ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, WASPERTON Updated June 2025 Mists in May and heat in June There is no doubt that a calm or warm June which would give plenty of night-time dew could combine and help towards an acceleration in crop and plant growth. Also: A dry May and leaking June makes Now the figures show that a dry May and a wet June gives good results for barley. The most frequent weather pattern is stormy, between 1st and 4th June the first wave of cool stormy summer weather arrives. Then fortunately a dry spell 5th to 11th, peaking on the 7th. However the 12th and 14th gives a second phase of cool, wet, stormy weather, then a third lot from the 20th. Looks a bit of a lousy month from these statistics. The Churchyard is doing well at the moment. The spring bulbs have had an excellent year. The daffodils lasted for ages, a real picture and now the primroses have multiplied strongly, conditions must have been just right for them. Our trees and bushes were trimmed by specialists, lower branches etc, for safety. Also the owl box has moved up the tree to a better position, it was a bit too low we discovered. Owls please note that we have a vacancy, very low rent, applications awaited. I am watching the bird boxes for residents as we go forward, nothing yet but our summer visitors are here. Keep looking and fingers crossed. As you will see the mowing has started, our excellent team working well. A big thank you team. You wouldn't know that our sit on mower had been idle and wouldn't start. Then Roy's friend Mike had a look to find jets blocked in the carburettor, then magic, brrm brrm. People are so good, thanks both. Welcome summertime we love to have you rain or shine, please can we have a bit more shine? Thanks to you for your support, you are always welcome walking through, we love to see you as you know. Mike Porter
