Beta News - Anarchy Online Beta 4

Funcom have recently announced the beginning of their Beta 4 stage for Anarchy Online. All 100,000+ applicants have been sent E-Mails with their beta codes and where to download the 600Mb Beta 4 file, so if you haven't checked your E-Mails over the past few days and applied to join Beta, even if it was a year or two ago, then it is definately worth doing so now.

Beta 4 will unlikely be lasting more than a few months, though Funcom have announced that the release date is as yet unknown. While it has been pushed back several times now, it is definately the wisest decision as there are still plenty of bugs to iron out.

Beta News - Dawn to Dusk?

Dawn developers, Glitchless, have been having trouble finding a suitable company to publish their upcoming MMORPG which is set for release at the end of this year. Beta is already a little behind schedule and with less than half a year before the estimated release, it seems likely to be put back a few months. Glitchless have therefore taken the measure of working on a strategy game called Dusk. Originally they had plans to use Dusk as the name for what would someday be 'Dawn 2', but with time pushing at deadlines, drastic measures have been called into effect. Dusk will utilise much of what has already been implimented in Dawn; that mixed with the 'relative' ease of creating games to fit the genre that Dusk will be in, means this side-project won't cause too much of a strain on the plans for Dawn. In fact, Glitchless have been working like the clappers for a few months already on this.

Does it spell the end of Dawn? No, to put it simply. It will almost certainly be delayed a little, but the idea is to gain further interest worldwide in Dusk so that more eyes turn towards Dawn and a suitable Publisher emerges. Quite understandable when you consider the investment that a publisher has to make, and how competitive the MMORPG market is right now with many large projects at about the same stage of development. Glitchless have also kept Dawn relatively low-key over the period, but by the response in Dawn's local online communities, it seems many are very concerned about the news and consider Dawn as having been discontinued, which fortunately is not the case.

Site News - Sections Added

It's been just over a week since I found myself without a program to develop the website with, but now things are running smoothly once again and I've completed three sections. There is now a review of Gunman Chronicles, a FPS which makes use of the Half-Life engine. Also I've started the Screenshots section with those I took throughout playing Gunman, a total of 24 screenshots in all (Two pages of twelve). Finally I've archived May's homepage news in case anyone needs to look up any addresses or compare notes etc.

Thanks,
