Hormone Test

Hormone Testing at Better Health is carried out using the BEST Screening system.

This is a probably the most advanced screening method available using Electro-Dermal Screening for testing.

Electro-Dermal Screening is a method of taking measurements from certain acupuncture point on the body - usually hands or feet - and using the results to gain information about various items, such as allergies, vitamin and minerals, hormones, and so on.

The hormone test carried out can assess:

• adrenal function
• thyroid function
• the female hormones
• male hormones
• some other hormones

It will NOT measure the levels of the hormones in the body, but will indicate whether there is an imbalance of those hormones.

It WILL help detect imbalances in the hormones that may not be severe enough to be found on the usual blood tests.

Who Should Have the Test?

The test is available to everyone.

It would be particularly valuable for the following:

• Those with low energy, fatigue, poor sleep
• Those with chronic stress or anxiety
• Females with any menstrual or menopausal symptoms
• Males with loss of libido, impotence or other conditions related to hormones
• Couples with infertility
• Any one with chronic illness or ill-health.

A hormone test would be helpful in the assessment of any of the conditions above, but may form the part of a fuller screening test (Full Body Screening).

How Is It Done?

The test is carried out by taking a series of measurements from certain points (Acupuncture points) on either the hand or the foot.

A simple probe is placed on the skin over these points - there are no needles involved - and a reading is taken and recorded.

The hormone test being carried out will include a number different hormones relating to the adrenal gland, thyroid, female hormones, male hormones, and others.

The results are printed out immediately after the test is carried out, and the results can be discussed.

How Accurate are the Results and What Do They Mean?

No test can be 100% accurate. This test is as accurate as any other test available for hormones, but gives you different information to that obtained by blood tests.

At Better Health we have always approached new treatments, new tests and new therapies with an analytical, scientific approach – are they as good as they claim to be?

Currently available tests for hormones have always been blood tests, although we do offer saliva testing for a number of hormones also. This particular hormone test has the advantage that it can assess all the hormones together, whilst the saliva tests are limited to a particular gland or group of hormons.

In addition the test can uncover early imbalances in the hormones, before saliva or blood tests can discover any abnormalities. Treatment can then be initiated much earlier, with greater effect.

What Advice Do You Get?

If the results are normal, then all the hormones are balanced appropriately.

You must however bear in mind that hormones may vary from day to day, and it is not possible to completely exclude a hormonal problem with a single hormone test.

If the results show a hormone imbalance, then further assessment may be appropriate, and this would be discussed with you. However, treatments can usually be advised to help improve the hormone levels.
