the whole holiday and took us about in his horse and carriage.  A far superior way to see the sights than those huge tours in coaches, with the added bonus of getting to see more of the Egyptian way of life and culture.  A really good man.  Carriage 178 if you're ever in Luxor - tell him Stephen and Greta sent you, he'll remember.
Next is the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, where we buried Lady Twang's collar.  Much hugging and many tears confusing the locals.  This was one of the reasons we went to Egypt, famed for it's cat cults.  Twang now has a fine view over the Nile valley from a position to the right of the steps, beneath Sekhmet's (the lioness goddess) paws.  We do miss her so much.  "Mad cat people", what else can you say.
Finally, a rather nice picture (well, Gretty does have a Media degree) of a statue of Sekhmet in Luxor museum.

Kenya (Mar 00)
Details on their way.

Thailand, Laos and Cambodia (Oct 00)
Lots of stuff on its way.  There is so much to tell that it's going to get it's own page...here.

Iceland (Apr 01)
Details on their way.  Odd place!

Tunisia (July 01)
Details soon, but in a nutshell - DO NOT GO!  Other than to Matmata, where they filmed Star Wars, which is very nice.
