*Introduction*
- Breckenbrough School is a residential boarding school managed by the Society of Friends for pupils between the 9-16 with
emotional and behavioural difficulties and with high academic potential.
The school seeks to establish and develop working relationships between pupils and staff, to allow them to address their
problems and move forward. Where mistakes on the handling of relationships are made pupils are guided in ways of correcting
these errors. Boys are encouraged to cope with problems in acceptable ways and in maintaining self-control while being free
to air their point of view. It is through the development of this trusting and caring relationship that each pupil can be
encouraged to fulfil their academic, personal and social potential. Through learning to address difficulties and searching
for solutions our pupils can go forward to a worthwhile place within society.
- It is always important to remember this one concept above all:-
Boys come to Breckenbrough not because they have done such terrible things, but because of the things which adults and
society have done to them. They need our help to make sense of their often turbulent world and to release the potential for
achievement which is in each of them.
