There isn't must to see or do around Khamis Mushayt. But there are
things you can see and wonder round, if you like that sort of thing. As
it happens, I do. About 25 km along the road to Riyadh from Khamis
are what we call the "lakes". They Probably have a real name, we just don't know
what it is.
When you remember that the surrounding terrain is normally just dirt,
rocks and more dirt, rocky hills and mountains. To find a water oasis
only 25 km away is quite a find, and here it is... In case your wondering, yes, they are my feet. I just didn't have the energy to get up so I took the photo while lying on that rock you can see me on. It's hard to depict just how remote you can be, unless you've been here that is. You'll just have to take my word for it :o)
There a times when you just want to get away, even if it's just for a little while. This is where I escape to. It's quiet, secluded with nothing more exciting happening that the odd bird of prey hunting some poor little furry animal.
These were taken a little way around the other side of that big rock I was lying on a moment ago. The car is parked just out of view, behind this bridge. Did I mention that the lakes are on the weapon firing range ? Oops :o)
There isn't much to look at, just a lot of big rocks to climb and takes photo's from. Thats "Bessie" in the distance and on the other side we have a few goats wondering about the place. There are a lot, a lot, of goats where we are.
Where would you like to go to now ?
