    Ovulation Test

The Ovulation Test is a method of testing for ovulation.

During the female hormonal cycle, ovulation usually takes place at mid-cycle.   This is the time that the woman is most fertile.

In those who suffer with infertility, it is important to discover if ovulation is taking place.   Even with a normal menstrual cycle, it does not necessarily follow that ovulation is taking place.

The Ovulation Test can be used alongside the Hormone Test or the Female Hormone Profile in assessing the female menstrual cycle, particularly in cases of infertility.

    Who Should Have the Test?

The test is available to all menstruating women.

It is particularly valuable for those with infertility, or those wanting to maximise their chances of conceiving.

The test kit can be used for up to 2 years.

    How Is It Done?

The Ovulation Test is carried out using a special test kit, using a small amount of saliva.

There are comprehensive instructions provided in the test kit, but basically a small amount of saliva is placed on a special lens unit.   This is allowed to dry, and then a visual inspection made through the lens, using a special light included.

The findings are compared with the charts provided, and the findings will indicate whether you are ovulating or not.

The results are available to you within 5 - 6 minutes.

How Accurate are the Results and What Do They Mean?

No test can be 100% accurate.  This particular test has been proven to be 98% accurate.

It is convenient and simple to use.

The results give a clear indication of when ovulation is taking place.

    What Advice Do You Get?

If there are no problems with ovulation, then you can use the test to enhance your chances of conceiving.   The ideal time for conception is 2 - 3 days either side of ovulation.

If it becomes obvious that ovulation is not taking place, then we can advise certain treatments or therapies to encourage the process.

Treatments advised by Better Health include various nutritional, herbal and homoeopathic medicines, and will be advised by your practitioner.

It may be necessary to carry out further testing, for example the Hormone Test or the Female Hormone Profile, in order to make further recommendations regarding treatment.

    How Much Does it Cost?

The current cost of the Ovulation Test is £25.   It may be available on mail order, and a carriage charge will be additional.

Further charges apply for any further consultations, tests or treatments, and these will be discussed with you fully as necessary.
