Recorded in the latter part of the previous year, New
Year's Day preceeded a UK tour in support of the third album
              War, which went silver
              on advance orders.
The Two Hearts Beat As One
single was released midway through the tour, being preferred to
              the inflammatory-sounding Sunday Bloody
Sunday which was released across Europe.
As the band returned from America to play the European festivals
again, their performance in Germany was given the seal of approval
with the single release of "40".
Performances from the tour were later released on the Under
A Blood Red Sky album, which was accompanied by the release
of the live version of I Will Follow
              in the USA.

Hey look! Peter Rowan's grown up! No longer having to bribe him
with Mars bars during photo sessions the band were fully able to
concentrate their promotional efforts in all the right places. Maybe
the lack of chocolate explains Peter's miserable visage?

"Die Eindecktung der Loreley '83" says the cover: "the discovery
of Lorelei '83" - a reference to the spectacular performance at
the televised Rockpalast show which finally helped U2 break into
Germany. This single was released late in 1983 to capitalise on
that performance and consolidate U2's growing following.

Releasing this the same week as "Seven And The Ragged Tiger" during
the peak of Duran Duran's fame meant that it would never make the
top of the charts. The low price however ensured that it remained
on chart for a run of 192 weeks, boosted significantly by the band's
Live Aid appearance on July 13th 1985, after which it charged back
              up to number 11.

This version of "I Will Follow" is taken from "Under A Blood Red
Sky". The B-side is a version of "Two Hearts Beat As One" that has
never been released in the UK, but which also cropped up on the
flip of the French release of "Two Hearts Beat As One".
