synopsis:

"Roeddwn am osod stori Antigone mewn cyd-destun cyfoes, mewn gwlad fodern lle mae gwledyddiaeth yn beryglus, lle gall merch fonheddig wynebu angau am barchu coffadwriaeth brawd a laddwyd am herio'r Wladwriaeth.
Haerllugrwydd ar fy rhan i fuasai ceisio sgrifennu drama ar thema mor ddwys a'i lleoli mewn gwlad na ymwelais â hi erioed. Cymru yw'r unig wlad y gallaf honni ymwybyddiaeth weddol drwyadl ohoni a'i phobl a'u hanes. Allai pethau ofnadwy fel yna ddigwydd yma? Rydym yn bobl mor wareiddiedig, mor glen ac agos-atoch-chi, mor neis...."

adolygiadau / reviews:

"Roedd yn brofiad i fod yn rhan o Hunllef yng Nghymru Fydd, ac rwyn dweud 'bod yn rhan' yn fwriadol, oherwydd teimlais ein bod i gyd yn fwy na chynulleidfa. Cawsom glustfeinio ar ddigwydiadau a rhannu o brofiadau y cymeriadau. ...Fe lwyddodd Gareth Miles i roi i ni ddrama a fydd yn destun trafod am amser"
Y Faner , Awst 10-17 1990

"This is an ambitious, inventive, theatric, often dramatic work by Gareth Miles. The title translates as 'A Nightmare in Future Wales'. That future being in 2030 AD when Wales is a nominally independent state within the Free World of the United States, Canada, Japan and Australasia...
But Welsh independence is a facade. Wales is a banana republic ruled by juntas and semi-juntas on the political right, with just a sufficient veneer of democracy to keep Washington happy...
All this ideological scenario is credible, and goes with the somewhat labrynthine plot and set. The action is a promenade through the old Tudor mansion, Llancaiach Fawr, using videos and song, speeches, dialogues , demonstrations and monologues, jesting scenes and torture ones.
Gareth Miles is a master of dialogue and we have some fine dramatic scenes here and poignant ones as well....Alas , too often ideology and dialectics, and a need to make the audience trudge from room to room and watch unimaginative television speeches, dissipate the willing suspension of our disbelief"
