The exposure gained from their Live Aid appearance made The Joshua Tree U2's most eagerly anticipated album yet. They chose to release the first single With Or Without You a week after the album, which probably cost them a UK number one placing for that single.

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For was released to coincide with the European tour, while the release of Where The Streets Have No Name saw U2 return to the USA for a second leg of concerts.

In God's Country achieved a placing in the UK, despite being released in North America only, while in New Zealand they opted for a release of One Tree Hill dedicated to Greg Carroll.

The Special Olympics album A Very Special Christmas featured a version of Christmas, Baby Please Come Home recorded during a soundcheck in Edinburgh.

Had this single been released a week or two earlier rather than a week after after The Joshua Tree, it would more than likely have been U2's first ever UK No.1 single, but when your album amasses the highest first week sales total ever (300,000 or 500,000 copies depending on who you listen to - a record that stood until Michael Jackson's "Bad" was released six months later) you tend not to worry.
