Fibrosing Alveolitis Fibrosing alveolitis is a rare condition affecting the lung tissue. There are a number of similar conditions, known as restrictive airways disease, and many are brought on by industrial exposure to dust, such as coal dust (silicosis) or slate dust (pneumoconiosis). These conditions are associated with cough and breathlessness, and are usually progressive. Conventional treatment is usually based upon the use of steroids to try and reduce the underlying inflammatory process. However, this usually only slows the process down, and there is inevitable progression of the condition with increasing breathlessness, and patients often need oxygen at home to help with the difficulty breathing. Complementary and Alternative Medicine can help, and may alleviate some of the breathlessness and help slow the progression of the condition. How Can We Help?We offer a caring, alternative approach to your needs. We specialise in Complementary & Alternative Medicine, and there are a number of approaches that can help. Each person is dealt with individually. Each persons needs are different. The actual treatment will vary from person to person. There are a number of factors that may aggravate the condition, and these include stress, allergies, or poor immunity. These need to be considered and dealt with as necessary. We sometimes recommend a number of tests to evaluate the condition, and to exclude these aggravating factors. Following an initial assessment, or a free initial consultation (may not be available at some Clinics), a recommendation will be made regarding suitable tests or treatment. What Tests Do You Need?A number of tests may be of benefit, including the following:
We usually recommend a Vitamin and Mineral test for most of our patients, as vitamin or mineral deficiencies can contribute to many health problems. It is not always necessary to carry out any tests in restrictive lung conditions, as it is often possible to obtain good relief from the symptoms with a number of approaches. What Advice Do You Get?The actual advice given depends on the individual. Dietary changes are not usually necessary in restrictive lung conditions, although it may be required if tests show that there are food sensitivities present. The actual treatments recommended will vary. Acupuncture, Reflexology, VacuPressure or others may be useful. Nutritional, herbal and homoeopathic medicines can also be very effective. An effective treatment programme based on the therapies discussed above is recommended during your consultations. How Successful Is Our Treatment? Our treatment programmes are usually very successful. We often succeed where others have failed. The reason for this is due to the tests carried out which enables us to tailor the treatments according to the specific needs of the individual and also due to the experience we have gained over the years together with the efficacy of our unique, specialised products herbal, homoeopathic and nutritional. Most if not all of our patients have benefited from out treatment programmes. Individual treatment programmes may be complex, and may need some commitment to follow successfully. Dietary changes together with a number of supplements, herbal and / or homoeopathic medicines to take every day, together with weekly treatments may be required for a period of at least 10 12 weeks. How Much Does it Cost?It is impossible to estimate the cost in any individual person, as the treatment recommended will vary from person to person. The tests that may be required also vary in cost, and further information may be found together with information relating to each specific test. The costs of individual therapies and products also differ, and you should refer to current price lists, or make enquiries at the Clinic. We always offer a FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION, and further information regarding cost may be discussed at this time.
