Shareware levels (needs version 1.4, unless otherwise stated)

Version 1.0 - available here.

Version 1.1 - available here.

Version 1.2 - available here.

Version 1.4 Required for most of the shareware add-ons, it's available here.

Pre 1.0 version (VGA) Early beta version. Several of the objects and portraits are not as developed as in the 1.0 version. There are also some differences in the maps, especially level 10. There are some bugs - the pushwall action is weird and you can't access level 10 from the secret elevator in level 1 (though it's on a supplied saved game). There's a 'read this' option from the menu and Chris Chokan has added his comments to this! Click here for the download.

Wolf/Spear SDL Shareware Versions SDL shareware versions of Wolf3D/Spear Of Destiny. Credits go to Ripper for his development work on the Wolf SDL port, BrotherTank for his compiling work, and id software/Apogee for the original shareware versions. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

Shareware add-ons

Many of the add-ons listed here were made and reviewed shortly after the original shareware sets were released. There are some really good sets here, but be prepared for some which may disappoint. I feel that the standard generally is not as high as that for Total Conversions, or even registered set add-ons.

10levels can be found here. It's difficult, but there's plenty of ammunition and first-aid around.

Alien Vs. Terminator Vs. Predator The 10 levels are unchanged from the original Wolf3D shareware set but most graphics and sounds have been changed. Many of the graphics come from Andy's Blake Wolf, Spiff's Astrostein and Sporb's Hi-Res Texture Pack and it all blends together quite well. By Dr. Von Loon. Available here. Needs either the exe from Wolf3D shareware v1.4 to play (or you can use the Newwolf Opengl port).

Aliens vs Predators Five levels though they are not that extensive. It's a fun set with cartoon type graphics, a new title screen and status bar. By David O'Rafferty. Click here for the download.

AlienWolf Set on a drifting space station, virtually all the graphics have been modified. Download it here.

Arctic Krieg v1.2 Seven levels for shareware that are not that complex though they are well decorated. Good graphics and sound changes. Although it still retains the Wolf3D atmosphere, it also has an 'Arctic feel'. By Sandy. Click here for the download.

AReyeP's 'Lost' First Add-on Steve recently found his first add-on again (made in early 1993, and presumed lost for a long time) on a backup disk. Well designed layouts. And it doesn't look dated at all! There are ten new levels and it's for shareware version 1.0. You can get it at AReyeP's and MCS's Wolfenstein 3D site (in the 'Other Stuff' section), or here. All files are included.

Assassination Has 'Lost Episodes' graphics and sounds. All ten levels are new and well designed. Some of the later levels have pushwalls that need to be opened to get to the exits. Overall, a very good set. By Bernt Hansen. Click here for the download. All files are included.

Assault On Auchfitz Nine level set (no secret level), made by Little Snabes. The levels are well designed, and it's a little more difficult to play than the original set, but there's a lot of first aid and ammo lying around. All files are included. XmasWolf is another shareware set available from Easyspace Shareware. Good modified graphics. The Santas and snowmen look so cute, but if you don't take them out they'll soon take you out! Layout and difficulty level are similar to the original. By Bob and Adrienne. Screenshots available here. Xmas Wolf SDL Version SDL Version is Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

Some shareware sets such as 3dBusse and W3Dcool have not been listed above, mainly because they require an earlier shareware version than 1.4 to play. Many of these are available from ftp.3dgamers.com. Look in the 'graphics' section.
