Comedi angeuol yw Largo Desolato am athronydd o dan bwysau, nid
yn unig gan gynrychiolwyr y wladwriaeth i ddiarddel ei waith,
ond hefyd gan gyfeillion a chefnogwyr sy'n ei annog i sefyll yn
gadarn. Mae Havel yn adrodd stori am frwydr ysbrydol; am chwilio
heb ddarganfod; am unigrwydd a'r frwydr i oresgyn unigrwydd. Mae
iaith ac ardull yn themâu pwysig iddo; trwy iaith, sy'n
wead unigryw o'r lenyddol a'r cyffredin y cawn ddarganfod ei arddull
Largo Deslato is a 'lethal comedy' about a philosopher under
pressure, not only from agents of the state to repudiate his work,
but also from fairweather friends and supporters who urge him
to make a stand. Havel relates a story of spirtitual struggle;
of searching and not finding; of loneliness and the fight to defeat
loneliness. Language and style are important themes for Havel:
his language a particular weave of the literary and the banal,
with the style of the play encoded in the text.
