    Insomnia / Sleep Problems

Most people have experienced sleep problems at some time in their lives, but few suffer from constant recurrent sleep problems or insomnia.

Often we come across people who sleep through the night, but do not wake up feeling refreshed. In this case there is no problem with the duration of sleep, but the quality of the sleep is poor - it is not refreshing as it should be.

There a numerous causes for sleep disturbances. A careful history is the key to a proper diagnosis. There may be associated depression or anxiety, or there may be a high level of toxins, such as in heavy metal toxicity. Often there are hormone problems such as adrenal problems or stress.

The conventional treatment of insomnia is most inappropriate, as the main medicines used are tranquilisers such as benzodiazepines - temazepam or nitrazepam and others. These often cause more problems, and often make sleep problems worse in the long term as they become addictive.

    How Can We Help?

We offer a caring, alternative approach to your needs.

We specialise in Complementary & Alternative Medicine, and there is much that can be done to help sleep disturbances with this approach.

Each person is dealt with individually. Each person’s needs are different. The actual treatment will vary from person to person.

There are a number of conditions that may predispose towards the development of sleep problems, and these include stress, anxiety, melatonin imbalance, other hormone imbalance, and so on.

We usually recommend a number of tests to evaluate the condition, and to exclude these predisposing conditions.

A number of therapies may be helpful, including herbal medicines, Acupuncture, Electro-Magnetic Therapy and many others such as Aromatherapy, Reflexology, VacuPressure, Counselling and Hypnotherapy.

Following an initial assessment, or a free initial consultation (may not be available at some Clinics), a recommendation will be made regarding suitable tests or treatment.

    What Tests Do You Need?

A number of tests may be of benefit, including the following:

    • Full Body Screening
    • Hormone Test
    • Melatonin Test
    • Vitamin and Mineral Test

We usually recommend a Vitamin and Mineral test for most of our patients, as vitamin or mineral deficiencies can contribute to many health problems.

It is not always necessary to carry out any tests in insomnia or sleep problems, as it may be possible to obtain good relief from the symptoms with a number of therapies.

    What Advice Do You Get?

The actual advice given depends on the individual.

As we specialise in Complementary and Alternative Medicine, our treatments are based on this.

The treatments recommended will depend on the underlying factors predisposing to the condition.

A comprehensive treatment programme – based on the therapies discussed above – is recommended during your consultations.

    How Successful Is Our Treatment?

Our treatment programmes are usually very successful. We often succeed where others have failed.

The reason for this is due to the tests carried out – which enables us to tailor the treatments according to the specific needs of the individual – and also due to the experience we have gained over the years together with the efficacy of our unique, specialised products – herbal, homoeopathic and nutritional.

Most – if not all – of our patients with sleep problems have benefited from out treatment programmes. Individual treatment programmes may be complex, and may need some commitment to follow successfully. Dietary changes together with a number of supplements, herbal and / or homoeopathic medicines to take every day, together with weekly treatments may be required for a period of at least 10 – 12 weeks.

    How Much Does it Cost?

It is impossible to estimate the cost in any individual person, as the treatment recommended will vary from person to person.

The tests that may be required also vary in cost, and further information may be found together with information relating to each specific test.

The costs of individual therapies and products also differ, and you should refer to current price lists, or make enquiries at the Clinic.

We always offer a FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION, and further information regarding cost may be discussed at this time.

(Free consultations may not be available at all the Clinics we visit.)
