    Upper Respiratory Tract Infections

Upper Respiratory Tract Infections include coughs, colds, flu, or other various types of infections affecting the upper respiratory tract, such as sinusitis, rhinitis, and so on.

Sinusitis and rhinitis can be acute infective conditions, but are more likely to be chronic conditions associated with allergy or food sensitivity, and are therefore discussed separately.

URTI's are usually associated with cough, runny nose, sneezing, sometimes with fever.   Usually the condition is short-lasting and does not lead to long-term effects.

However, at times, particularly in those with poor immunity, it may lead to more severe secondary complications such as pneumonia.

Conventional treatment has very little, if anything, to offer those with upper respiratory tract infections, but doctors often prescribe antibiotics unnecessarily, and this can lead to further immune suppression and other health problems.

Complementary and Alternative Medicine, however, has much to offer, and herbal medicines in particular, together with certain vitamin supplements, can be extremely effective in dealing with the condition and shortening the duration of the symptoms and preventing secondary complications.

    How Can We Help?

We offer a caring, alternative approach to your needs.

We specialise in Complementary & Alternative Medicine, and there are a number of approaches that can help.

Each person is dealt with individually. Each person’s needs are different. The actual treatment will vary from person to person.

There are a number of factors that may predispose to the condition, and these include stress, allergies, or poor immunity. These need to be considered and dealt with as necessary.

We sometimes recommend a number of tests to evaluate the condition, and to exclude these aggravating factors.

Following an initial assessment, or a free initial consultation (may not be available at some Clinics), a recommendation will be made regarding suitable tests or treatment.

    What Tests Do You Need?

A number of tests may be of benefit, including the following:

    • Full Body Screening
    • Allergy Test
    • Vitamin and Mineral Test

We usually recommend a Vitamin and Mineral test for most of our patients, as vitamin or mineral deficiencies can contribute to many health problems.

It is not always necessary to carry out any tests in URTI's, as it is often possible to obtain good relief from the symptoms with a number of approaches.   A simple approach using certain vitamin supplements, herbal medicines or phytonutrients, may be extremely effective.

Tests are often only recommended in recurrent episodes of URTI's.

    What Advice Do You Get?

The actual advice given depends on the individual.

Dietary changes are not usually necessary in URTI's, although a bland, low-residue diet will rest the body, which helps it devote its full energy towards dealing with the acute condition.

The actual treatments recommended will vary.  Acupuncture, Reflexology, VacuPressure or others may be useful.

Nutritional, herbal and homoeopathic medicines can also be very effective.

An effective treatment programme – based on the therapies discussed above – is recommended during your consultations.

    How Successful Is Our Treatment?

Our treatment programmes are usually very successful. We often succeed where others have failed.

The reason for this is due to the tests carried out – which enables us to tailor the treatments according to the specific needs of the individual – and also due to the experience we have gained over the years together with the efficacy of our unique, specialised products – herbal, homoeopathic and nutritional.

Most – if not all – of our patients have benefited from out treatment programmes. Individual treatment programmes may be complex, but are comprehensive, and in the treatment of URTI's are likely to be effective within a short period of time.

    How Much Does it Cost?

It is impossible to estimate the cost in any individual person, as the treatment recommended will vary from person to person.

The tests that may be required also vary in cost, and further information may be found together with information relating to each specific test.

The costs of individual therapies and products also differ, and you should refer to current price lists, or make enquiries at the Clinic.

We always offer a FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION, and further information regarding cost may be discussed at this time.

(Free consultations may not be available at all the Clinics we visit.)
