synopsis:

Comedi gyfoes wedi ei lleoli yn ystod wythnos yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yw Y Groesffordd. Ar fore Sadwrn agoriadol y Brifwyl mae yna ddamwain wedi digwydd ger croesffordd ar gyrion Llandeilo. O ganlyniad i hyn gwelwn dagfa draffig sy'n llythrennol yn methu symud. Yn y dagfa mae pedwar cymeriad: Cheryl a Gaz, pâr o'r Cymoedd, ar ei hymweliad cyntaf â'r Brifwyl; Huw, perchennog garaj lleol, sy'n ymuno â'r Orsedd yn ystod yr wythnos; a'i wraig Lowri. Rhannwn ym mhrofiadau y pedwar yma wrth iddyn nhw daro ar draws ei gilydd a thrwyddynt cawn bedwar persbectif gwahanol a difyr ar ein diwylliant.

The Crossroads is a highly topical piece, set during the Eisteddfod week on the festival's opening Saturday.
Four characters, on their way in their cars, get caught in a traffic jam on a crossroads near Llandeilo before arriving at the Eisteddfod tent park.
The Four characters include Cheryl and Gaz - a couple from the Valleys visiting the Eisteddfod for the first time - Huw, a local garage proprietor who has been elected to the Gorsedd of Bards and Lowri his wife who works for the Welsh Tourist Board.
The four while away the time by pontificating about the Eisteddfod. This provides an opportunity for some novel slants on the Welsh cultural establishment

The official theatre performance at the National Eisteddfod Bro Dinefwr 1996 - performed solely at the Eisteddfod due to the nature of the set which includes two real cars and a caravan

adolygiadau / reviews:

"The play is frenetic stuff requiring considerable vocal and physical resources. The four actors are well equipped to deliver such a comedy. Shelley Rees as Cheryl is a human dynamo of a performer with a laugh that would shatter a whole pub full of glasses. Dewi Rhys Williams gives a remarkable high energy, high decibel performance as Huw the ideas man"
Western Mail 7/8/1996

"Mae gennym ni yma y Teipiau Cymreig Nodweddiadol, i gyd yn anghydnaws styc efo'i gilydd yn yr un lle, pawb (bron) isio bod yn rhywle arall, yn smalio eu bod nhw'n rhywun gwahanol, a dim posib dianc....Rhyw hanner ofni yr ydw i fod Geraint Lewis wedi bod yn bry ar y wal mewn llawer cartref Cymreig dros y misoedd diwethaf: mae'r Groesffordd mor 'true to nature' nes bod rhywun yn arswydo rhag cael datgeliadau mwy preifat"
