Confusion and chaos both in the far and middle east over the last twenty four hours as Mars applies to its square with Neptune. Five powerful bombs have killed at least 14 people and injured as many as 100 others throughout Manila, in the Philippines. Two prominent figures on opposing sides of the Middle East crisis are killed, further threatening fading hopes for peace in the region. Israeli militant Binyamin Kahane and his wife died in a roadside attack while Dr. Thabet Thabet, an official from Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's party was shot dead by the Israeli army. The year ends on a note of craziness.

December 28th 2000 :-The planned summit between Israeli, Palestinian and Egyptian leaders has been cancelled. Sleet and snow is sweeping across much of Britain, bringing freezing conditions and threatening chaos on the roads as millions of commuters head back to work after the Christmas break The new Moon is now in Aquarius. The only planetary aspect is a waning square from Venus to Saturn exact 22-36 on December 29th. Mars is square Neptune on January 1st suggesting a prevalence to escapism (especially so as the Moon moves into Pisces at that time). December 27th 2000.

December 26th 2000. -- A Christmas Day blaze ripped through a shopping and commercial centre in central China, killing at least 309 people and raising fresh questions about building and safety standards in the country. CNN reports the fire started at 9:35 p.m. local time Monday. Some 750 police and fire-fighters rushed to the scene and within three hours had extinguished the blaze, the Luoyang Evening News said. The fire broke out in the cultural heart of Luoyang, an ancient city on the Yellow River in Henan province that was once China's capital. The astrological chart shows Jupiter on the MC square a Virgo ascendant, the fire started two hours before a partial eclipse.

Christmas Day 2000. The sun and moon put on a rare Christmas show as sky gazers across much of the continental United States witnessed a partial solar eclipse. Such an event won't happen again on Christmas Day for more than three centuries. Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat gives a cautious initial reaction to the peace plan proposed by the US, but stops short of rejection.

Indonesia's president on Monday said the latest spate of bombings that claimed the lives of at least 13 people was meant to stir up religious tensions. The nation's security minister warned there might be more attacks. ISRAEL'S Prime Minster, Ehud Barak, said yesterday that now was the time to make a crucial push for peace in the Middle East. Mr Barak said: "We are talking about a difficult discussion for both sides on the most painful of issues. "

Giant asteroid just misses Earth . December 24, 2000 09:55 (AEDT) A 50-METRE-WIDE asteroid capable of wiping out an entire city had missed Earth by only 800,000km, British astronomers said today. While the distance is twice the distance to the moon, it is a near miss in astronomical terms. If the object, nicknamed 2000 YA, had hit the earth, it would have made "a real mess of a city like London", Robin Scagell, vice-president of the Society for Popular Astronomy, said.

December 17th 2000. George W Bush, click here for his chart declared President of the USA from next January.

Astrologically his natal chart has Sun Cancer, Moon Libra, applying conjunction with Jupiter, and trining Uranus. A heavy Leo presence in his natal horoscope with the Ascendant, Mercury, Venus and Pluto in the sign of the Lion. Mars in Virgo, Aries MC. Saturn in Cancer. At home on the ranch sort of guy. Is there is little here of the merciful? We shall see.

The Daze uses 'relationship charts' to analyse political and personal relationships between persons in political life. We consider the information below to be in the public interest.

Bush's relationship with Putin click here. The Bush/Putin astrological relationship chart shows something of the 'Regal star'. The Sun was conjunct Reglius, heart of the Lion, at the mid point in time and space of the births of these two world leaders. Moon in Cancer, Mercury was in Virgo, Mars in Cancer. This relationship has the potential to be noble hearted. This one is fairly safe with all this cancerian energy. This relationship has some hope in it.

Testy times with these energies now in focus, and these two now in power. Venus conjunct Jupiter also dominates the astrological scene in this chart. Straddling the Capricorn/Aquarius cusp, these two hover aspect less. Sun, Pluto, trine in fiery trine. These two will do the deal, there is enough to get us through to the next scene. Scorpio rises, heavy precipitates. Intersting to watch these two at work and pay witness to the relationship between the UK and the US.

Sunday 10th December 2000 21-00 GMT

Attorneys for Al Gore and George W. Bush face a 4 p.m. EST deadline today for written arguments to the US Supreme Court, where oral arguments on whether a manual recount should proceed in Florida are set for 11 a.m. EST Monday. Neptune is opposite the USA natal Node. The Full Moon opposite US natal Mars, Pluto is inconjunct the US natal Sun.

Immediately before us just one Full Moon to fall on December 11th 2000. This one is in Gemini and is arrayed in a grand trine with Mars and Uranus in air signs. This is a positive lunation, one invoking invention interaction and intention. A very sociable vibration, a lunar 'pulse' of kinetic activity, is forecast for the period of 10th and 11th of December 2000. We are now in the deep 'foreshadow period' of both approaching eclipses.

Once the full moon is over (09-05 GMT) The Moon then makes a smooth trine to Mars (14-10 GMT), before becoming void of course for the rest of Monday. On Tuesday Venus is trine Jupiter, Mercury is conjunct Pluto and Venus is conjunct Neptune all on Tuesday all within nine hours. The Moon then is in Cancer. Tuesday looks to be a real cosmic sweetie. The rest of the week is astrologically quieter.

Saturday 9th December 2000

Another twist to the ongoing US election story. Gore wins legal appeal at the very hour Saturn retrogrades conjunct his natal Venus yesterday. Mars goes on to conjunct his IC (Lower point of the sky at his birth) on Sunday 10th. Jupiter Sextiles his Ascendant on Tuesday 12th, looks very good for him. Uranus opposition to his Mars at the Winter solstice look to be a shocker. The situation looks suddenly quite different, it was all Bush's way one week ago as Mars and the Moon were active in Bush's astrological chart, now it swings Gores way with this weighty Saturn transit, it looks special for Gore, but by the time of the solstice quite shattering! Bush looked grim yesterday on the television newsreels. His transits are not so strong right now and at the Winter Solstice on December 21st Uranus sextiling his natal Jupiter is the dominating aspect. Bush it seems looked out of it yesterday, but he still appears to have the edge, astrologically, at that time of Solstice.

Stay with the Daze for the duration!

Monday 4th December to Friday 8th December 2000.

We are now just eighteen days from the Winter solstice and we are in an eclipse season. Eclipses on Christmas Day and January 9th 2001 are ahead of us. Immediately before us just one Full Moon to fall on December 11th 2000. This one is in Gemini and is arrayed in a grand trine with Mars and Uranus in air signs. This is a positive lunation, one invoking invention interaction and intention. The Mars Uranus trine, exact last Saturday still has a 'presence' in the run up to this next Full Moon. Another trine aspect involving Jupiter and Neptune, exact next Saturday also influences the coming three weeks. This influence has a profound positive effect, a note of shared civility is probable. A very sociable vibration, a lunar 'pulse' of kinetic activity, is forecast for the period of 10th and 11th of December 2000. We are then in the deep 'foreshadow period' of both approaching eclipses. Capricorn and Cancer are the tropical zodiac signs in play. The Winter Solstice on December 21st sounds out a note of seriousness, a Scorpio moon surrounds that day, and then a period, nearly four days in length separating the Solstice point from the Partial Solar Eclipse on Christmas Day, ensues. Let the daze guide you through this period in time. First change in the ether occurs from Sunday Dec. 3rd, 19-30 GMT, as Mercury enters Sagittarius, after a long time in Scorpio. (Except for a brief, matter of hours, re-entry into Libra at the time of the US election, that explains a lot!, Mercury has been in Scorpio since September 28th 2000.) This Sagittarian entry heralds a change in attitudes, and a movement to more vociferous communications. Mercury stays in Sagittarius for until just before Christmas.

Monday 4th Dec.:- Moon in Pisces at first quarter. Venus applying trine to Saturn. Sun conjuncts Pluto. Deeply powerful thoughts feelings and actions. An important day. Pluto aligned on the far side of the Sun, distant but deliberate.

Tuesday 5th Dec.:- Moon enters Aries 14-15 GMT. After a slow start this one burns hotly. Excitement and urgent aggression bust forth from the lunar Aries ingress. A tendency to go over the top with exaggeration and bad judgement is highlighted for the next two days.

Wednesday 6th Dec. Moon in Aries, Mercury applies to an opposition with Jupiter, but the opposition is made easy as Mercury sextiles Neptune today. A racy day.

Thursday 7th Dec. Moon in Aries, enters Taurus 22-00 GMT.

Friday 8th Dec. Moon in Taurus, Venus enters Aquarius 09-00 GMT. and begins to creep up on Neptune, a 'hearty' atmosphere prevails now for two and a half days. This period is one of fullness and rancour. The full moon is nearly with us. Stand by for cosmic 'ripples' as on Sunday 10th December a Moon Jupiter conjunction occurs trine to a conjunction of Venus and Neptune. The full Moon follows hot on the heals of this 'ripple'.

Sunday 3rd December 2000. The American election debacle continues although it seems to be clearer that George Bush will win the presidency. On Friday 1st court rulings were made against Gore. Bush now surges. Mars today is trine Uranus, this is the positive and dynamic aspect which the next full Moon 'hooks into'. The News as this aspect peaks is positive:- The News now reports Israel's Justice Minister Yossi Beilin says a Middle East settlement could be concluded in the 50 days before Bill Clinton leaves office.

The main human news event in the UK from November 27th has been the murder of a ten year old boy in south London. The news now speaks of the father of murdered 10-year-old Damilola Taylor who has visited the spot where his son was killed and wept for his "beautiful, beautiful boy". Police have today arrested three suspects. The Astrological horoscope erected for the time of the murder, show Uranus conjunct the MC, and Moon and Pluto setting the western horizon of London. Gemini was rising. This event captured the nerve of the nation.
Friday December 1st 2000.

Friday December 1st looks to us here at the Daze to be the BIG ONE for George W Bush. On this day Mars is conjunct his Moon by transit, on the very same day Progressed Moon is conjunct his progressed Mars. Also the Sun today squares his Mars. Saturn sextiles his Saturn. At the very least we will see a surge of adrenaline and emotion for Bush. It looks to be an interesting day.

In the skies today Mercury is opposite Saturn (14-30). This planetary aspect is a symbol of the sombre and the serious. At the same time Mars is applying to a waning trine to Uranus (exact on Saturday 2nd DEC, at 16-00 GMT). This aspects adds a surge of excitement and a twist of fate to proceedings. The Moon, now crescent in phase, is in Aquarius over these two days. She enters Pisces on Sunday at 03-30 GMT, and reaches first quarter on Monday 4th.

In the astrological 'background' all over the weekend, the Sun approaches to a conjunction to Pluto, which is exact also on Monday 4th December. It all adds up to an intriguing mix of planetary energies, and we guess a suprising start to the month of December.

Monday 27th November 2000.

George Bush has some pretty difficult transits this coming week, starting yesterday with Mars square his natal Sun. Today Venus his square his Moon. Tuesday sees Mercury square his Venus, and Venus square his Jupiter.

Also Slobodan Milosevic seems to be making a political come back. The New Moon of Saturday is trine his natal Pluto Moon conjunction.

In the UK the Sarah Payne murder case has been geared up after the discovery of clothing. Mercury, this last weekend, when the clothing was discovered was conjunct the MC of the Chart for the moment the Police received the 'missing person' call..

Monday 27th sees the (still) New Moon void of course all day. This is not the friendliest of weeks astrologically. The Sun builds up to the opposition with Jupiter, which peaked early today, and again all week Mercury builds to a grim opposition with Mercury. Feel the vice grip hard this week.

Tuesday 28th sees the Moon in Capricorn. The world spins in the wake of the Jupiter opposition. The gas giant is closest to Earth.

Wednesday 29th the Moon conjuncts Venus in Capricorn at 18-00 GMT. Stark atmosphere. Grounded!

Thursday November 30th will witness a more 'lighter' atmosphere prevailing as the Moon , now crescent enters Aquarius shortly after 14-00 GMT.

Friday sees the peaking of Mercury opposite Saturn. Potentially a sombre vibration to world affairs.

Sunday 26th November 2000.

Today sees a little easing of the tensions of yesterday, but there is a definite bloated feel to events and experiences as the Jupiter opposition builds to climax. Yesterdays news saw the international Environmental Conference break up, caused, it is reported, by the 'negative' attitude of the American delegation. America has Saturn Square Natal Moon right now, its astrological credentials right now are bleak, self preoccupied, introspective and dull. Saturday 25th November 2000

The New Moon in Sagittarius is tonight at 23-12. This is quite a tough lunation, mainly because the New Moon is opposite Jupiter, preceded by a difficult day astrologically, as Mercury squares Uranus. The New Moon opposition to Jupiter is made 'easy' (a little) by Neptune. The most positive outcomes from today may well be in creative, musical and artistic endeavours. The News today is 'weak'. The American election battle drags on.

SPEAK TO YOU AFTER THE NEW MOON

WEEK:- MONDAY 20th November to FRIDAY 24th November 2000.

Monday November 20th 2000. The Moon is in Virgo today, trine Saturn. The Saturn opposition of yesterday dominates all news stories. All planetary activity, a fair bit over the next ten days, now leading us to the New Moon on Saturday November 25th, the last New Moon before the partial Solar Eclipse on Christmas Day.

The New Moon on Saturday is opposite Jupiter, and it figures strongly on the local angles of London.

On Tuesday 21st, the Last day of Scorpio, the Moon is in Libra, conjunct Mars 9 p.m.. Both the Moon and Mars building to a waxing square Venus all day. Not the smoothest of rides this day.

On Wednesday 22nd The Sun enters Sagittarius shortly after Midnight (GMT) A lunge forward, beware of the flying debris!. Venus squares Mars, a clash of emotions, the Moon is void of course in Libra from 08-30 GMT. A great potential for inertia. The day promises so much, then fails to deliver.

On Thursday 23rd a balsamic Moon enters Scorpio at 8 am, Mars is applying to a sextile aspect to Pluto. A wilful blend of action and power is the hallmark of today.

On Friday 24th Mars sextiles Pluto, the old Scorpio Moon conjuncts Mercury 13-00 GMT. Mercury applies all day to a square to Uranus. The working week ends on an edge, a touch of the uneasy. Standby for the New Moon on Saturday 25th November 23-12 GMT.

Turn on to the Daze

Saturday November 18th 2000

STILL IT BURNS ON !

GEORGE W BUSH'S hopes of claiming victory in the presidential election yesterday were dashed at the 11th hour when a state supreme court last night intervened to prevent the result of the Florida election being announced.

This weekend the opposition of Saturn to the Sun (square a last quarter Leonine accelerating and Waning Moon), focuses on Bush's natal Saturn nicely, while Gore takes the T-Square head on his natal Venus. Over the next few days Gore has a series of tough transits. Mars opposes his Sun Tuesday 21st Nov. at 22-30 GMT. In fact Mercury Venus and Mars challenge his astrological natal chart in the course of the next few days. However the news story printed above occurred as he was undergoing tough aspects from the Sun and Saturn. It seems as if Gore benefits from tough planetary aspects, Bush certainly has the easier astrological road right now. The Daze views this ongoing political battle as an interesting opportunity for astrologers and those interested in astrology to follow this 'mundane' event as an 'experiment' into astrological trends.

So then this weekend is challenging, globally. The Saturn opposition peaks 12-42 GMT on Sunday 19th. Today sees the last quarter Moon square the opposition, peaking around 16-00 GMT.

More on next week to follow. Add this to your fab favourites.

Monday 13th Nov. 2000

Venus enters Capricorn today, the Moon conjuncts Jupiter in Gemini. There is a definite buzz to world events and a subtle turn to perspectives and fortunes. A positive note is sounded this week as Mars slowly builds up to a trine aspect with Jupiter in Air signs on Thursday, much good talking and thinking is indicated. This aspect is followed by a difficult last quarter Moon in Leo tightly square Saturn on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of November, resulting into a bit of a testy weekend. Wednesday of this week sees Mercury again square Neptune. Maybe a re run of last weeks confusion.

Sunday 12th Nov. 2000.

MORE than 170 skiers and snow boarders, many of them children, choked and burnt to death on Nov. 11th 2000 when fire swept through a packed funicular train trapped inside a mountainside tunnel in the Austrian Alps.
Only eight of the estimated 180 passengers are thought to have escaped the carnage after breaking the window of the rear carriage and scrambling to safety. Everyone else aboard perished in the darkness after the blaze erupted at 9.30am near Kaprun, 9,000ft above sea level.
Click here for the Astrological Chart of the event.

An outstanding total of four 'finger of fate' planetary patterns dominate this chart. One very tight involving the Moon, Pluto and the Mid Heaven, the other involves the Ascendant, Uranus and the Moon's Node. A third more global 'finger of fate' pattern involving the Venus, Mercury and Jupiter also exists here, although not so tight it may shed some influence of the awesome young people's loss of life, the forth involves Mars, Pluto and the Moon. Pluto conjuncts the Ascendant here, Mars near the MC. A terrible fateful combination of searing heat and terror pervades the story behind this map.

Saturday/Sunday 11th,12th November 2000 The Moon is besieged and Full in Phase. She moves towards a conjunction with Saturn in Taurus. Prior to this she undergoes a series of difficult aspects, including the full moon aspect at 21-16 GMT on the 11th. The portents are, for this weekend at least, serious, intense and full of will and resolution. Powerful psychic energies are at work within the biosphere of the Earth. This is a time of great purposes.

As the Moon enters Gemini at 14-29 GMT on Sunday things will ease up, there will be more movement.

The News is weird, the political situation in the US casts a strange hue onto world events. Jupiter conjunct the US national chart Uranus, Saturn (and this Full Moon) squares the US chart's Moon.

In the UK more water, floods, rivers overflowing. Weak waves of protest crash onto television news as a small convoy of trucks moves slowly, and indomitably south towards London from Tyneside.

Thursday November 9th 2000

The Moon waxes to the Full phase on Saturday 11th November. The lunation is conjunct Saturn, a touch of seriousness and realism may well be evident in this week's News stories. As the US hovers in a brief time of political confusion so Mercury hovers on the Libra / Scorpio border. During the period of confusion Mercury momentarily hovered in Libra, for a weirdly strange and short twenty nine hours (see below). The Sun squares Uranus 01-51 GMT today has also added a dash of the 'unusual' and the 'unsettling' to the proceedings of the past two days. The stage is now set for the coming Full Moon in Taurus (the Moon enters Taurus Friday 10th at 11-13 GMT). This Full Moon is the last but one before the Total Lunar Eclipse of January 9th 2001. Mars peaks in trine relationship with Neptune on Friday 10th and the pair are forming a grand trine in air signs with Jupiter in Gemini well into mid November. The times immediately ahead hold some promise of great astrological energy focused on diplomatic events and inspirational methodology. Today is 'hot' urgent and direct, a definite feeling of something big building up. Friday 10th becomes 'stronger' and 'deeper'. Stay tuned Daze reader.

Sunday November 5th 2000. We have and continue to be under the astrological sway of a grand trine in firstly earth and now air signs involving Mars making trine aspects to Saturn and Neptune.

Mars is now in Libra, conjunct the UK (1801 chart) Uranus. A befitting astrological symbol as the country rocks under a week of storms, gales, tornadoes, transport problems, and impending second fuel crisis this Autumn.

After a week with the worst floods in 47 years in the UK, it is raining again. Water plates and river levels continue to rise here. Plans to protect food supplies, keep major roads open and safeguard tanker drivers and oil terminals in the event of another fuel protest were revealed by the Government in the UK in the course of last week. .
In America two days remain to the
US election. Very close.

Mars is now in Libra ushers in increased social and diplomatic enterprises. A shaky truce designed to end five weeks of clashes between Israel and the Palestinians is underway. Mercury still retrogrades towards the Scorpio/Libra border, minds still, secrets hidden, deep intentions. Mercury turning direct on Wednesday November 8th 02-19 GMT , hovers for TWENTY NINE HOURS in Libra between 16-45 on 7th till 23-47 on the 8th. The Moon enters Pisces today, a more emotional stance to proceedings, the Daze predicts, ushers in this next week. Space News ASTEROID 2000 SG344 (from NASA web Site).

Computations made earlier this week by a group of international experts
suggest that the object 2000 SG344, has a remote 1 in 500 chance of
impacting the Earth in 2030. These results have been verified over the
course of the past 72 hours by a Technical Review Team of the International
Astronomical Union. The greatest likelihood is that future observations of
the object will yield higher precision orbit computations that will show
with certainty that it will miss the Earth entirely. The unusual nature of
the orbit of 2000 SG344 suggests the possibility that it might simply be a
man-made rocket booster from the Apollo era.

Object 2000 SG344 was discovered on September 29, 2000 by David J. Tholen
and Robert J. Whiteley

While the new orbital calculations have ruled out the 2030 event, they
have also increased the likelihood of encounters in years after 2030.
For example, for the date September 16, 2071, current computations
indicate roughly a 1 in 1000 chance of an Earth impact. However, these
calculations assume that object 2000 SG344 is asteroidal in nature.
There remains the significant possibility that this object is a
spacecraft booster rocket from the Apollo era and studies are
continuing to assess this possibility. Additional observations of the
object will be possible in the coming months and these should further
refine the calculations and conclusions.

Monday 30th October 2000.

Middle East conflict dominates the world news. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak indicated yesterday he was moving closer to forming a national emergency government that would include right-wing Likud opposition party leader Ariel Sharon and strengthen his shaky hold on power. The leaders met as two Palestinians were killed in continuing fighting on the West Bank. Venus conjunct Pluto in the skies yesterday coincided in the UK with a violent typhoon at Bognor Regis, extream travel delays on railways, and yet another young death with CJD. It is of no surprise therefore that the Venus Pluto conjunction made a 150 degree 'inconjunct' aspect to the UK national chart (1801) Mars.
Mercury still retrograde is at inferior conjunction with the Sun at 02-10 GMT today. The Moon in Sagittarius makes conjunctions with Venus and Pluto today between 05.00 and 10.00 GMT. Monday therefore looks in the 'after-wake' of this triple conjunction (opposite Jupiter, but sextile Uranus), to be astrologically 'bright', much inspiration and optimism not too far away. Could be a 'different' sort of Monday.

On Tuesday the Moon enters Capricorn at 18-03, after a 'duller' astrological day.

Wednesday, retrograde Mercury, but now seen from earth as a morning star, is square Neptune. The Moon is slow but waxing in Capricorn. This is a tough 'no-nonsense' reactionary sort of day. A harsher atmosphere pervades all moods, thoughts, actions and events

Thursday witnesses the peaking of two planetary aspects. One is Mars making an earthy waxing trine to Saturn, and Venus sextiling Uranus. These two occur simultaneously before the dawn (in the UK).

Friday sees the Moon entering Aquarius 06-41 GMT after forming a grand trine in Earth signs trine with Mars and Saturn. The week will witness a slow build up to this potentially very practical vibration and its accompanying events. This is the last week of Mars in Virgo, as the red planet enters Libra on Saturday 4th November, immediately showing more internationally diplomatic overtones as Mars slowly applies to an airy trine aspect with Jupiter in mid November. The next Full Moon ( in Taurus) on Saturday November 11th is conjunct Saturn, and square Uranus. It will have been two months since the fuel crisis in the UK and it appears to us all here at the daze that forces within the country may well be amassed to some point of conflict at this time.

Stay tuned.

Saturday 28th October 2000.

The New Moon in Scorpio yesterday saw a day of what the daze regards as 'weak' news items. One of the major news items of the week in the UK has been the publication of the formal inquiry into the BSE 'event'in the UK over the past 15 years. The overwhelming after taste of the whole affair is the uncertainty of the future, and the main question is how many more will die of CJD? With that ever present question in all our consciousness, we move bravely on into the future, and observe what yesterdays new Moon will bring forth over the next few days.

Venus is conjunct Pluto 15-32 GMT today. The pair are opposite Jupiter. The Moon, now in the new phase, is in Scorpio and makes a difficult aspect to Uranus today. The Moon enters Sagittarius at 07-42 GMT tomorrow, which serves to lighten the oppressive and intense atmosphere of Friday and today. Interesting times around the Winter Solstice and Christmas day Solar eclipse see below.

Thursday 26th October 2000.

Mercury retrograde coincides with travel disruptions in the UK. Mercury is opposite Mars in the UK national chart right now. The Sun is square Neptune, coinciding with confusing and uncertain events at home and abroad. Opposition leader Laurent Gbagbo stakes his claim to the Ivorian presidency after an angry uprising against military ruler Robert Guei, whose whereabouts are unclear. Clouds of confusion in Russia too. A Russian military plane with 75 people on board crashes into a mountain in Georgia while trying to land in bad weather. Despite the hard Neptune aspect today we have on our hands a brief, potentially pleasant day ensuing before the old Moon enters Scorpio on Friday and meets in New Moon union with the Sun in that sign tomorrow. Venus stands in tightening conjunction to Pluto exactly opposite Jupiter. Grave deeds and events are before us. Use well the smoother feel of today, but sense also the almost magical mist and strange envelopment in the flavour to today's news.

Wednesday 25th October.

Venus is conjunct Pluto on Saturday 28th 2000, this is the second time this year, see the Daze Jan 9th 2000. The News story then was of a Cuban refugee child, this time we see Cuba featured in the News in a peculiar detention of six UK citizens in Cuba. British diplomats are to be allowed to visit six Britons arrested in Cuba more than two weeks ago. The Middle East crisis continues. Israeli PM Ehud Barak tries again to form an emergency government with the right-wing Likud party as his army digs in for more unrest.

The astrological atmosphere is 'balsamic'. The Moon is balsamic, Mercury is retrograde also at the balsamic phase of its motion as it swings around between the Earth and the Sun. The Daze envisages Mercury Hesperus closing in on the evening Sun. A time for innermost contemplation, the seeds of the new, held in the midst of today's endings. The old old Moon enters Libra 19-31 GMT (Tuesday 24th), making a series of 'easy' aspects for thirty hours before entering Scorpio at 00-25 on 27th. The New Moon in Scorpio, is on Friday 27th. Venus is opposite to Jupiter that day, moving on to conjunct Pluto on Saturday.

ASTRONOMICAL NEWS. Astronomers have discovered a minor planet between Neptune and Pluto. Known as 2000 EB173, the ball of rock and ice is perhaps as large as 373 miles in diameter, about one-fourth the size of Pluto (or about the distance from Boston to Buffalo). It was discovered by an international team led by Gustavo Bruzual of Venezuela's CIDA astronomy center and Charles Baltay of Yale University. They plan to report the finding of the "plutino" in Astronomical Journal Letters .

Tuesday October 24th 2000.

The first day of the month of Scorpio yesterday witnessed YASSER ARAFAT telling Ehud Barak, the Israeli Prime Minister, to "go to hell".
The Palestinian leader's outburst followed Mr Barak's announcement of a break in peace negotiations after three more Palestinians, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed in continuing violence in the occupied territories. With Mercury now retrograde it appears from our viewpoint a time to redraft the plan, and the process. We are rapidly approaching the final waning of the current lunar cycle and the
New Moon on Friday 27th, dominated by the conjunction of Venus and Pluto opposing Jupiter on Saturday. The Moon remains in Virgo till Wednesday 25th. A real 'wind down', of a few days is before us.

Saturday 21st October 2000.

ISRAEL and the Palestinians were heading for all-out confrontation last night after one of the bloodiest days in the occupied territories since violence erupted more than three weeks ago. Wave after wave of violent clashes are occurring as we write.

In the UK, the News reports that eleven million doses of polio vaccine containing material from British cattle have been administered to children and adults since BSE vaccine guidelines banned its use in 1989.

The Moon is now in mid Leo. As Venus entered Sagittarius on Thursday 19th, world stock markets witness a hefty rise in stock prices after recent falling values. Venus is making a sextile to Neptune, (09-32 Sunday 22nd), and a transforming quintile aspect to Mars in Virgo, a indication here of 'buoyancy' and optimism perhaps. The next Astrological event is the entry of the Sun into Scorpio (02-48 GMT Monday 23rd). The New Moon in Scorpio on 27th October is on the horizon, and all the time there is a slow build up of a conjunction of Venus and Pluto in Sagittarius which peaks on 28th of October. The Daze is watchful.

Thursday 19th October 2000.

Venus is opposite Saturn 02-47 GMT today, Jupiter is opposite Pluto, the Moon is in Cancer, closest to Earth in its monthly orbit and racing fast to last quarter phase at 08-01 GMT tomorrow. Mercury is now retrograde in motion, Venus enters Sagittarius 06-19 GMT today, The Sun has only four days left in Libra. Today is special from an astrological view point, mainly because of the Venus Saturn opposition, although the shift of Venus's sign indicates changes. Tomorrow however is even more important as the Moon enters Leo and forms a 'mystic rectangle' with Neptune, Venus and Saturn. The Daze alerts all its readers to the next forty eight hours, they may well be eventful.

UK. High speed train derailment. Click here for the astrological chart of the event.

At least four people died yesterday when two carriages of the 12.10pm London King's Cross to Leeds GNER high-speed train derailed and overturned near Hatfield, Hertfordshire, north of London. British Transport Police said they could not rule out the possibility of a terrorist attack and tonight the head of Scotland Yard's anti-terrorist squad arrived at the scene. Threats were reported to have been made against the railway line on Sunday. The time of derailment is given at 12-24 BST. (BBC News). Moon Mars and Ascendant were in a mutable T-square. Uranus square MC/AS mid point. Mercury square Uranus. The derailment occurred just after Moon set in the UK. There is a tense and brittle astrological texture to this chart. Uranus, Mars and the Lunar Node are seen here in a 'finger of fate' pattern.

Sunday 15th October.

Middle East Peace talks set for next few days, the entry of the Moon into Taurus on Sat. 14th symbolising the end of the Full Moon in Aries climax, and ushering in a more stabilising 'atmosphere' as the Daze suggested. After the weekend, the waning and accelerating Moon then enters Gemini and the talking can begin. Following the astrological events of the past two weeks the next interesting planetary ripple occurs around the 19th, and 20th of October as Venus opposes Saturn, (which from Monday 16th re-enters Taurus in its retrograde motion), forming a 'mystic rectangle' with the Moon, then in Leo opposing Neptune (itself stationary turning direct in motion today). All of this 'swaying' in planetary direction of geocentric motion is intensified between now and October 18th as Mercury slows down and turns retrograde between that day and November 8th. The prediction made here for this next few weeks is one for changes (swayings) of mind, heart, word and deed. Not a time for planning, a time more for 'karmic reaping'.

FRIDAY 13th OCTOBER 2000.

FULL MOON in ARIES. Surges of violence and warlike responses in the Middle East. Palestinians and Israelis in fierce clashes. The Peace Process in tatters? Wavering on the edge of war, world oil prices surging, a delicate point of balance in world history. Sun Libra, Moon Aries, Jews and Arabs, full moon madness.

Intense flooding again in the UK, this time in South East England. Jupiter and Pluto are at exact opposition, the second of three peaks during this season. The Full Moon, midway between lunar eclipses occurs on Friday 13th of October at 08-54 some 14 minutes after the second climax of the on going Jupiter Pluto opposition. Following these astrological events the next interesting planetary ripple occurs around the 19th, and 20th of October as Venus opposes Saturn forming a 'mystic rectangle' with the Moon, then in Leo opposing Neptune. Today however the Full Moon dominates events and experiences. The Moon goes on to enter Taurus at 02-07 GMT on Saturday 14th. A more stabilising influence to proceedings may be felt then, or an even deeper entrenchment in brutality and hatred. Right now however its all storms rushes and urges.

Monday October 9th 2000.

'The darkened way' is the time of year we are in now, as the Sun passes half way through the zodiacal month of Libra. It describes the last fifteen days to the commencement of the Month of Scorpio. There are 74 days to the Winter Solstice.

THE MAIN CONCERN RIGHT NOW IS JERUSALEM. Prime Minister Ehud Barak issued an ultimatum to Yassir Arafat, saying Israeli troops would act with full force if the Palestinian leader did not stop violent clashes in the West Bank and Gaza Strip within the next two days. Venus squared Uranus yestoday, the Daze predicted an edginess to events, there are certainly unsettling vibes coming from Jerusalem.

The Moon will enter Pisces at 10-37 GMT on Monday. The Sun trines Uranus on Tuesday 00-29. That time looks more hopeful.WE LIVE IN A TIME OF DISCOVERY In Saturday's issue of Science, an international team of astronomers led by Maria R. Zapatero Osorio (Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias) announced finding at least three faint, red objects they determined to be isolated planets 5 to 15 times the mass of Jupiter. The objects cluster around Sigma Orionis, a 3.8-magnitude multiple star system just south of the easternmost star of Orion's Belt.

OTHER WORLD NEWS:- Vojislav Kostunica was sworn in (Saturday evening GMT)) as Yugoslavia's first popularly elected president, following the uprising against his predecessor Slobodan Milosevic.

Britain is to make an announcement next week about its military commitment to Sierra Leone following a report that it was preparing to send hundreds more troops to the West African country. A Slovenian became the first person ever to ski non-stop down Mount Everest on Saturday. Davo Karnicar, 38, said the descent from the 29,035ft peak took him six hours and went without any major problems.

Friday October 6th 2000.

Revolution in Yugoslavia? In the SERBIAN ASTROLOGICAL CHART progressed Uranus is conjunct the natal MC. In SLOBODAN MILOSEVIC's chart Saturn is conjunct natal Uranus. Its certainly all happening there right now. The Yugoslav Parliament building has been set on fire after thousands of protesters stormed it yesterday (Thursday), in what opposition parties and media commentators are calling a "revolution".

Thursday October 5th 2000.

The Moon is at first quarter in Capricorn at exactly 11-00 today. A quieter astrological period now ensues. The Moon will move on into Aquarius at 22-34 GMT on Friday 6th. With Mercury and Venus in Scorpio, Mars in Virgo and the Sun in Libra, we will witness the Full Moon in Aries on Friday 13th October. Mercury is slowing down from a geocentric point of view, hasty settlements of current affairs may well prove difficult. We watch the world, in former Yugoslavia we are alerted to special times as mass public opinion demand that the government is changed, Yugoslav police abandoned their posts at a striking coal mine (Wednesday) after being confronted by a huge crowd of antigovernment protesters supporting the miners. Opposition leaders rushed to join more than 10,000 protesters at the Kolubara mine complex and predicted the demise of embattled President Slobodan Milosevic. In the middle east there exists real difficult obstructions to the Peace process, mainly the future of Jerusalem. Ehud Barak, the Israeli Prime Minister, and Yassir Arafat, the Palestinian leader, met in Paris yesterday in a bid to end the bloodshed which threatens to overwhelm Middle East peace efforts, US officials said. In America we stand close to an election. In the UK right now the fuel crisis is over, we await new developments in the News. The toughest astrological period in October has been the first few days, the planets will be a little 'quieter' now for a while. Stay tuned to the daze.

Tuesday October 3rd 2000.

Israelis and Palestinians waged fierce gun battles throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip yesterday (Monday), ignoring appeals from around the world to cease fire. The street battles, sparked by a visit last week by Ariel Sharon, the leader of the hard-line opposition Likud party, to a Jerusalem shrine revered by Muslims and Jews, have so far claimed the lives of 35 Palestinians and nine Israelis, with more than 1,000 Palestinians have been injured, reports said. Palestinian and Israeli leaders blamed each other for the violence. Ehud Barak, the Israeli Prime Minister, called on Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to order his forces to "rein in the violence". MARS APPLIES SQUARE TO PLUTO AND JUPITER. (EXACT TOMORROW.) THE ISRAELI INDEPENDENCE CHART MERCURY IS LOCKED INTO THE ALIGNMENT AT 10 DEGREES GEMINI.

Monday October 2nd 2000:- There is a tight and difficult 'mutable T-square' forming in the skies over the next three days as Mars makes square aspects to the on going

opposition of Jupiter and Pluto. The period of operation of this astrological pattern begins now and extends through to the end of Wednesday October 4th. There is a violent aspect between Mars and Pluto, exact 00-48 GMT on Wednesday 4th. The main News as this aspect slowly builds up is of violence between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and a fourth consecutive day of bloody clashes in which 16 Palestinians have died. Today with the Moon in Sagittarius, expect a 'bright' day, events and memories clear and sharp, today Venus sextiles Mars, 'teasing' him. On the next day (TUESDAY 3rd) Sun sextiles Pluto. Interesting astrological ripples ahead, all of this is intriguing stuff. The first few days of this new month may well be the most important ones. Stay awake to the daze.

Friday September 29th 2000:- Mercury and Venus are now in Scorpio. The Moon too will enter Scorpio today at 15-31 GMT conjuncting Mercury 18-08 GMT and then Venus 03-37 GMT on Saturday. Jupiter is geocentrically stationary 12-33 GMT today, turning retrograde. Venus was square to Neptune this last week, coinciding with the Ferry Boat disaster in Greece, now it is the turn of Mercury to square Neptune, Sunday 18-27 GMT, from Scorpio. Sunday is the weird one here, the Moon is Void of Course all day as the 'strange aspect' manifests.

Wednesday 27th September 2000:-

The Moon is New in Libra. This New Moon is midway between eclipse seasons. Venus squares Neptune, (God of the Sea) as a Greek ferry boat sinks at Paros killing at least 60 people. The News as it reads right now. At least 62 bodies have been recovered tonight (Wednesday) after a ferry carrying more than 500 passengers and crew hit a rock and sank off a Greek holiday island. As the rescue mission turned into a recovery operation, an investigation was launched into how the Express Samina sank within an hour in heavy seas after hitting the clearly marked outcrop one-and-a-half miles from Paros last night.

Western governments said on Monday that it appeared that the Yugoslav Opposition has defeated President Slobodan Milosevic in presidential and parliamentary elections.

The Main astrological event of this week is the NEW MOON in LIBRA (Wednesday) 19-55 GMT. Venus will be tightly square Neptune, this planetary dominates this week, in which we may see events potentially full of intrigue and glamour.

The New Moon is trine Saturn and trine Neptune. Jupiter and Saturn rise over UK, Neptune conjuncts the MC. Click here for New Moon Chart and European Astrocartography map.

Venus in Scorpio from yesterday, Mercury to follow into Scorpio on Thursday, hot on her trail, but destined to turn retrograde before he meets her. Six planets in Libra for three days. Jupiter turns retrograde on Friday. The Moon enters Virgo 09-03 today, immediately forms a trapezium pattern with Venus (in Scorpio), Neptune and Saturn. The picture quickly dissolves but worth 'tuning in to' and it may 'provoke' events globally.

EARTHQUAKE IN THE UK 'QUAKE 'BIGGEST FOR TEN YEARS'
People across Warwickshire and parts of neighbouring counties were woken by an earth tremor early this morning (Saturday). The quake, measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale, was believed to have centred on the village of Budbrooke, near Warwick. Warwickshire Police said officers had been inundated with calls asking for information after the quake, at 0523 BST.'
Click here for the earthquake chart. Mars conjuncts equatorial ascendant, Jupiter/Pluto opposition rides the MC/IC axis, Uranus conjuncts the Vertex. The tightest planetary aspect Moon square Venus has its midpoint on the ascendant degree. Quite a chart!

Astronomical news from Sky and Telescope . Days after alerts of possible auroral activity were made earlier this week, another impressive sign of the Sun's peaking magnetic-activity cycle swung into view. An enormous sunspot group has rotated onto the disk. According to Cary Oler, who coordinates the aurora section of Sky & Telescope's , the complex measures some 6.5 billion square kilometers -- 13 times the entire surface area of the Earth. The group is so large that is it visible without magnification to eyes. (Do not look directly at the Sun without a filter!) Oler notes the giant group will be best seen on the solar disk until September 26th.

The main News yesterday on the Autumn Equinox, with the Moon in Cancer, Massive floods building up in Vietnam, Mekong Delta, many lives threatened. Also yesterday two items relating to 'legally enforced surgery'.

1) The Siamese twins Jodie and Mary must be separated even though the procedure will result in the death of the weaker sibling, the Court of Appeal ruled. The three judges, sitting in London, unanimously ruled that Mary was "designated for death" and that Jodie had the legal right, with the aid of doctors, to be given a chance of a full life. The sisters' Roman Catholic parents, from the Mediterranean island of Gozo, were immediately given permission to appeal to the House of Lords.

2) The High Court in Belfast ruled today that a 15-year-old Jehovah's Witness should have a blood transfusion if necessary during a kidney transplant operation despite it being against her wishes and beliefs.

The Government last night welcomed moves by Bill Clinton to drive down the price of oil. President Clinton has directed the release of 30 million barrels from the US government's emergency reserve.

Police have identified the weapon used to fire a rocket at the headquarters of MI6 as a Russian-built RPG-22 anti-tank weapon, police said today (Friday). This attack occurred at 20-45 GMT on Wednesday night in London. (BBC times).

Daze readers interested in planetary pictures are alerted to the morning (GMT) of today Saturday 23rd September when another 'Kite' pattern forms involving a grand trine of Sun, Saturn and Neptune. The kite forms as the Moon enters Leo from 7.15 GMT. Six planets in air signs now. See you all later.

OLYMPIC GAMES CHART click here

Thursday 21st September 2000:-

The last quarter Moon at perigee (nearest the Earth in its Monthly orbit) slips into Cancer at 04-16 GMT today. A grand trine in Air signs is forming in the skies involving Saturn, Neptune and the Sun. The sign of this time is positive, potentially beneficial and creative. This is the astrological atmosphere which prevails as this 'sweetly domestic' Autumn Equinox approaches on Friday. A broodier feel to the day may be perceived by those people sensitive to these subtle energies. The emphasis of these next two days is on economy, nurture and protection.

Wednesday September 20th 2000:- In the UK motorists were yesterday urged not to panic-buy fuel after rumours of fresh blockades led to queues at petrol stations in several parts of the country. The farmer who spearheaded the first fuel tax protest accused Gordon Brown of trying to provoke further demonstrations. William Hague, the Tory leader, demanded immediate answers to new allegations that Tony Blair lied about the Formula One chief, Bernie Ecclestone's, million-pound donation to the Labour party. In the UK chart Mars is applying opposite Pluto. Uranus is applying conjunct Venus. There is a slightly 'nervy' feel to the UK news. Blair and Brown (Prime Minister and Chancellor) appear to continue to take repeated knocks of bad fortune and display seemingly bad management decisions with regard to the popular sentiment in the country. The Moon is today speeding through Gemini, we can expect another day of this edgy nervous energy. A grand trine in air signs occurs today as the Moon forms trine aspects to Mercury and Uranus. We are learning that these planetary pictures provoke events. The tightest point is around 8.00 GMT. We are watching Tony Blair's transits closely right now, he has Mercury conjunct his natal Neptune Saturn conjunction, and Mars square his natal Mars on Friday, tomorrow he has difficult Venus transits. Daze readers interested in planetary picturs are alerted to the morning (GMT) of Saturday 23rd September when another 'Kite' pattern forms involving a grande trine of Sun, Saturn and Neptune, dominant on Friday (the Autumn Equinox) and the Moon . These are special times. Stay in touch.

Tuesday September 19th 2000.

SPACE NEWS.(FROM THE SKY and TELESCOPE WEB SITE)

When the Sun burps, and Earth is downwind, space scientists know to keep an eye out for geomagnetic disturbances. That's the case right now, because a major solar flare and a corresponding coronal mass ejection (CME) took place on the morning of September 16th. According to solar physicist Cary Oler, who coordinates the aurora section of Sky & Telescope's , Earth's magnetosphere should get hit nearly head-on by this solar disturbance sometime on September 19th. When an event occurs in the heavens Astrologers look for corresponding events on earth. We at the daze await to see if any coincidental events occur on earth as the great 'burp' of electromagnetic energy from the Sun (mentioned above) hits the earth.

Tuesday 19th September sees the Moon in Gemini and consequently more movement and interaction than in the previous two days. Free thinking and free speaking people in the spotlight as Mercury trines Uranus. Inventive ideas to the fore today. Increasing sociality is the hallmark of the week ahead. (Its just that Monday was the hardest, with Mars square Saturn). Wednesday is chatty and muti-faceted, lighter and refined. The Moon hits last quarter at the start of Thursday and slips into Cancer preparing a broody and reflective astrological atmosphere for the Autumn Equinox which is on Friday at 17-28 GMT.

Sunday 17th September 2000. The Moon now disseminating and accelerating will be in Taurus until 00-23 GMT Tuesday 19th. Both today and Monday will be earthy, resilient and typically slow moving, practical based . Mars is now in Virgo, there has just occurred a subtle switch to the analytical and the methodical, which will pan out right into November. In the News :- Spanish police foiled a plot by Basque separatists yesterday to blow up King Juan Carlos, hours after the leader of the terrorist organisation ETA was arrested at his villa in southwest France; A ferocious air and ground attack on Muslim rebels by the armed forces of the Philippines broke the five-month-old hostage crisis in the country's southern islands yesterday but drew loud protests from France over the risks for two French captives. The whole of the Romanian team has been expelled from the Olympic Games because of banned substances being found. The first medical evidence of CJD being passed from mother to unborn child seems to have manifested in the UK. The news broke this morning as Mars entered Virgo.

Saturday 16th September 2000

The Moon is in Aries until 19-06 GMT today. She then enters Taurus, initiating a calmer earthier period for two days. Mars, now at the very end of Leo , is applying to a waxing square with Saturn which is exact on Monday at 12-19 GMT. This aspect is quite challenging and testy, something has to give, there is a feeling of frustration in the air, growing in intensity right through the weekend. Mars enters Virgo tomorrow. We can expect a more deliberate and discriminating period ahead, actions less grandiose and more selective. Yesterday, the day of the 'mystic rectangle', coincided with severe flash floods in the south of England. The News in the UK concerns the country slowing getting back to normal after the fuel crisis, now that the Moon is on the wane there is a definite feeling of the wave having broken and passed. Abroad the Indonesian President ordered the arrest of the powerful younger son of the country's former dictator, blaming him for a deadly bomb attack; The "father" of Pakistan's nuclear weapons programme said country had enough nuclear weapons to destroy India's main cities; Armed police stormed offices of Zimbabwe opposition Movement for Democratic Change; Al Gore appears to have adopted a new election strategy: eat to win. Al Gore does seem to be ahead in the polls.

Thursday 14th September 2000.

The Full Moon has now peaked and passed. The Daze however predicts more planetary tension right now. There are eight days left until the Autumn Equinox. Today another planetary picture forms, tightens and peaks in the skies, another easy opposition involving Jupiter, Pluto and Mercury. Also Venus is trine Uranus today. Another remarkable day is promised in global, national, and personal realms. We can expect excitement and unusual outcomes to current situations. To add a surge of drive and energy the Moon enters Aries at Noon today (GMT) after a 'void of course' morning. These strong planetary alignments are rapidly followed by what is called a 'mystic rectangle' planetary picture around 4 am (GMT) on Friday. This particular pattern involves, the Moon, Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto.

Wow its all happening in the UK. Government pledges to start getting Britain back to normal within 24 hours appeared to be unfulfilled last night (Wednesday) as diesel and petrol failed to reach garage forecourts.

Abroad a car bomb ripped through an underground garage in the Jakarta Stock Exchange building yesterday, killing at least ten people and injuring 27 in the Indonesian capital.

In Spain Spanish security agents have nearly dismantled the Basque separatist organisation Eta's political wing, arresting 19 suspects in a massive police swoop. A police station in Northern Ireland was rocked by an explosion amid growing fears of a new bombing offensive by republican dissidents. Such were the events on the day of the Pisces Full Moon. Keep Alert! Stay tuned to THE DAZE.

Wednesday 13th September 2000.

This is the day of the Full Moon in Pisces. It is the second Full Moon after the total Lunar Eclipse of July 16th. The climax of this lunation coincides in the UK with a state of crisis over petroleum deliveries. Prime Minister Blair has pledged to resolve the crisis within 24 hours. He personally had a harsh Venus square Uranus yesterday, Mars is applying square to his natal Jupiter, exact on Friday. It appears petrol tankers are now on the move. The British Government is having a rough time at the moment, and there is the likelihood of a UK general election within eight months. British politician Mo Mowlam unintentionally let slip earlier this month, as she explained her plan to resign from politics, that the next general election in the UK is to be in May 2001. The Daze will shortly examine the five possible Thursdays available in that month. What hits us right away is the fact that Tony Blair has transiting Saturn conjunct his natal Mars and his Ascendant in that very month. This fact will be very pertinent to all astrologers, and it suggests a very important and 'hard' time for him, a real trial and a test.

Tuesday 12th September 2000.

The Moon nearly full enters Pisces today 02-35 GMT and over a period of two days makes difficult aspects to a stationary Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter before the moment of exact Full Moon on Wednesday 13th September at 19-38 GMT. The Moon is said to be besieged when it encounters such an array of hard aspects. It suggests a difficult two days globally, nationally and personally. The mood today is different to the stark clarity of yesterday, situations much more irresolute and slippery, mass suggestion is highlighted, and situations becoming somewhat out of control are indicated, a climax approaches. In the UK we stand on the edge of a crisis. For the first time since the 1970s we are witnessing strike action of a determined and effective nature. There is widespread popular support (Venus and Mercury in Libra). We at the Daze reckon that the government will relent and reduce fuel costs in a (typically moon in Pisces) round about way. There is however a potential for big trouble with the array of harsh lunar aspects today. We await further developments.

Monday 11th September 2000

Yesterday's astrological patterns in the sky (double grand trines ) coincided with a rather amazing cluster of events.

1) A British paratrooper was killed as around 150 UK troops attacked a militia base in Sierra Leone, freeing six of their comrades and a Sierra Leonean officer and killing at least 25 of the rebel captors. The MoD said that the hostages were unharmed, but the British troops involved in the rescue bid had one fatality and another soldier was seriously wounded.

2) Queues formed at filling stations in the UK as petrol supplies dwindled amid growing protests at fuel prices.

3) OPEC ministers agreed to raise oil supply by 800,000 barrels a day in a bid to tame runaway crude prices and avert a consumer scare over fuel.

4) The Palestinian mini-parliament agreed to delay a declaration of an independent Palestinian state for at least two months to allow more time for a peace deal to be reached with Israel.

5) Athletes from North and South Korea will march together behind a unification flag during opening ceremonies at the Olympics - the first time ever at the Games by the countries of the divided peninsula.

We are learning here that planetary pictures (like the one yesterday) provoke events on earth, it seems the more intricate and tight the planetary pattern the more acute the events and the resultant changes.

Today the gibbous Moon is still in Aquarius, now accelerating to the full we can imagine an atmosphere of protest, wilful but polite stubbornness and defiance and a general surging wave of events in the world. THE WEEK AHEAD. Saturn is stationary turning retrograde on Tuesday. The Full Moon is in Pisces on Wednesday , click here for the chart. The chart is dominated by an easy opposition.

On Thursday it is Mercury's turn to make the ongoing Jupiter Pluto opposition 'easy'. On that same day Venus trines Uranus.

On Friday 15th September around 04.00 the Moon forms a 'mystic rectangle' planetary pattern with Jupiter, Mercury and Pluto.

Then the next important astrological consideration is on September 17th when Mars slips into Virgo, remaining there until November 4th.

It looks like it will be an interesting week.

Sunday 10th September 2000,

The Moon is in Aquarius all of today and Monday. Mercury trines Neptune today. Two separate grand trines are in operation in the skies right now. One involving Mercury, Saturn and Neptune dominating the zodiac today, another involving the Moon , Venus and Jupiter straddles the ongoing Jupiter Pluto opposition forming a kite pattern today. As these remarkable planetary patterns manifest here in the UK protest is in the air. Blockades around major fuel depots and refineries are taking place. A crisis of some proportion is underway.

It remains to be seen how this develops, but as the full moon approaches we at the daze perceive a sense of resolution and climax at this point in time.

Saturday 9th September 2000.

We have blockades around petroleum refineries in the UK. It seems a dash of people power has taken grip momentarily, coinciding with the entry of Mercury into Libra (conjunct the UK national chart Uranus), and the tight planetary picture of yesterday. Lorry drivers, agricultural drivers and ordinary motorists are all involved in the protests over the price of fuel. The prices rose this week on the day Mars was conjunct with the UK Saturn.

News reaching us from abroad:- China's far western region of Xinjiang was investigating an explosion which killed or injured around 100 people, and police said today (Saturday) it was too early to determine the cause. A lorry carrying explosives blew up in the western suburbs of Urumqi, the region's capital, on Friday night. The official Xinhua news agency said the explosives had been intended for disposal, suggesting an accident.

Space News :-The European Space Agency's spacecraft is poised to begin its second traverse of the Sun's polar regions. Beginning today, and until January 16th, Ulysses will be within 7 degrees of the south solar pole (though several hundred million kilometres away from the Sun's surface). This should be an especially rewarding pass, as the Sun is now going through the most dynamic portion of its 11-year activity cycle. Throughout this year's solar maximum Ulysses has been studying the Sun's magnetic field and the solar wind, as well as the varying intensity of cosmic rays coming through the solar system. The probe's north-polar pass will occur next year from September 3rd to December 12th. Ulysses is also used to help triangulate accurate positions for the brightest gamma-ray bursts from extra galactic space.

The Moon is slow moving today, void of course in Capricorn until 14.46 GMT when she enters Aquarius becomes gibbous four hours later and applies to a conjunction with Neptune 23.06 GMT. The Full Moon in Pisces in on Wednesday 13th at 19.38. We are now hooked into this climatic lunation. Hold tight.

Friday 8th September 2000.

Today Venus is at a position in the sky which makes the current Jupiter Pluto opposition 'easy'. This 'easy opposition' is a planetary pattern which offers a 'way out' or a solution to the challenge of the opposition. Venus trines Jupiter, and sextiles Pluto. At the same time today Mercury (which enters Libra today) is trine to Saturn. There is an indication here of a positive and creatively pragmatic openings to present struggles and conflicts. The suggestion is made that today will see a softening in attitudes and an ease in diplomatic activities. The shift in emphasis from Virgo to Libra continues with both Mercury and Venus now in that Sign. An interesting day is in store.

This week Mars , currently in Leo, was conjunct Saturn in the UK national chart. as the planetary aspect peaked we saw the screw tighten on the Greenwich Dome, with public outcry on its economic failure, and a rise in petroleum prices in the country.

Abroad the Serbian Justice Minister, Dragoljub Jankovic, said yesterday (Thursday) that a trial of NATO leaders responsible for last year's bombing of Yugoslavia will start in Belgrade on September 18. The trial of 14 Western politicians, including Tony Blair and President Clinton in absentia, will occur six days before the Yugoslav presidential and legislative elections.

The International Red Cross suspended its humanitarian work in West Timor following the murder of three foreign United Nations aid workers by militia, the Geneva-based organisation said. United Nations and other aid workers fled the area as Indonesia sent in troops after six people, including the three UN workers, were killed by a mob lead by a pro-Indonesia militia on Wednesday.

Wednesday September 6th 2000.

British politician Mo Mowlam unintentionally let slip two days ago, as she explained her plan to resign from politics, that the next general election in the UK is to be in May 2001. Yesterdays news stories also included the following items:- North Korea said it had withdrawn from the United Nations Millennium Summit in New York after a confrontation between its delegation and US air security officials while in transit at Frankfurt airport. A 24-hour, year-round underwater surveillance operation was launched in an attempt to find the elusive Loch Ness monster. Soldiers from the elite Parachute Regiment were today flying out to West Africa as efforts continued to free six British soldiers kidnapped by renegade militiamen in Sierra Leone. All of these events occurred with Moon, in Sagittarius at first quarter. We at the daze expect some of these items to come their respective conclusions by next weeks Full Moon. Today the Moon still in Sagittarius is decelerating and will be void of course from 9 PM GMT, there is an astrological stillness with no planetary aspects peaking until Friday of this week. Stay tuned.

Tuesday September 5th 2000

Mars is conjunct the UK national chart (1801) Saturn in the next few days. It will be interesting to see what this transit coincides with in the UK news. There was an earthquake in California on Sunday Morning 01-36 am (local time), measured 5.2 on the Richter scale and was centred on Napa in Northern California. One five year old boy is in a critical condition. Today the Moon is at first quarter in Sagittarius at 16-29 GMT. The emphasis today is again on movement and transmission. We are now in a more subdued period than of late.

Friday appears to be the most interesting day this week with Venus making an 'easy opposition' planetary picture with the Jupiter Pluto opposition and at the same time Mercury trining Saturn.

Monday September 4th 2000.

A crescent Moon 'void of course' in Scorpio until 14.00 GMT enters Sagittarius and approaches the first quarter phase 16.30 tomorrow. After today's peaking of the ongoing Jupiter Pluto opposition we will be in a quieter astrological period for about a week as we approach the time of the Full Moon. Today begins rather deep and still but there is a modulation in the 'atmosphere' of the day, as the Moon changes sign, to more fresher movement and invigoration.

The main world news item yesterday:- Yassir Arafat, the Palestinian leader, said that an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital was the least his people could accept in a peace deal with Israel. He told politicians at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo that Palestinians would not accept a peace deal without regard to the cost. Jerusalem is a key part to a final peace settlement, which Mr Arafat wants to complete by a September 13 (The Day of the next Full Moon) deadline agreed with Israel. He has vowed to declare a Palestinian state by that date, with or without an agreement, though Palestinian officials have made clear the proclamation could be postponed if there was progress in peace talks.

Sunday 3rd Sept. 2000

Trouble brewing in Burma? Reports of repressive actions by the government against the democratic opposition leader. Robin Cook, of the British Government expressed concern yesterday. Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's opposition leader, has ended a nine-day roadside confrontation with military authorities and returned to the capital Rangoon, an official source said today (Saturday). It was not clear why or how the stand-off, which began on August 24, had ended but one of Ms Suu Kyi companions said she had been made to return by force. Ms Suu Kyi, Nobel laureate, and 15 National League for Democracy members were stopped by police as they headed out of Rangoon and refused to heed requests to return home. Meanwhile, Robin Cook, the British Foreign Secretary, called on the military authorities in Burma to grant Ms Suu Kyi greater freedom.

'Full independence was granted to Burma from India at 4.20 am on 4th Jan. 1948 (the hour having been chosen by Burmese astrologers as auspicious.) Pluto is conjunct the Ascendant of that chart this summer, Mars is conjunct natal Saturn right now. The recent New moon (now FIVE days old) was conjunct natal Mars in Virgo, in fact the Mars square rising Jupiter dominant in the chart is hooked into the current T-square in the skies.

Friday Sept. 2nd 2000. 00.00 GMT

Yesterday morning a half kilometre wide space rock zoomed past Earth barely 12 times farther from our planet than the Moon. In cosmic terms, it's a near miss.
Crescent Moon now in Scorpio, Sun Square Jupiter, Sun square Pluto, Jupiter almost (Sept. 4th) opposite Pluto, today (Sept. 2nd) is a big day astrologically. The first ten hours will witness the peak of this current Mutable T-square planetary pattern.

Here on Earth, President Clinton yesterday announced a pause of the US National Missile Shield program. George Bush pledged funding for the project. Al Gore stands non committal on this issue which seems to separate the presidential candidates. Clinton spoke of the vulnerability of attack from an increasingly technologically enriched world. The Moon was in Libra as he spoke.

Thursday Aug. 31st 2000 00.00 GMT

Astrologically interesting times. The Moon still 'new' by phase, not yet crescent, will conjunct Venus 01-22 GMT today. Eleven minutes later the Moon glides into Libra, followed by Venus two hours later. An airy grand trine peaks today, involving the Moon and Venus, Neptune and Saturn. Its influence will extend for a few days and may act to show a direction and offer a solution to the crises and conflicts which may emerge as a consequence of the more testy mutable T-square also in operation over the next few days. There is a shift in emphasis from Virgo to Libra, an opportunity for smoother more pleasant times ahead, maybe. September 1st 2000. The Moon in Libra, is void for the second half the day, the planetary knot will be tightening.

A mutable T-square peaks very tightly within the first ten hours of Sept. 2nd. This day looms large in

the daze's estimation. The Sun is at waning square to Pluto and the crescent Moon is in Scorpio. September 2nd 2000 may throw up dastardly deeds.

Phase one of the 2000/2001 triple opposition of Jupiter and Pluto peaks on Sept. 4th.

All of this indicates that we are living through a clustering of planetary alignments as we enter the month of September 2000. The ability to adapt may be what is on test here.

Astronomical news in the last two days speaks of more evidence suggesting oceans of water below the surface of Europa, (one of Jupiter's Moons).

News yesterday reported Mohamed Al Fayed said that he would take legal action against the United States Government to obtain "secret" documents concerning the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, and his son, Dodi. On the eve of the third anniversary of their fatal Paris car crash, Mr Al Fayed repeated his claim the Princess and his son were murdered.

Wednesday Aug. 30th 06.30 GMT

The main news in the UK yesterday, but with possible consequences for all humans, coinciding with the Virgo New Moon was the reporting of government research into 'Prion Proteins' ( in particular 'CJD', the human form of mad cow disease) and the ability of this prion to cross species barriers and show no outward signs of its presence. There is still a major puzzlement within the scientific community about these 'prions'. A mere laboratory detail it may seem to many, but at this time the details are important.

Another detail, Al Gore, US presidential hopeful, gains a small lead in the opinion polls for the first time yesterday. It is startling to see that yesterday's Mars Uranus opposition fell right on Gore's Mars (his Mars return) and that transitting Venus was trined his natal Venus, when he gave his wife Tipper Gore a passionate screen kiss, which, it has been said by the pollsters, precipitated the turn in his fortunes with the electorate. Bush meanwhile seems to continue to make gaffs with his spoken English. Mercury is conjunct his Mars right now, and the Virgo New Moon was conjunct his natal Mercury.

Today is' detail crazy', four planets (including the Sun and Moon in Virgo), the emphasis will be on refinement and minutiae.

Tuesday Aug. 29th 2000 06.20 GMT.

The Moon is New today at 6 degrees Virgo at 10-20 (GMT). This New Moon is dynamically placed in a T-square planetary picture with the current opposition of Jupiter and Pluto. By coincidence Mars is exactly opposite Uranus also today (07-21). This is a remarkable day. The immediate future will witness the continual tightening of the Mutable T-square involving the Sun, Jupiter and Pluto (tightest on September 2nd) and the formation simultaneously of a grand trine in air involving Venus Saturn and Neptune, this one is tightest on August 31st as the Moon conjuncts Venus in Libra. Two things going on once, one of underworld intrigue and power shifts, the other (the airy grand trine) symbolising a harnessing of collective or shared attitudes and feelings into positive outcomes.

News stories in the past twenty four hours:- Rescuers have found the bodies of three people killed in a fire in Moscow's Ostankino television tower, the interior ministry press service said yesterday (Monday). Talks are continuing with the West Side Boys militia in Sierra Leone in a bid to free the 11 British soldiers held by the group.

Sunday Aug. 27th 2000. 21.00 GMT.

Mutable T-square

News Events today:-

Negotiations concerning the 11 British troops held hostage in Sierra Leone are underway with the 'west side boys'. Billion dollar Cocaine operation 'busted' in the USA. Nuclear plant bomb attempt in Sydney Australia foiled by police. This event occurs in the run up to the Olympic Games. Pro democracy leader prevented from leaving Rangoon Burma by Police. All these events appear to us here at the daze to be 'underworld', not suprising with Pluto opposing Jupiter, squaring Mercury as these news stories unfold..

The Old Moon conjuncts Mars in Leo tomorrow in the first five hours of the day, both opposite Uranus. A shocking night and day may well follow it would seem. For the rest of tomorrow the Leo Moon is void of course before entering Virgo on Tuesday, the day of the New Moon and the exact time of the Mars Uranus opposition. Stay tuned reader.

Saturday August 26th 21.00 GMT

Tomorrow Mercury forms a T-square with the Jupiter Pluto opposition in mutable signs. With the moon in Leo we could expect it to be an important day with big issues arising and a crisis of conflicting ideas excuses and opinions and intentions. The keyword here is transmission, meaning in this case, movement of mind, change of mind and the power of mind. Ahead of us, within the next five days are certain specific astrological events. The New Moon in Virgo on August 29th occurs within three hours of an opposition of Mars and Uranus. The New Moon itself forms a mutable T Square with the Jupiter Pluto opposition. Take Care, there are two oppositions forming, Jupiter Pluto and Mars Uranus, (dominating the skies in a planetary picture like a pair of scissors) and a mutable T-square building up right now. Planetary tensions are increasing. Corresponding tensions and events on Earth are inevitable.

Today the moon is 'void of course' in Cancer, a day maybe to prepare the domestics before the power of tomorrow, and the important days that follow, right into September. Domestic news today, a real human interest tragedy unfolds:- A British High Court judge has ruled that a baby girl should die so that her conjoined twin sister can survive and probably live a healthy life. The decision of Judge Robert Johnson was against the wishes of the parents of the girls. The twins -- identified only by the false names of Jodie and Mary in order to disguise their true identity -- were born at St. Mary's Hospital, Manchester, on August 8 ( check out the planetary dynamics on that day, see below) and are attached by their lower abdomen.

News of a hostage taking event in Sierra Leone, British troops this time, 15 of them, first reports received today, 'West Side Boys'are the kidnappers.

Friday August 25th

Homely home day, Sun in Virgo, Moon in Cancer, earth and water, common sense, moderation, efficiency. News reaches us today of floods in Southern India, the worst in the region for 50 years, and the death toll of over 100. Grey water clouds hang over Hyderabad.

Thursday Aug. 24th

The Moon moving rapidly through Gemini is void of course most of the day. A day of connections and details.

Wed Aug. 23rd Aug. 2000.

The Moon is in Gemini today. A busy restless refining process is at work today. Ahead of us, within the next ten days are certain specific astrological events.

The New Moon in Virgo on August 29th occurs within three hours of an opposition of Mars and Uranus.

The New Moon itself forms a mutable T Square with the Jupiter.

Prior to this (27th Aug.) Mercury completes a T-square with the tightening Jupiter Pluto opposition in the skies of Earth right now. A Gulf Air Jet crashed in the sea near Bahrain today. All 143 passengers and crew dead.

Tuesday Aug. 22nd 11.00 GMT

Troops deployed in Belfast yesterday for the first time in two years. Freaky weather conditions around the UK, hailstones, snow and tornadoes. The Russian submariners are all declared dead, the submarine full of water.

All change today, Mercury enters Virgo 10-12, last quarter Moon enters Gemini 18-56, Sun enters Virgo 19-50. Moon conjuncts Saturn eight minutes later. Tomorrow the Sun squares Saturn. Testing times.

Sunday Aug. 20th 19.15 GMT

The Moon is now in Taurus. All hope has nearly gone for the submariners entombed in stricken Russian Nuclear Submarine. We are approaching the end of the month of Leo and this brief period of a Taurean Moon marks its final phase. The month which witnessed the explosion aboard Concorde taking off from Paris seems to be ending at the bottom of the Seas off Murmansk, Russia. Russia's Deputy Prime Minister said today that video footage has shown that a high-tech British mini-submarine, rushed to the rescue of the doomed Kursk nuclear submarine, will be unable to help the crew trapped inside.

There is a crisis of sorts taking place in that country. Confidence in premier Putin appears to have been shaken. We still have two and a half days of a stubborn unremitting atmosphere until at 18-56 Tues. Aug. 22nd, the last quarter Moon enters Gemini and conjuncts Saturn, and the Sun one hour later at 19-49 GMT enters Virgo.

Ladies and Gentlemen there are changes ahead, but we have a brief and calm moment in time, some thirty or so hours in duration, before inevitable changes and movement.

Saturday August 19th 2000 16.00 GMT

The fiery grand trine and planetary kite pattern described below (Aug. 18th) corresponded to the following 'dynamic' bunch of news stories. A British mini-sub was due to start a last-ditch attempt to rescue any survivors on a stricken Russian submarine today (Saturday), but Mikhail Motsak, the Northern Fleet's navy commander said the situation was "beyond critical"

Negotiators seeking to win the release of a dozen foreign hostages in the southern Philippines returned empty-handed today (Saturday) when Muslim rebels refused to release them in one batch. THE HOSTAGES WERE ALL RELEASED within 12 hours of this report. _ That has been going on for four months.

Dozens of people drowned in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh when a swollen river swept away a bus, police said today (Saturday). They said 35 bodies had been recovered but many passengers were still missing.

A British Airways jumbo jet was forced to make an unscheduled landing after a married couple traded punches in an air rage brawl, it emerged (Saturday) today. The pilot of BA flight 278 from Los Angeles to London was forced to divert to Chicago after the incident in the airliner's economy class cabin.

This planetary pattern is one of many such patterns which will form around the Jupiter Pluto opposition which will be with us over the next ten months. The next such planetary picture involving Jupiter and Pluto will occur from August 26th for one week as first Mercury and then the Sun (and New Moon in Virgo, Aug. 29th) square the opposition. Between now and then we will experience the inorexible build up of an opposition of Mars and Uranus (exact on the day of the Virgo New Moon Aug. 29th). The Moon presently in Aries, waning and accelerating will enter Taurus 12.32 GMT on Aug. 20th and will be at last quarter on Aug. 22nd conjunct Saturn as the Sun enters Virgo. Twelve hours before this Mercury at the very end of Leo stands at superior conjunction with the Sun and enters Virgo a few hours later. A lot going on. stay tuned.

Friday August 18th 2000, 18.00 GMT.

Over the next twelve hours the Moon in Aries forms a grand trine in fire signs involving Mars and Pluto. Witness a surge of events and happenstances at this time. A 'kite' planetary picture is also formed as Jupiter is building to its opposition to Pluto.

The weekend ahead will however 'seize rigid' as the Moon enters Taurus 14.00 Sunday 20th GMT. Pluto is stationary about to turn direct (Sunday), great things are brewing again, the words 'momentum', and 'will' come to mind. Mars in Leo portrays the male, at this time fiery, brash, big game. Venus in Virgo portrays the female, reserved, refined, real. The Moon this weekend is very well aspected, potentially this is a positive time.

The News right now AS THE FIERY GRAND TRINE and KITE TIGHTENS- Rescuers for the first time latched onto an escape hatch on the stranded Russian nuclear submarine before losing grip because it was damaged. The Russians said today (Friday) they would make another attempt before leaving the fate of any survivors trapped inside in the hands of a British team due in the area Saturday.

The outbreak of swine fever in the UK has its origins in Asia and the virus was brought into Europe two years ago by an illegally imported wild boar, the European Commission said today (Friday). more to follow.....

Thursday 17th Aug. 2000. 08.00 GMT.

Today is astrologically quiet. The Sun has five more days in the tropical sign of Leo, the Moon is in Pisces making no major aspect until it enters Aries tomorrow (18th Aug.) at 05-45 GMT. On the 19th Aug. (Saturday) the Moon, in Aries, pulls together a fiery grand trine with Mars and Pluto. That day has the potential for supreme efforts and creativity.

News in the UK surrounds the government rethinking the human embryonic legal position with regard to cloning human tissue for medical research. It appears that further research may be given the go ahead. There is little compromise when the Sun, Mars and Mercury are all in Leo, as they are right now. And talking of pride.....Russian President Vladimir Putin has Mercury square his natal Jupiter (in Taurus) today, Mars will arrive in the same position next week. He looks to be in some crisis regarding the on going submarine misadventure, the astrology of his personal situation suggests some trouble ahead for him. (His chart has a fixed T-square aligned to Mercury's position today.)

Wednesday 16th Aug. 2000. 09.00 GMT

The Moon (in Pisces the fish) draws together a planetary picture called a 'mutable grand cross' today involving Jupiter, Pluto and Venus. This cross in esoteric astrology is symbolised as the 'cross of the repentant thief' (one of the three crosses of crucifixion in the Christian story), the question today, with reference to the stricken Russian Nuclear Submarine, is also one of saving souls. As the Moon changed signs from Aquarius to Pisces yesterday, we picked up in the news of this event a softening of Russian attitudes towards accepting help from the West.

In the UK since July 11th 2000 (five days before the total Lunar eclipse) there has emerged a pernicious swine disease. The pig meat industry here could be said to be in carnage right now.

What lies ahead? Today (Aug. 16th) two planetary aspects manifest, one probably coinciding with communication disturbances and communication upsets, Mercury opposite Uranus, and the other, of a more positive nature, Mars 'fiery' trine Pluto. Reviewed alongside the above mentioned mutable cross it looks like it could be an eventful day.

On Thursday 17th the Moon is void of course all day in Pisces, this suggests a day much more low key.

Stay tuned to the daze.

Tuesday August 15th 2000 13.00 GMT

The Moon now just past the Full phase by a few hours, void of course until she enters Pisces 19.43 today, and as the current mutable T-square (focusing on the Jupiter Pluto Opposition squared by Venus) subsides the Moon in Pisces pulls together a mutable square tomorrow 24 hours from now, we await the manifestations in the news, media and environment.

The Russian Nuclear Submarine story unfolds. Over 100 lives in peril, storms and futile rescue attempts are underway.

Since last Friday there has been a series of events in the South of Iraq. US and UK aircraft have taken reprisal bombing raids on Iraqi positions. We here at the Daze see this re surfacing of old and on going hostility coinciding with the Jupiter Pluto opposition and with the entry of Saturn into Gemini. Russia today added a condemning voice about the skirmishes. In contrast noises from Korea suggest continual progress in the harmonisation process between north and south .

Monday August 14th 22.00 GMT.

As the current T-square of planets Venus, Jupiter and Pluto tightens (in Mutable Signs) and a Full Moon in Aquarius conjuncts Uranus, news stories right now have something of a sinister ring to them. This is a tense day or two.

A Russian Nuclear Submarine with 100 men on board lies crippled on the bottom of the Arctic Sea.

Rescue is reported to be a small chance. (Another Nuclear powered Submarine this one British is broken Gibraltar causing much local protest.) Pluto is involved in this planetary drama right now, Venus is exactly square a near stationary Pluto.

Sunday August 13th 2000. 13.00 GMT

The Moon is nearly full, she entered Aquarius 07.44 and provides a fresher atmosphere than of late. There is a feeling today of universal extroversion. These first two weeks of the new eclipse season reach a climax of sorts with The' Lamas' Full Moon on Tuesday 15th August at 05-14 GMT. Click here for full Moon Chart. The full Moon will be conjunct Uranus. Jupiter is applying to an opposition with Pluto, this is the dominating planetary aspect over the coming season. During the next three days Venus will form a T-square from Virgo to this opposition, and the Moon on Wednesday will complete a mutable grand cross from Pisces. The course of events both personal and global over the next few days may give rise to 'breaking up and moving on' scenarios. The Jupiter Pluto opposition (in masculine mutable signs) symbolises power shifts. The part played by Venus over this Full Moon period may be to trigger such manifestations. Venus will exactly square Pluto at midnight (GMT) at the start of Tuesday 15th August. There is a potential here for a crisis of change, brittle in nature. Watch the money markets, watch the news stories for evidence of these 'power shifts'.

The United States Government has for years covered up the loss of an atomic bomb from a B-52 bomber which crashed off the coast of Greenland in 1968, the Danish newspaper Jyllands Posten reported today (Sunday).

Saturday August 12th 2000. 18.00 GMT.

Four major events have dominated World Headlines during the last two weeks since the partial eclipse of the Sun on July 31st.

Firstly Savage fires gripping the Western United States. Mars is currently 'roaring' in fiery Leo. The prospects for an early extinguish are poor.

Secondly, and most importantly, another desperate situation, this time floods in Assam Eastern India. The Government today (Saturday, with the Gibbous Moon in Capricorn) announced £250,000 in aid to help people driven from their homes by floods in the Indian state of Assam. The Red Cross has launched a £2.5 million appeal to provide food, shelter, medicines and water purification equipment for an estimated four million people hit by the floods. The situation there is affecting and jeopardising the security of millions. A planetary event is taking place.

Thirdly, Russian president Vladimir Putin has been talking to Yassar Arafat about the nation of Palestine.

Fourth a terrorist bomb exploded in Moscow on August 8th 2000. Seven people were killed, many injured.

In the UK the news focus has remained with mass localised protests against paedophiles. The murder of Sarah Payne, the criminal event which precipitated the days of protest, remains unsolved.

In space, Comet Linear has disintegrated, but observations of the disintegration process have greatly increased astronomers knowledge of the structure of comets. We continue to live in a time of new planet discoveries outside of our solar system.

These events have been occurring while Venus sails through early Virgo (squaring Saturn), and Mercury chased and overtook Mars in Leo.

Today, ('sometime in the afternoon local time' the Russian Nuclear submarine suffered an explosion and sank to the bottom of the Sea in the Arctic Ocean). Today also saw a sudden intensification of the Iraqi hostilities with the USA and UK aircraft in the south of the country.

These first two weeks of the new eclipse season reach a climax of sorts with The' Lamas' Full Moon on Tuesday 15th August at 05-14 GMT. Click here for full Moon Chart. The full Moon will be conjunct Uranus. Today Mars sextiles Jupiter, Venus squares Jupiter, Mercury trines Pluto. Jupiter is conjunct the USA national chart Uranus. All day the Moon is void in Capricorn, Mercury trine Pluto (14.30) offers some potential to see ways over and around present difficulties. The day is however similar to yesterday, long and hard work with a tendency to over react emotionally, and to compensate by over spending. As the day ends there is more impetus to action. Ambition and plans today.

ASTROLOGICAL WEATHER FORECAST

FOR PERIOD AUGUST 1st to 13th 2000.

(holidaze)

August 1st 2000.

Mars enters Leo 01.22 this morning (there till Septa 18th), to be joined by Mercury on 7th August. The Moon enters Virgo 13.28 today. A day to start 'the big job'. Hard work and attention to detail will deliver the desired changes.

Wednesday August 2nd 2000.

A potential for positive transformations. An emphasis on accuracy and fault finding. Striving for perfection. Serious weights and measures issues.

Thursday August 3rd 2000.

Complete loose ends this morning, as the decelerating waxing Moon enters Libra 15.32 today the days turns to a more social orientation. The urge to relax rather than the urge to measure.

Friday August 4th 2000.

Good day to party, liaise, socialise, harmonise, dress up, and not rock the boat. Make the most of this astrologically quieter day. After today events and experiences take a turn for the slightly worse.

Saturday August 5th 2000.

What seems at first to be a reasonable day has something of a sting in the tail. The Moon enters Scorpio 21.05. Something slightly dour takes sway and materialises. By nightfall, stark realisations. and bleak and blunt declarations are made. Not a time to attempt to change people's point of view or to coerce. Stubborn wilfulness abounds by the end of this day.

Sunday August 6th 2000.

Potentially a crisis day. a movement to undue pessimism and dark selfish thoughts. A good day to cut back, cut losses, prune, cut out the rotten, no holes bared. Venus squares Saturn 13.26 hence the dour input, Venus enters Virgo 17.34.

Monday August 7th 2000.

This day is midway between Summer Solstice and the Autumn Equinox. Many little changes in the early hours of this day. First quarter Moon (01.03) in Scorpio. Mercury sextile Saturn 03.20. Mercury enters Leo 05.43. Mercury hot on the chase of Mars. Something is going to erupt over the next few days. A transition is underway. Not easy to perceive the purposes behind peoples actions today. Not the clearest of intentions, something misguided going on, betrayals, deceptions may be in the News. Difficulties building up.

Tuesday August 8th 2000.

The day of the Moscow terrorist bomb. Moon enters Sagittarius 06.31. Mars and Mercury oppose Neptune, the Moon opposes Jupiter and Saturn. This is a very challenging day. Deliberate and seemingly straight forward however exercise caution! A planetary drama is taking place. There is a strong possibility of much wilfulness, savagery, power struggles and upheavals.

Wednesday August 9th 2000.

Mighty confusing signals. Much babble and banter. Mercury opposes Neptune 20.37. The slow Moon void in Sagittarius from 20.16. By now you will realise the events and news stories coinciding with the present planetary picture. This is the last day of Saturn in Taurus. The end of a chapter. Time to move.

Thursday August 10th 2000.

Saturn enters Gemini today 02.39. This 'Saturn Ingress' marks a change in fortunes. Saturn will turn retrograde and re-enter Taurus from October 16th 2000 to April 20th 2001, finally residing in Gemini until June 4th 2003. Heliocentricity Saturn enters Gemini on . The period under consideration may show certain signs of 'stabilisation and normalisation of communication'. A great potential for the establishment of universal protocol. During this period Saturn will oppose Pluto Summer 2001 to Spring 2002. However

Today the Moon is void in Sagittarius all day until 18.45 when she enters Capricorn. Mercury is conjunct Mars 12.38. Energetic outbursts going nowhere. The day moves mores us into more erratic destinys. In the short term upsets may be in store. Unexpected twists and turns is the way of now.

Because of the Saturn Ingress expect a day spawning mighty events.

Friday August 11th 2000.

The Moon Apogee (very slow) and void for 26 hours from 06.03 today. Uranus in opposition to the Sun 05.19. Mercury sextile Jupiter 05.45. A potential for wastefulness both of time and money. After an awkward start this day mellows somewhat. The immediate planetary crisis is over now, but today my seem to drag somewhat. A lot of effort is needed to make things happen, and push through, red tape and autocratic action abounds. A day of establishment and pragmatism.

.

July 29th 2000. 23.00 GMT.

Last night's Venus opposite Uranus coincided with significant news headlines of events in Peru. In Lima 6 people died in anti Government protests. The astrological link emphasised by Uranus (in Aquarius) is one of protest, sudden eruption and accident. Venus in Leo seems here to have acted here as the catalyst.

Around here (Worcestershire UK) flash storms brought down the local land line, the daze is off line. Weather patterns here seem to be acutely electrical and localised.

In the UK today a 10 year old boy rescues from certain death, in the sea off the North Wales coast, a family by using a jet ski, somehow that brave young act, (archetypically maybe a Venus in Leo correspondence here), the event fits in with the quality of the day. Also in the UK, the country appears obsessed with paedophilia, as the main news story is about the News of the World Newspaper publishing a list of convicted paedophiles.

Mars in late Cancer applies waxing sextile to Saturn in Late Taurus, the most dominant planetary aspect at this time of partial solar Eclipse. It seems to symbolise an enduring effort, sustained development.

latest update:- July 28th 2000 12.00 GMT.

The Moon enters Cancer today 13-31 GMT making conjunctions with Mercury (17-20 tomorrow) and Mars ( 11-48 Sunday). It enters Leo 13-24 on Sunday some 12 hours before the partial eclipse with the Sun. Venus is opposite Uranus tonight, the astrological atmosphere, a trifle tense and touchy, could contain a highly charged sexuality.

Concorde crash, Click here for the chart and brief comment. French investigators finished decoding the second black box yesterday (Thursday) on the Concorde supersonic jet that crashed and killed 113 people, but it could take up to three days to complete the analysis of the fatal flight, the French Transport Ministry said.

Astronomical News:-The middle star in the row of three forming the head of Scorpius is undergoing a substantial outburst. It has brightened enough to change the look of this familiar constellation for skywatchers paying close attention. Normally magnitude 2.3, Delta Scorpii rose to magnitude 1.9 from June 30th to July 25th. The brightening may well continue.

WORLD NEWS:- Madeleine Albright, the US Secretary of State, arrived in Thailand today (Friday) for the highest-level meeting between American and North Korea officials in a half-century of hostility

The president of Fiji announced the country's new interim Government today (Friday) but has left out supporters of George Speight, the jailed coup leader. The Cabinet, which remains largely Fijian nationalistic in makeup, was due to be sworn in later today.

July 27th 2000 16.00 GMT

The Moon now in mid Gemini, in fast motion and is approaching partial eclipse with the Sun on 31st July. Jupiter is exactly trine Neptune, Neptune is opposite the Sun.

Unrest spread across Fiji today (Thursday) following the arrest of George Speight, the nationalist rebel leader, with gunmen briefly taking some 40 ethnic Indians hostage and kidnapping two New Zealand pilots. Police in the town of Labasa on Vanua Levu, Fiji's second largest island, warned residents to stay indoors as 50 gunmen roamed the streets, shooting indiscriminately and looting shops. Fiji has been in turmoil since Mr Speight and his gunmen stormed Parliament in May in the name of indigenous rights and held Mahendra Chaudhry, the ethnic Indian prime minister, and most of his multi-racial cabinet hostage for 56 days.

In the UK, the next British general election appears on the agenda. The much heralded National Plan for radically overhauling the health service was published by the Government today (Thursday).

PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE JULY 31st 2000. click here for eclipse chart.

In contrast to the partial solar eclipse on 1st July 2000 which belongs to a very old Saros Series, the one on 31st July belongs to a Saros series which is still very new. This eclipse is the 5th member of a series of 71 eclipses. The first eclipse of the series occurred at 20.27 on 17th June 1928, and the series extends for nearly 1200 years. This eclipse is visible from the Arctic, Northern Canada, Alaska and Northern Siberia. The eclipse begins 00.37 GMT and ends 03.49. The Eclipse at 8 degrees Leo is opposite Neptune, trine Pluto and sextile Jupiter. Mars is sextile Saturn, Venus opposes Uranus. The point of maximum eclipse occurs at 02.13 GMT. At this moment the Sun and Moon rise at Kuwait, Bahrain, Gulf States and at Helsinki, the Sun and Moon set over Denver USA, where Saturn at the same moment is at lower culmination. The Sun and Moon are on the MC of Hobart Tasmania. Pluto rises at Reykjavick, Neptune is at lower culmination at Recife Brazil. Pluto rises at Tonga. The Solomon islands are highlighted with Uranus conjunct the MC, (the total lunar eclipse two weeks earlier was conjunct the MC of the Solomon islands). Jupiter and Saturn are due west at Tokyo, Mars rises at Damascus, Jerusalem, Istanbul and Beirut. Mercury rises over Bosnia, Pluto due west at Sicily. This is an interesting although still weak eclipse. In it we may detect a message, a note, a symbol of an as yet new nature.

July 24th 2000. 07.00 GMT

The Main World News is U.S. President Bill Clinton has returned to the Mideast peace talks in Camp David, Maryland, on Sunday evening and went straight into meetings with U.S. negotiators and separate sessions with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. These talks are now taking place under very resolute astrological weather.
The Moon enters Taurus today 07-45 GMT, and is at last quarter 11-04. The quality of the next two days is 'fixed', peoples opinions rather resolute and entrenched. Expect stubborn responses. The 'entrenched' atmosphere will break up on Wednesday 26th at 12-03 GMT when the Moon enters Gemini. Four planetary aspects are building up in the skies in the course of the next few days, Jupiter trine Neptune (potentially a beautiful planetary vibration) and Sun opposite Neptune (adds a touch of intrigue to proceedings) both occurring on Thursday, Sun sextile Jupiter (optimistic) on Friday, and Venus opposes Uranus (slightly more awkward and wayward) peaks on Saturday 29th. The week leads us to the partial eclipse of the Sun, the third and final eclipse of the current eclipse season on 31st July, a week from now.

July 21st 2000. 06.00 GMT.

Mars rises at Jerusalem at the moment of central eclipse on the third and final eclipse of the current season on the 31st July, (see below), Jerusalem is one focus of news activity right now 9 days before this partial solar eclipse. The other focus is the G8 summit in Japan.

Ehud Barak, the Israeli Prime Minister, has approved a plan to place Jerusalem's Arab neighbourhoods under Palestinian administrative control, an Israeli Cabinet minister and other diplomatic sources said yesterday (Friday). The United States is reportedly trying to sell the idea to Yassir Arafat, the Palestinian leader. Under the US plan, which embellishes an Israeli idea, the Palestinian control would be extended to Arab suburbs beyond the city. Hasan Abdel Rahman, the Washington representative of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, said: "Short of total Palestinian sovereignty over East Jerusalem there is not a ground for an agreement." Today President Clinton flies back to the 'Camp David' talks in Washington to continue bashing out the middle east plan.

Britain has offered £82 million of assistance to help Russia with chemical weapons destruction and disposing of unneeded plutonium, Tony Blair announced today (Friday). Mr Blair told other world leaders at the G8 summit in Okinawa, Japan, that Russia needed help disposing of the substances. "The legacy of the Cold War has left countries of the former Soviet Union with enormous nuclear problems. The environmental, security and proliferation threats they pose do not respect international boundaries," said Mr Blair. (1630 BST). President Putin of Russia (he has Venus active by transit right now and Mercury trine his Venus) cutting a big dash at the G8 summit with his 'E-mail' communication proposal for all the world leaders.

TODAY THE SUN ENTERS LEO 12-43 GMT. The Moon is now in Aries. Fire is the predominant element in the astrology of today, a new astrological month, a new chapter in the story. Jupiter is slowly creeping up to a waxing trine with Neptune (exact 27th July), this trine aspect in Air signs could be associated with large scale (international) sympathetic responses and agreements. There is something positive here, let's ease up a little. The world leaders in tune with each other?

July 20th 2000. 00.00 GMT.

As the disseminating Moon slid through Pisces yesterday a major security alert in London was caused by a bomb which appeared to have been left by Northern Ireland dissidents. The alert followed a coded warning in the morning that led to a controlled explosion of a device on a railway track near Ealing Broadway.( The bomb was discovered at 09.30 GMT, BBC NEWS). Travel chaos then ensued for the rest of the day in the capital. On the other side of the world, President Vladimir Putin of Russia speaking during a visit to North Korea (click here for Korea's charts) that the country would halt its missile development programme in exchange for access to space rocket boosters for space exploration. Also in the UK Sussex Police begin a murder hunt for the killer(s) of little Sarah Payne.

The Moon remains in Pisces today. Two planetary aspects (both favourable) dominate the astrological weather over the next two days. The Sun makes a waxing sextile to Saturn at 00-38 GMT Friday 21st, suggesting an atmosphere of formal and constructive organisation, and Venus trine Pluto, 18-49 the same day. This aspect may have more personal effects, especially in the realms of love, women and money, a time to speculate maybe. The Moon enters Aries 00-10 on Saturday 22nd setting a fiery prelude to the Sun entering Leo at 12-43 . Stay with the daze. The last of the three July eclipses occurs on July 31st.

July 18th 2000 06.00 GMT.

Woke up yesterday to the report of an airline crash in Patna India at 02-35 GMT, click here for chart, a Boeing 737, 58 people killed, some on the ground. Chart of crash shows Saturn conjunct MC, square Uranus and Square Ascendant.

As Mercury turned direct yesterday, 13-15 GMT, the body of a small girl, not yet identified as little Sarah Payne, (missing since the time of the solar eclipse on 1st July), was discovered by a passer by in Sussex, some ten miles from where she was last seen. (The daze tentatively suggested that the girl would be found in the locality). Sad news indeed.

Mercury (inconjunct Pluto) is opposite the UK national chart (1801) right now:- More radioactivity has been found on a beach near Scotland's Dounreay nuclear plant. A spokesman for the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) said that a radioactive particle had been found on Sandside Beach in Caithness and taken to the site for analysis.

More odd 'weights and measures' News as Tesco (UK supermarket group) is returning to selling food using imperial measurements because consumers simply do not understand metric, it said yesterday (Monday).

A quieter period now, today the Moon in Aquarius makes one solitary aspect conjunct Uranus 17-18 GMT. The Moon then, waning and accelerating begins a slow build up to a sombre square with Saturn, 10-38 GMT Wednesday 19th, before entering a void of course period until she enters Pisces 13-45, the same day, initiating a 'watery' period and preparing the way for the Sun entering Leo on Saturday 22nd July. A 'mystic rectangle' planetary picture dominates the skies over these few days as Venus opposes Neptune which is sextile Pluto opposite Jupiter.

July 16th 19.00 GMT

The Moon enters Aquarius tomorrow 01-27, Mercury turns direct 13-15. Venus opposite Neptune 18-30 all tomorrow. A day or two in the hangover period of Sunday's eclipse, beware of begilement, a strange two days. Care in the community is the focus of the Sun/Moon combination. Easier going, than of late.

United NATIONS RESCUE in SIERRA LEONE.

The United Nations Astrological Chart has yesterday transiting Sun conjunct the chart's Mars Saturn conjunction at 24 degrees Cancer. A well planned rescue. All saved. Capricorn planning, (the eclipsed Moon is there, in Capricorn the sure footed Goat), the rescue was evidentially well executed.

July 15th. 08.00 GMT. If the impending (Sunday 16th) Longest Total Lunar Eclipse in our lifetime wasn't powerful and significant enough we read from the Sky and Telescope the following news of a massive solar storm.

We've learned that a powerful solar flare erupted YESTERDAY morning, lasting 40 minutes and peaking at 6:24 a.m. EDT. It's an X6 flare, "X" being the highest-energy category and "6" being well up the scale. (Solar flares are ranked according to their X-ray output; the X-rays are a tracer for violent magnetic explosions occurring just above the Sun's photosphere. For comparison, the flare that triggered all the commotion these last couple of days was pegged at X1.)

Moreover, the source region for this flare is now aimed more squarely at Earth than it was a couple days ago. The official designation is Active Region 9077 -- the big sunspot group near the centre of the solar disk.

It will take 2 to 3 days for the pulse of energised solar wind from this flare to reach and engulf Earth, so Saturday and Sunday nights will be when to look for an aurora. Typically auroras don't migrate much below the Canadian border, but during big geomagnetic storms the auroral oval surrounding each pole enlarges and pushes equatorward. For example, during the last really huge geomagnetic storm, in March 1989, auroras were seen even in Central America. The one last April made it down to the Carolinas.

Too bad there's a full Moon this weekend, though a strong auroral display should be obvious regardless. Maybe some lucky folks around the Pacific Rim will see the aurora during Sunday's eclipse. The longest Total Lunar Eclipse in our lifetime is on Sunday. (see below)

World news as I write:- ( Mercury almost stationary inconjunct Pluto. Venus sextile Jupiter, Mars inconjunct Uranus. 27 hours to the start of the eclipse). Gerhard Schroeder, the German Chancellor, crushed opposition parties who opposed his tax reforms; President Putin, of Russia, is waging a campaign against "fat cat" oligarchs; Nearly 30 years after they were dispossessed of their Indian Ocean archipelago, the inhabitants of the Chagos Islands want to return to their homes; Al Gore, the Democratic presidential candidate has moved to increase support among the trade unions; Following the coup, Fiji faces sanctions and a downgrading of its relations with other nations

Here in the UK more than 100,000 removed tonsils and appendices in Leicestershire will be tested following cases of the human form of "mad cow" disease; Computer hackers forced the Cabinet Office to pull the plug on its web site after they daubed it with electronic graffiti.

The Moon has to oppose Mercury and Mars before the Eclipse. The Daze predicts a tough day. Work through it.

Gaze at the Daze this weekend, we promise instant reaction.

The total Lunar Eclipse on Sunday July 16th 2000 is the longest duration total lunar eclipse since August 1859. Totality lasts for 1 hour 47 minutes and 1 second. The eclipse is visible from Asia, Australia, Western America and much of Eastern Africa. It is not visible from Europe and the UK. Nevertheless this is a 'strong' eclipse. Astrologers may well attribute powerful influences to it. The view here is that it is a blisteringly energetic event and that its influence may tend to the wayward and to the climatic.

The Saros series to which this eclipse belongs is at the peak of cycle. This eclipse is member 37 of the series of 71. The last eclipse of this series was July 6th 1982.

The eclipse is at 24 degrees Capricorn, weakly opposite Mars and trine Saturn. Venus is opposite Neptune and sextile Jupiter.

At the moment of greatest eclipse the Moon is conjunct the MC of the Solomon Islands in the Pacific ocean, and is also on the MC of Brisbane. Uranus is conjunct the MC of Fiji and is at lower culmination at London, Venus is conjunct the MC of the Canary Islands. At Detroit USA Jupiter is conjunct the MC, Venus is due east, Neptune due West. Nashville USA has the eclipsed Moon due West, the Sun due east and Saturn conjunct the MC. Pluto is conjunct the MC of Saigon (a city highlighted by the partial solar eclipse two weeks earlier). Across Southern India Neptune rises and Venus sets, the Eclipsed Moon rises at Amritsar India and Lahore in Pakistan. Pluto rises over Crete and southern Greece where also both Jupiter and Saturn sets.

This eclipse is a 'beast', the daze alerts all its readers and visitors.

The buzz among amateur astronomers for the last several months concerns a
comet that may reach naked-eye brightness in mid July. Comet 1999 S4 LINEAR
(named after Lincoln Laboratory Near Earth Asteroid Research, an automated
program that images regions of the night sky looking for asteroids and
comets) may reach anywhere between magnitudes 3 and 5 or 6 around July
19-25. Although not a blockbuster by any means, it's still potentially the
brightest comet we've had since Hale-Bopp's momentous apparition three years
ago. Comet LINEAR may hover between magnitude 5 and 6 until early August. Right
now, it's a small, magnitude-10 fluff of light within the constellation
Triangulum in the pre dawn sky. A 4-inch (10-centimeter) telescope and low
magnification should be able to detect it. You might even try binoculars
.

July 14th 2000 06.00 GMT.

Venus entered Leo yesterday and is in this sign until August 6th. A flamboyant and ardent period ensues, the collective anima will be to the fore. Venus immediately sextiles Jupiter, swirls of indulgence, opposes Neptune on 17th July, potentially very disarming, trines Pluto on 21st, a time to invest? , opposes Uranus on 29th, a touch of the bizarre. The planet finally squares Saturn in a flurry of possible acrimony on August 6th.

Yesterday the 55 day long Fiji crisis ended. In India 60 people were killed in Bombay in an appalling mud slide. At the moment of central eclipse of Sunday's Total Lunar Eclipse, Neptune rises over southern India opposite Venus. Is this tragedy the first event connected with this eclipse? The search for eight year old Sarah in the UK moves back to her locality in Essex. The Daze advises the police to look locally for a woman, known to the family. (see below)

The Moon today enters Capricorn at 11-29 GMT today. The Total Lunar Eclipse in nearly upon us. The next three days are astrologically momentous.

Sussex police continue to seek 8 year old Sarah missing from Saturday (July 1st 2000). Police received a call at 9.26 PM BST. Click for chart of this moment, any hope here?

The call to the police (data from The Times) occurred at a time just 5 hours after the end of a partial eclipse of the Sun. Mercury was retrograde, the Moon Sun, Venus and Mercury all in Cancer, the sign dominating this map, were setting. Capricorn was rising, Scorpio was on the Mid Heaven. The initial viewpoint here is that a woman may be involved and that the circumstances of the case at the outset will be dramatically altered at some point in the next week, before the Lunar Eclipse. Event charts which occur at the time 'between eclipses' are said, in horary astrology (the judgement of events), to be subject to great fateful changes during the course of the event. The daze tentatively suggests that the girl may be found in the locality. We hope and pray that she will be well. This chart reflects a planned event. Powerful forces are at work here, this case is hard work, and may be resolved by sheer effort.

Tony Blair has an intense set of planetary transits during July 2000. Jupiter makes conjunctions with Blair's Jupiter, Mars and Ascendant in his Astrological Natal Chart on June 26th, July 17th and July 25th respectively. All these conjunctions occur in Gemini. Transiting Saturn has been, is, and will be active too. The remarkable astrological fact is that Saturn has still to pass through the same area of the celestial sphere that Jupiter occupies now. The events and experiences of Tony Blair last few weeks have demonstrated a change of fortunes for the British Prime Minister. Things have changed. His progressed Moon entered Scorpio in April 2000, at the same time as the UK's progressed Moon (1801chart). Tony has Sun in Taurus, Saturn is currently in this sign. Experiences have been hard, lessons on doubt learnt, we see a slightly deflated, under performing, father and prime minister. Compassion must be the guide here in analysing anothers personal astrology, but the thought at the daze is that in the case of public figures, it is wise and essential for the society to have astrological information at its fingertips.

What is going on in Tony Blair's Chart? CLICK HERE

The next two days will witness a powerful build up to the 'monster' total lunar eclipse on July 16th.

Although not visible from the UK this is the longest length of total lunar eclipse in our lifetime. (See details below). Also at this time we have in our skies a new comet 'Linear'. This object is a 'fuzzy blob' in Andromeda, by binocular vision right now, but stay with it, it should be visible to the naked eye before months end. The daze seeks to correlate above with below, every astronomical event in the skies has its correspondence on earth, be they occultations, supernovas, eclipses, lunations, sunspots, (at an intense maximum right now), or comets. (see below on comet linear).

July 12th 2000 06.00 GMT. Along with all the events of the past few weeks with the present grouping of planets in the sign of Cancer, and the associated pressure of emotional reactions and tenacious attachment to the 'whirlpool of the past', it is no surprise that the troubles in Northern Ireland continue unabated. Northern Ireland is in danger of "sliding into anarchy", a leading Catholic clergyman said yesterday (Tuesday), as people braced themselves for more loyalist violence in support of the Drumcree marchers.

The Moon is now in Sagittarius, waxing heavily and very slow to the TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE (see below) on Sunday. Mercury still retrograde is inconjunct Pluto, Mars is semisquare Jupiter. These next few days may well be verging to the 'wild', today and Thursday 13th are 'racy' and becoming emotionally more climatic. There is a lot of energy to unfold, a lot of events to happen. Tighten your seat belts. Changes for the better are on the horizon, but this coming lunar eclipse will cause a multitude of eruptions.

July 10th 2000 07.00 GMT.

Serious clashes between students and police in Tehran, Iran on Saturday 8th July. Lets keep a watch on this country, a study on the Irani charts will follow shortly. Thousands of Iranians demonstrated in Berlin today (Monday) against a visit by President Mohammad Khatami despite tight security and incessant rain. Police said about 7,000 protesters had marched through the German capital to the Brandenburg Gate, while about 4,000 officers were on duty for Mr Khatami's visit which is intended to bolster his efforts to revive ties with Europe. (1545 BST)

The Moon is now in Scorpio for two days, and is reasonably well aspected. Tomorrow Venus is Sextile Saturn, a 'building quality' aspect, and one of two planetary aspects this week, (the other being a sextile between Venus and Jupiter on Saturday 15th.) Two days now of a steady but intense quality. On Wednesday the gibbous Moon enters Sagittarius shortly after midnight, slightly reducing the predominance of planets in water signs. Venus enters Leo 08-03 Thursday diluting the strong Cancerian influence we have been subjected to of late and adding more 'fire' to the proceedings, as we approach Sunday's massive Total Lunar Eclipse (see below), and a taste of what lies ahead. The whole week witnesses a crescendo and build up to the climax next Sunday.

Stay tuned to the daze.

July 8th 17.00 GMT.

AMERICAN MISSILE TEST FLOP.

We would not have advised you to test the new missile system just now Mr President, not with the planet Mercury retrograde conjunct the USA national astrological chart Sun, and with Mars square USA Saturn, nor with Venus conjunct USA Mercury. Nevertheless the world today hears of a politically sensitive missile test failure. A massive 60 billion dollar baby in the making fails at the first lesson. Mercury retrograde, the effects, see below.

July 5th 2000 06.00 GMT.

Two more planetary conjunctions this week, both in the sign Cancer, both involving Mercury.

Mercury is at 'inferior conjunction' with the Sun at 11-35 GMT tomorrow July 6th.This is the moment of 'New Mercury', symbollically a point of birth of new ideas, certainly a time to be aware of. Mercury then rushes into Mars on the next day (July 7th) at 14-09. As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, this conjunction occurs again on August 10th when Mercury is direct in motion and catches up and overtakes Mars, in Leo opposite Neptune, at a particularly tense time. Matters unresolved or avoided right now may well re manifest and have to be addressed then. The view here on 'Mercury conjunct Mars' is that it gives rise to specific increases in energetic mental, nervous and physical responses. A wealth of notions and ideas and emotions from people are best given compassionate detatchment, and a wide birth, at this time.

The Moon today entered Virgo at 03-20, moves into Libra on Friday at 06-48. Two days follow of fastidious detail, a mesh of problem solving, selections, and arrangements. The vibe will suit people with their Sun in Earth or Air signs, people with the Sun in Fire or Air may well find these two days hard going.

Latest News is that Comet Linear is visible with binoculars. (June 27th 2000)

July 3rd 2000. 06.00 GMT.

The New Moon enters Leo 02-39 today for two days. After yesterdays retrograde Mercury conjunct Venus, and the wave of 'little' events home and abroad we can expect two days of bigger and uncompromising stand-offs and manoeuvurs.

Danish police on Sunday blamed violent and drug-induced concert-goers for the deaths of eight fans at the Roskilde festival on Saturday. The victims suffocated to death after being pushed to the ground by a group of over-excited members of the audience, said Bent Rungstroem, Roskilde's deputy police commissioner. Yesterday more than 50 businesses in the Chester city centre were under three feet of water this afternoon (Sunday) after flash floods caused by torrential rain hit parts of Northern England. Half the month's usual rain fell in just six hours in some areas.

The Eclipse on Sunday in Cancer set the domestic stage, we at the daze perceived a basically gentle effect from the lunation. The issue common to all humanity right now has an intensely family and tribal focus. A gathering of planets in Cancer at this time between the eclipses.

June 30th 2000 06.00 GMT.

Jupiter enters Gemini today 07-36 for one year. During that time the Major aspects it makes to the outer planets involve a trine to Neptune, July 27th 2000, Dec 9th 2000 and April 5th 2001, one trine to Uranus on June 19th 2001and an opposition to Pluto on Sept 4th 2000, Oct 13th 2000 and May 6th 2001. The emphasis over the next year will be on even greater acceleration in the development of global communication, easier movement and travel and further extensive and expansive scientific breakthroughs. Jupiter was last in Gemini back in 1988 and 1989. Jupiter will leave Gemini on July 13th 2001.

This next forty eight hours represents an important period. The Moon is in Gemini today, void from 11-48 GMT. She then enters Cancer 03-11 GMT on July 1st the day of the eclipse. On this day the Sun is conjunct Mars 15-50 GMT.

The partial solar eclipse on July 1st 2000 is the first of three eclipses in this calendar month, and this one is only visible from the southern tip of south America. This eclipse is a member of a Saros series which has nearly concluded its cycle. The series began way back in the 13th Century and will finish after just another three similar partial eclipses, over the next sixty years, at the South Pole. The last eclipse in this Saros series was on June 21st 1982, the one prior to this was in June 1964.

The eclipse on July 1st 2000 begins 18.07 GMT and finishes at 20.58 GMT. At the moment of maximum eclipse (19.32) it is Sunset at Gibraltar, local Noon across California, and Sunrise at New Zealand and at Tokyo Japan. The Sun and Moon are at lower culmination at Karachi and at Kabul. The Eclipse at 10 degrees Cancer is conjunct Mars and Venus, (Mars rises at Tokyo) and quinqucx Pluto. This point in the zodiac is opposite the Sun in the United Kingdom's (1801) national chart.

At the moment of maximum eclipse, Pluto rises across Paraguay and Argentina, Uranus rises at Gorki (USSR) and Ankara (Turkey). Jupiter and Saturn rise over Borneo and Saigon.

Eclipses of the Sun symbolise New Beginnings. This one is closely conjunct Mars hence the New Beginning this time is especially energised, however the placement of the eclipse in the Saros cycle, is near the end. The new message of this particular Saros is likewise nearly at an end. The duration of this eclipse is small. Its influence might be considered by astrologers to be correspondingly small. What is does do is to set the scene for the following Full Moon which is a very strong Total Lunar Eclipse.

Click here to read about the total lunar eclipse on July 16th 2000.

June 28th 2000 06.00 GMT.

The old accelerating Moon is in Taurus. Its phase becomes balsamic today. We are in those 'broody' days as the first of three July 2000 eclipses approach, (July 1st). Jupiter is about to enter Gemini (June 30th). The giant planet will remain there for a year.

We hear of two huge scientific announcements over the last five days.

1) The Human DNA mapping is completed, announced on June 26th 2000,

2) Increasing evidence of 'running water on Mars in the past' announced on June 22nd 2000.

Mercury retrograde and we read of increasing travel delays, Travellers last night (Tuesday) faced the threat of disruption because of a planned strike by Greek airport staff and possible action by officers on P&O ferries. Officers also on P&O ferries at several UK ports have voted to strike in a dispute over pay, their union announced yesterday. The Daze itself was unable to upload to the Internet over the past weekend due to Internet Service provider faults. Could anyone make money out of the phenomena associated with Mercury's motion retrograde?

Zimbabwe now the worlds most rapidly declining economy.

The daze takes a look at the first two of the impending three eclipses in July 2000.

June 24th 2000. 16.00 GMT.

The two powerful events of the week past involved especially horrific and terribly tragic, collective deaths. It seems that deliberate human actions caused both events.

1) Fifteen backpackers, including several young Britons, died when a fire swept through a busy Australian hostel, police said yesterday. Fire-fighters were called to the two-storey Palace Backpackers Hostel in Childers, 130 miles north of Brisbane, at 12.30am local time (1500 BST) Thurs 22nd June. Grievous scene down under. A tragic astrological chart. Aries rises, sudden fire, Mars (chart ruler) conjunct Venus in Cancer. Astrologically a very weak Mars. One man has been arrested in connection with the blaze. The daze assumes a deeply emotional reason lies behind the wilful act, with Venus conjunct Mars some five hours before the event, we as astrologers can offer some explanation to the forces at work here.

2) The 58 illegal immigrants found in the back of a sealed lorry at Dover in the early hours of Monday 19th June, died from carbon dioxide poisoning, an inquest heard today (Friday). Graham Perrin, coroner's officer for Dover and Deal, told the inquest that an air vent on the side of the refrigerated container was closed for the ferry crossing from Zeebrugge, Belgium, to Dover, stopping the supply of air. The Moon was in Capricorn, at apogee (very slow) and opposite Mercury (also very slow) when the tragic journey started in Holland. Money was the incentive. Greed and desperation rule here.

MERCURY is now RETROGRADE. Twists and turns on the wheel of life as this planet's apparent motion is now opposite in direction to the general flow of the solar system until July 17th. Minds change, delays in communication and travel are inevitable during this period. Unravellings and re ravellings. A significantly illusive period, don't try to pin thoughts down, or try to hang on to new ideas, deals, agreements, wait and watch until this planet turns direct and these three approaching eclipses are over. Be warned, be aware, the times will be strange. Two examples already today

1)British Airways said today (Saturday) that almost all of its flights to and from France would be cancelled on Monday due to a planned one-day strike by French air traffic controllers.

2) Talks aimed at freeing 31 hostages held by coup plotters in Fiji's parliament ended in deadlock today (Saturday) but an official said a new attempt to reach agreement would start Sunday.

Voting in Zimbabwe begins today. All eyes on the election. The Moon is in Aries ( FROM 17-56 TODAY) at last quarter 01-01 TOMORROW. Cardinal energy abounds. Stay tuned.

One final news item right now Israeli troops opened fire today (Saturday) on a Jordanian delegation visiting the Lebanese-Israeli border, wounding four people, the head of the Jordanian Doctors Association said.

June 22nd 2000. 07.00 GMT.

The Moon enters Pisces 07-52 GMT today. During its journey through this sign Mercury turns retrograde 08-27 GMT Friday 23rd June. The Moon is at last quarter 01-01 GMT Sunday 24th at 3 degrees Aries. The next Notable Astrological event before the three July eclipses, see below, is the ingress of Jupiter into Gemini on June 30th. The daze will examine this ingress shortly. We are now in a brief period awaiting the eclipses, they can cast shadows, so to speak, backwards in time, this is a time to wait and to watch. With the Sun now in Cancer and Moon in Pisces, both water signs the immediate concerns are emotional.

June 20th 2000. 07.00 GMT.

We are now in the last day before the moment of Solstice. The Moon is in Aquarius. Venus and Mars are approaching conjunction in Cancer. Mercury, also in Cancer is hovering about to turn retrograde. Ten days after the Solstice is the first of three eclipses in one Calendar month. The middle Eclipse, a total Eclipse of the Moon is the longest for 150 years.

With the passing of this Summer Solstice the daze celebrates its first six months.

June 18th 2000 09.00 GMT.

The astrological energy is now swinging towards domestic activity. If you want to be in harmony with the times, focus your energy into work in the home. Mars is now in Cancer for several weeks, Mercury is already there, both Venus and the Sun will tumble into the sign of the crab within the next three days. The Moon is in Capricorn until 19.26 GMT Monday 19th. We now witness two days of pragmatism leading us towards the Summer Solstice.

The News reports that four hundred and fifty people, mainly English fans, were detained in custody early today (Sunday) in the Belgian town of Charleroi where last night's 1-0 victory kept England's Euro 2000 hopes alive. Thousands of travellers were left stranded when the National Air Traffic Services mainframe computer failed. It was the second time the system failed in a week. The Daze expects loads more delays of all kinds as Mercury turns retrograde on Friday 23rd June 2000. Iran's new parliament urged an urgent review of the country's tough press law and warned the conservative judiciary chief to respect the rights of political prisoners. An overwhelming majority of MPs voted to immediately change what critics say is a draconian press law passed just months ago by the outgoing conservative-dominated parliament, to muzzle Iran's then flourishing independent press. The Solomon Islands parliament will meet on June 28 to elect a new prime minister, leaving the troubled Pacific nation rudderless for at least another ten days, reports from the capital Honiara said today (Sunday). The Solomon islands feature significantly in two of the three eclipses in July 2000. (see eclipse reports below).

June 16th 2000. 15.00 GMT

Curiously enough on Friday 16th June as the Moon is exactly opposite the Sun and at the peak of fullness 22.28 GMT, an occultation of a fifth magnitude star '58 OPHIUCHUS' by the Moon is centred on certain UK and European latitudes. The astronomical event would require a small telescope to observe, but it adds an extra dimension to the lunation and to the time. The disappearance of the star occurs at 21.25 (UK midlands) and reappearance occurs 22.41. As above so below, we here at the daze expect terrestial events to occur as the occulation occurs.

We are approaching another Eclipse Season. Three Eclipses are in store for us in July. The next full Moon is June 16th and is the last one before these three. All eyes firstly however on the Summer Solstice (in the Northern Hemisphere), The year is approaching its summer solstice climax in the Northern Hemisphere and the mid winter point in the Southern. June 21st 2000. This is the next astrologically important day. By syncronistic coincidence on that day Venus is conjunct Mars at 3 degrees Cancer. This 'holy day' deserves a celebration.

The Moon is in Cancer today. We are in an astrologically quieter period now for the first part of June. Today and tomorrow until 17.47 GMT (when the Moon enters Leo and becomes crescent.), a domestic atmosphere pervades the ecosphere, a sense of protection, drawing together, saving up.

June 3rd 2000. 00.00 GMT.

Today June 3rd, sees Venus opposing Pluto, the daze always expects salacious events in store when these two planets interact. The Moon is very fast zipping through Gemini, balmy and breezy, new, swish and waxing. The Moon enters Cancer 16.31 GMT., seeking rapid conjunction with Mercury.

David Hempleman-Adams, the British balloonist, today (Saturday) touched down safely at the end of his epic flight to the North Pole. This adventure reached its climax at the time of the New Moon yesterday. As I write the old Moon is in Taurus approaching a union with the ongoing conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. The Moon reaches the two planets at 05.31 and 06.09 June 1st respectively. A weighty announcement in store? A challenging two day period over this intense New Moon period ensues. A buzzy feel to the next two days, much movement, light but sharp.

Yet another computer Internet virus 'janet simons' causes e-mail havoc on the world wide web.

Astrological 'weather forecast.'

(for all signs)

These few days are marked by an unmistakable approach of an intense new Moon opposite Pluto on June 2nd 2000. As the days pass a definite feeling of a growing power struggle and challenge will be felt. Around this vibration there are a number of more pleasant and positive aspects which serve to create a very interesting few days.

On Sunday 28th May 2000, the accelerating waning Moon, one day past the last quarter, starts the day in Pisces, there is a stillness in the astrological atmosphere, at the start of the day, a moment of reflection, dreamy and slumber filled. The Moon is 'void of course' until 10-09 GMT when she enters Aries. There then commences a broad rush of events and activities which will extend for the next forty eight hours as the Moon makes a series of easy and positive aspects to the grouping of planets in Gemini. Expect an interesting day, fairly quick moving after the rather lethargic past two days. Jupiter and Saturn are exactly conjunct by celestial longitude at 15-59 GMT on 28th. The day has the potential for great momentum.

All Monday 29th May the Moon continues to ripple out pleasant aspects to the Sun, Pluto and Mars. Ventures begun well yesterday continue to flourish. A storming urging atmosphere pervades. Enthusiastic energy abounds, eyes sharp, minds alert.

From some forty five minutes prior to midnight at start of Tuesday 30th the Moon enters a 'void of course' period, for sixteen hours, this is a time to drift, momentary void of purpose, the Moon is old, rising one hour ahead of the Sun but gaining speed, its phase becomes balsamic at 04-56 GMT, at that time also, Mercury enters Cancer beginning a nine week stay in that sign initiating reasons for a thriftier more circumspect and calculating period. Venus rises to a trine aspect to Neptune adding a taste of something exotic, deeply mysterious and alluring to the day

The old Moon enters Taurus at 15-03 GMT on Tuesday 30th, things really take a change from that time. A deep earthy feeling will then exist which extends for the rest of this period under review. The Moon begins to sail in the sign of the bull all day towards the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, she arrives there around 06.00 GMT on June 1st. We will then be approaching a time of the difficult New Moon on June 2nd (12-15 GMT) opposite Pluto. Take with you what light and dreams and power you have gathered to you over these few days to greet and face the challenge of the New Moon and of the future.

The great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn occurs on Sunday May 28th. May 23rd 2000 16.00 GMT.

The Sun now in Gemini, Moon in Aquarius, Mercury trines a stationary Uranus. Venus enters Gemini 13.15 GMT on May 25th. Things cooler now, common sense withdrawals and down scaling are interwoven in the news stories. Israel withdrawing from Lebanon. The first battalion the Parachute Regiment is to be replaced in Sierra Leone by Four Two Commando Royal Marines. News reports sufficed in the last two days illustrating plans for Nuclear Weapon reductions. One hundred armed Islamic rebels descended from the mountains in the southern Philippines today (Tuesday) to negotiate the fate of 21 mostly foreign hostages. The unexpected meeting between the Abu Sayyaf rebels and Abdusakur Tan, the Muslim provincial governor, in a local town hall revived hopes of a breakthrough in the stalled talks for the release of the captives. Only from Zimbabwe are we receiving reports of possible increasing tension.

May 20th 2000.

Jupiter square Uranus 13.10. The Sun enters Gemini 17.51. Mars opposes Pluto 21.12. Possibly a violent conclusion to this period. At least a leaning to the fanatical. A chapter in the story is completed today. Eight days remain to the Jupiter Satrurn 'great conjunction'.

Hold on, the times are intense, but stay with it. The Astrological planetary alignments of the present time are profuse and very 'sharp'. Events are drawing us to them. Jupiter and Saturn conjunct May 28th, in tropical Taurus. Beginning of a new wave, with much momentum.

We here at the Daze reckon that the Computer Virus makers select astrological timings to release their creations. A potentially more pernicious virus than the 'Love bug' was released today as Pluto the Moon, and Mercury aligned to a tight opposition, the FBI are onto the job. Phew! With Mars still to oppose Pluto, Saturday 20th 21-12 GMT, the odds would tend towards 'still more to follow'. The month of Gemini begins 17-51 GMT on 20th. Genetically manipulated rape seed oil impurities now spreading across the UK. Prince Charles making speeches against GM generally. Science gone too far? The British Prime minister's wife gives birth to a boy. The Pope's eightieth birthday on the day of the full Moon, yesterday. A climatic time in his life. Its all happening. Birth and conclusion, and all the time, in the background British troop and airforce are at work and play in Sierra Leone., shortly to be joined by more UN troops.

Zimbabwe getting whacked at cricket by England. Difficult to play well when your home country is at civil war. Elections set June 24th and 25th. More to follow...stay in tune...

The full Moon is upon us. Exact 07-36 GMT 18th May 2000. Click here for full Moon chart.

Tomorrow Venus conjuncts Saturn 12.57. The Moon enters Sagittarius 12.10. The stage is set for big deals. The three days starting today are important and significant. Mars is applying opposition to Pluto. The major world event appears to be the happenings in Sierra Leone. At the moment of full Moon, Mars in early Gemini rises over the coast off Freetown Sierra Leone, Pluto in Sagittarius, sets over the Sierra Leone Liberia border. There is an undercurrent of growing malevolence in the astrological atmosphere, tensions are rising, an air of definite seriousness exists.

Ensehede fireworks factory explosion. 20 dead 562 injured. Click here for chart.

CNN news give the time as 2pm 13th May. We at the daze consider this explosion is related to the Mars Pluto opposition which is building up in the skies and will be exact May 20th.

Mars seemingly very active in chart. We see Mars and Pluto square ascendant, Mars contacts Pluto/MC midpoint and the Mars/Sun midpoint conjuncts MC. Mars/Saturn midpoint also conjunct Mercury and MC.

May 13th 2000 21.00 GMT.

There is a rare 'graze' of Venus and Jupiter on May 17th 2000. Venus will pass within one Jupiter diameter of the gas giant. The graze is rather close to the Sun for naked eye observation but telescopes in Europe are well placed to witness the event. The last such close graze of these two planets occurred in 1892. The next 2065. Certainly a once in a lifetime experience for adult earth dwellers now. The time of closest contact 10.31 GMT. The planetary pair at the moment of closest encounter are on the MC over Leningrad, Turkey, Egypt, and remarkably Harare, Zimbabwe.

Astrological weather forecast for the period May 13th to May 20th 2000

May 13th. The Moon in Virgo till 18.28 GMT. The day starts with Mars trine Neptune. The advice here is to get jobs complete while the Moon remains in Virgo, the 'atmosphere' from 18.28 will be more conducive to relaxed social situations. The major planetary aspect today however is the peak of long lasting Uranus square Saturn. This one has been in effect for most of the past twelve months.

May 14th. Mercury zips into Gemini today. A plethora of rippling ideas surface in the collective consciousness. Loads of ideas interactions and fast moving reactions will permeate every day from 07.12 today to the 30th May 2000. Wake up to the buzz ladies and gentlemen.

May 15th. The Moon is now gibbous (approaching the full). Serious astrological alignments are in sway. Something important is building up. The day emphasises both war and peace. Diplomacy and conflict.

May 16th. The Moon enters Scorpio 02.17. A large measure of intense situations erupt. A potential for brooding malevolence, fixity of purpose and will power. Feels like nothing will change but the truth is that much change is ahead of us. Not an easy day.

May 17th. The Full Moon opposes Venus, Jupiter and Saturn today. A climatic day.

Venus astronomically grazes Jupiter 10.32, a very rare event, their celestial co-ordinates almost exact. Mercury trines Neptune, imaginations running wild. This is a momentous day in time. Events intense, the mood swollen and blistering. A fateful day.

May 18th. Full Moon exact 07.36 GMT. Venus conjuncts Saturn 12.57. The young maid meets with the old seer. Their meeting is profound. The Moon enters Sagittarius 12.10. The stage is set for big deals. The three days starting today are important and significant.

May 19th The last day of Taurus. The Moon and Pluto in Sagittarius are opposite a conjunction of Mercury and Mars. The conjunction is exact at 12.27. This is the moment when the six planets aligned in Taurus and Gemini are clustered most tightly. Potentially a far reaching day, wayward, wild and over the mark. Mouths and minds in top gear. Listen to the babble, be aware of the moment.

May 20th Jupiter square Uranus 13.10. The Sun enters Gemini 17.51. Mars opposes Pluto 21.12. Possibly a violent conclusion to this period. At least a leaning to the fanatical. A chapter in the story is completed today. Eight days remain to the Jupiter Satrurn 'great conjunction'.

May 10th 2000 19.00 GMT. As I write the Taurean Sun is conjunct Saturn, square a first quarter Moon in Leo, and square Uranus in Aquarius. A tense and serious time is upon us.

Sierra Leone continues to dominate world news. Escalating anarchy, chaos and brutality appear to be the hall marks of this country at this time. British paratroops are assisting the evacuation of nationals. Rebel forces attacking government troops, reports of unimaginable horror and inhumanity reach our ears. Check out the chart of this country. Six bodies in Earth Signs. At the time of the country's independence Jupiter and Saturn were conjunct and very badly afflicted. Sun in Taurus opposite Neptune in Scorpio (square that Jupiter Saturn conjunction), and now in May 2000 we see transiting Neptune square natal Sun and conjunct Jupiter. There appears to be a resonance between the time of independence and now. Note the predominance of earth, the Jupiter Saturn conjunction and the difficult Sun Neptune aspects. There is a harsh, hard, confusing and chaotic mesh of astrological energies in this chart.

May 5th 2000. 17.00 GMT

There has been a vast amount of world news of an particularly intense nature this week. As the planets grouped themselves on the far side of the Sun yesterday, we hear in Harare Zimbabwe of government backed army 'set up for farm occupations'. In the Philippines we hear of the 'Muslim rebels' splitting up their hostages in the ongoing stand off with the Government. In Sri Lanka events are really heating up as the Government imposes sweeping censorship while the Tamil Tigers continue to consolidate their territorial gain in the Jafna Peninsular. Hizbullah rocket attack on Israel meets with military response in Lebanon. Across the world the Internet became clogged with the most powerful virus yet 'The Lovebug'. It spread like wild fire around 10-24 GMT on May 4th, five hours after the Stellium New Moon. There was an earthquake in central Indonesia yesterday magnitude 6.5 No exact time available. In the UK we witness a political swing away from labour with the results of nation-wide local elections, one by election and one Mayoral election in London. The announcement of this last result occurred just after the Moon conjunct Mars in the first degree of Gemini. Ken Livingstone is Gemini. From Russia (with love) we hear yesterday of the alleged first 'complete eye transplant'. In Sierra Leone comes news of serious hostage taking and general crescendoing brutality.

What a remarkable series of events to coincide with the planetary alignment. The intensity of the period is far from over. With Mars now newly arrived in Gemini, the Daze predicts an even greater assortment of seemingly unrelated news events. We perceive the current 'astrological pressure' as not an easy phenomena to cope with or respond to.

May 1st 2000 21.00 GMT

Protests against Global Capitalism took place in London today. Some ugly confrontations with police reported. The planet Uranus traditionally associated with protest and rebellion challenges the stellium of planets in Taurus with a hard square aspect, especially tight with Saturn, traditionally associated with Establishment. We can expect protest 'going a little wrong' at this time, one of the signs of the time. Other news today speaks of Muslim separatists holding a group of hostages in the south of the Philippines, Police in Indonesia shooting dead two students during a protest.

The planets are amassing in Taurus, square Uranus. These are very special days as the stellium tightens to the New Moon on 4th May. Seven celestial bodies will then be aligned. The tightest point of the clustering (including the Moon) is 08-08 GMT on May 5th. The tightest point just for the planets involved (all of them out to Saturn) occurs on the day of the next full Moon 17th May at 10-32 GMT.

Click here for itinerary of the conjunctions and brief report about this period.

April 30th 10.00 GMT . The first little wave of the current once in a lifetime grouping of planets occurred on Friday 28th April, Mercury was conjunct Venus. This conjunction coincided with movements towards peace in Zimbabwe, Russia and Germany exchange stolen arts treasures. In America the police chief of Miami steps down in wake of the Gonzales affair. In the UK the motor industry appears to be in its death throws. A severe lack of rainfall in India. The 'Euro' currency reaches a new low against the US dollar. Also in the UK scientists have reported a null return on incidences of CJD (mad cow) disease in 3000 tissue samples. The all clear has not yet been sounded. Scientists announce new theory that the geometry of the universe is indeed flat and that the expansion of the universe will continue for ever. In Sri Lanka the 'Tamil Tigers' are on the offensive in the fifteen year old war and have secured the Jafna peninsular. The planet Mercury entered Taurus 03-54 GMT today, Venus enters Taurus 02-49 tomorrow 1st May. Six planets are now in Taurus. The Moon is in Aries from 00.56 May 1st.

The great stellium.

New Moon May 4th 2000.

The chart, report and itinerary of conjunctions for this momentous New Moon and month ahead coinciding with the planetary cluster or stellium in Taurus is available to view click here.

All the planets out to Saturn are gathered with the Sun and Moon on one side of the Earth. A series of planetary conjunctions occurs starting with Mercury and Venus meeting in late Aries on April 28th. The period of the Stellium influence can be considered to act from April 30th 2000 at 09-14 GMT and to extend to May 19th 2000 at 20-18. These are the times between which the grouping of planets occupy less than twenty degrees of separation. This thin band of zodiacal space extends through the sign of Taurus.

The Message is mainly one of new beginnings and new situations. This time is a richly fertile breading ground for new events and experiences. Serious developments relating to money, resources and the world perception of finance and security, and ecological conservationism will stem from this time. Astrologically much importance is attached to this period. There is a wealth of energy. The manifestations of years ahead may be traced to this period of their seeding time. This period has intensely hot astrological points of crisis, one noteworthy time is around the full Moon 18th May, another is on the 19th May when the Moon and Pluto oppose Mercury and Mars, all four bodies and the Earth in the same plane in space.

This period is followed by another period of intensity 28th May to 2nd June around the time of the Jupiter Saturn conjunction and next New Moon opposite Pluto. Click here for review of this period.

We here at the daze will be seeking to correlate this astrological event with the news stories as they break on earth.

The Astrological Horoscope of Elian Gonzales.

Cuban refugee. World famous five year old. Born seven days after a Total Lunar Eclipse, this boy has a wealth of Sagittarian 'glamour' in his horoscope.

Plucked from the ocean, assisted in the water 'by Dolphins'. Taken by force by armed forces of the US government, this child has been at the vortex of a storm involving Cuba and America. People have spoken of this 'miracle child' being the future deliverer of freedom to Cuba. His chart (data to be verified) has a sling shaping. The image of David and Goliath springs to mind. Sun, Venus and Mercury in Sagittarius, wait till he speaks to the world! He will have lots to say, and be mindful of the Total Eclipse seven days earlier to his birth, there lies much mystery. Mars in Capricorn denotes real resilience and strength, a survivor.

If this is the day of his birth, if we are correct on that fact, his progressed New Moon is this year, it is conjunct his natal Mars, this may just be the start.

Elian Gonzales story 'rages on'. The Sagittarian 'glamour' of the life story and destiny of this little boy intoxicates a nation. Elian Gonzalez Cuban Boy Refugee click here for link.

APRIL 23rd 2000 20.00 GMT

The disseminating Moon is in Capricorn and very slow. The astrological mood now swings to a more sober and pragmatic mode for the next two days. Mercury is sextile Uranus on Tuesday 25th. Original schemes take root, there may well be a quieter couple of days to follow.

Wednesday 26th sees the Moon in Aquarius approaching last quarter, and the Sun is square Neptune at 11.35. A potential that day for some way out operations, intentions becoming unclear.

Thursday 27th has no aspects of its own but prepares the stage for the conjunction of Mercury and Venus on Friday 28th at 13.27. This is the major planetary event of the week. Near the end of Aries the conjunction of these two planets, which happens a few times every year can be the indication of a merry time to be had. Mercury overtakes Venus this time, and has the upper hand, The 'energy' of Venus does not function well in Aries, the head rules the heart this week, the fast response wins, the first motion sets all else in motion. Twenty days now as the planets are drawing together for the great stellium of 2000, all the planets out to Saturn and the Sun and Moon align on one side of the Earth during May 4th. This amassing of planets surrounds the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn which occurs on a regular eighteen year period. The peak of the planetary 'union' in on May 28th this year.

April 19th to 23rd 2000

The Sun entered Taurus 18-41 GMT April 19th. During the following twelve hours the Scorpio Moon forms a T-square with Mars and Uranus. Brutality may abound. The energy is sudden, hard hitting and forceful. Mercury is trine Pluto 18-41 on 20th April, a penetrating insight is available and answers may be found. The Moon enters Sagittarius 05-00 on 21st. The astrological atmosphere is then lighter and more expansive for the next two and a half days. Venus sextiles Uranus 07-54 on 23rd April possibly adding a dash of an unusual twist of fate to the Easter weekend. Easter Sunday witnesses a combination of three outer planets making a momentary symmetry either side of the celestial equator. Potentially a remarkable Easter. The Moon then very slow enters Capricorn 17-48 GMT. on 23rd April. Stay tuned to the Daze.

April 18th 2000 22.00 GMT

Moon just past the Full enters Scorpio, The last day of Aries 2000.

Zimbabwe's independence reaches twenty years of age today April 18th 2000. The Full Moon on this twentieth birthday is an indication of a powerfully climatic time in the country's history. The news spotlight is directed at Zimbabwe. Reports at this time speak of white farmers being attacked, driven from their farms and murdered by 'war veteran' black countrymen. The country appears to be sliding towards anarchy and violence. Police and government, led by premier Robert Mugabe, appear to be standing by, uncaring, allowing the violence to proceed unchecked. Check out the Zimbabwe independence chart and report click here.

April 16th 2000 18.00 GMT.

The News shows Putin arriving in the UK to talks with Tony Blair and the Queen. Street battles around the International Monetary Fund meeting in Washington are simultaneously happening. Mars now leaving the conjunction with Saturn, a hangover of planetary tension focuses on Zimbabwe, Washington and London. The Moon in Libra pulls and decelerates to the Full. (see below).

Tony Blair /Vladmir Putin relationship chart Click here. The daze utilises the astrological relationship chart technique.

The relationship chart shows the Sun at the very start of Aquarius and a crescent Aries Moon. It signifies a 'youthful' inspired relationship. Venus and Mars are conjunct in Pisces trine Uranus. This relationship is novel, profound and energetic. 'Generating' or 'cardinal' energy abounds in an alignment involving Uranus opposite a Capricornian Mercury and forming a T-square with the Saturn Neptune conjunction in Libra. The full Moon on 18th April 2000 is conjunct this point in the T-square conjunction. The relationship chart Pluto sextiles this position at the end of Libra. This relationship emphasises power and control. This is a fateful union. The Saturn Jupiter conjunction in the skies later this spring is closely square the relationship Pluto. The progressed Sun in Pisces has recently passed over the Piscean conjunction of Venus and Mars, seemingly activating this relationship into existence. Progressed Moon in Sagittarius is at last quarter, the Putin Blair relationship will draw the eyes of the world to it.

The Full Moon on 18th April click here for chart and Astrocartography shows the Sun Moon opposition squared by Neptune and the Lunar North Node in a square of fixed and cardinal signs. Three planets, Mars Saturn and Jupiter in Taurus, squared by Uranus in Aquarius, could be taken to symbolises a rebellious protest against the financial institutions in the name of humanity, two planets Venus and Mercury in Aries trained by Pluto, an atmosphere of positive regenerating energy, two others Uranus and Neptune in Aquarius, the Full Moon at the last degree of Libra, an emphasis on Positive, Fixed and Fire signs. No water in the chart. The time is high for a rapid development of a diplomatic activity. There is a promise of the formalising of an agreed agenda at this time. Expect events of note. This is a dynamic Full Moon midway between Lunar Eclipses. The Moon enters Libra 16th April 12.36 GMT, Venus is trine Pluto 00.08 17th April. The Full Moon is on 18th at 17.42 GMT. We will then be into the last day of Aries 2000.

The Daze reminds UK readers of the fact that the Progressed Moon of the UK chart enters Scorpio on 14th April 2000, and by remarkable coincidence the Progressed Moon of Tony Blair UK Prime Minister has his progressed Moon enter Scorpio three days later. This synchronisation of progressed ingresses may occur at an important point in the history of the nation. Watch this space.

April 16th 2000. 07.00 GMT. Mars is conjunct Saturn. This occurs every two years. Last time the conjunction was in April 1998 in Aries, the next one in 02 is in Scorpio, the one after that, a repeat triple in Scorpio / Sagittarius. Yesterday Wall Street prices fell historically led by Internet shares. Protests in Washington USA against Capitalism, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank spring meeting. Police tightening grip on the protesters. In Zimbabwe white farmers on the run. Japan and Norway fail to establish a restart to whaling.

April 14TH 2000 22.00 GMT

Mars is conjunct Saturn in the skies right now. Exact 20.28 GMT Saturday 15th April. The Dow Jones index is falling by the hour as we speak. Internet/Hi-Tech shares are the cause of the fall. The conjunction in Taurus emphasises real estate, real produce, real profit. In the short term these Internet stocks appear over inflated. Mars Saturn symbolises 'accelerating hard with the breaks full on', something heats up, nothing gives. Ethiopian millions await our actions. The phase of the Moon is approaching Full just to add to the tension. Can you feel it? The Daze represents the beginning of an on line instant reaction and astrological commentary to the never ending fast moving international news story which goes on 24 hours a day 365.25+ days per year. April 13th 22.00 GMT.

Elian Gonzalez six year old Cuban Refugee hits the news again, seems this Sagittarian child is the news right now, see his chart and extensive link above. Ethiopia screams out for international help. A ferry disaster in the Philippines, two hundred on board, at least fifty drowned, many children. All the time Mars approaches its conjunction with Saturn, tightening the planetary grip, exact on Sunday. The Moon is in Leo now, waxing and slowing down, Mercury in Aries chasing Venus eight and a half degrees away. Mercury and Mars are semi-square in a week of many semi-squares.

April 9th 2000. 18.00 GMT.

News this evening speaks of continuing racial problems in Zimbabwe, Evacuation of Nuclear power station workers in Kent UK and an emergency declared, 'carbon dioxide leaks' given as the official reason, no one hurt, 'no danger of radiation'. A quick look at the UK national chart reveals a hot bed of transiting aspects underway at the moment. The UK (1801) chart has transiting Saturn square Venus, transiting Mars and Jupiter conjunct natal Mars. The Moon enters Cancer 00-17 GMT Monday 10th April, the day sees two semi-square aspects, one between Mercury and Jupiter, the other and Venus Uranus. Suggests a day which contains a measure of rather erratic, defensive and wayward responses. Venus sextiles Neptune on Tuesday 11th, the Moon now at first quarter speaks a softer note, still tenacious but less disturbing. The Moon enters Leo on the 12th, Mercury enters Aries on Thursday 13th, more and more fire signs in emphasis, hot stuff, Mercury speeding up, hot on the scent of Venus. The Moon in Virgo on 14th, another semi-square aspect that day between Mercury and Mars. More realistic and tempering events that day while Saturday 15th witnesses yet another semi-square, Mercury Saturn this time, (the spate of these semi-square ends with Mercury and Uranus on 17th), the pressure building all week will be the Mars Saturn Conjunction in the skies on Sunday 16th, and the Full Moon two days later on the 18th. Something tough is on the horizon, something begins to bite.

April 7th 2000 16.00 GMT A fast Moon (perigee 08.22 8th April), crescent in phase (Moon semi-square Sun 04.04 8th April) enters Gemini 21.59 today. A buzz in the air, a lighter, more electric vibration pervades the next two days. Fire and Air. The moment encourages the original and the novel in nature, Sun is sextile Uranus. A time ripe for a unique viewpoint. A pioneer. Venus is in Aries, a flash of the collective anima Mars applying conjunction with Saturn, as is Jupiter, all in Taurus, solid vision. The Moon in Gemini, liquid laughter.

April 5th 2000 19.38 GMT.The New Moon has just entered Taurus. Mercury is semi-sextile Uranus, Mars will conjunct Jupiter at 06.42 GMT tomorrow April 6th. The Moon will conjunct Jupiter at 13.10, and fourteen minutes later at 13.24 GMT the Moon will conjunct Mars. Venus enters Aries at 18.39, Mercury is then Semi-Square Neptune, and the Moon will conjunct Saturn at 22.51. The optical view of this triple conjunction can be seen in the West shortly after Sunset. Click here for the view. All in all this day is astrologically very special. A touch of everything, surges, slumps and showdowns. Today (April 5th) in the run up to all this planetary activity the world stock markets suffered a blow, as Hi-Tech and Internet stocks took a tumble. In London the 'worst failure in the Stock Market's History' occurred as the exchange was paralysed by a computer breakdown. The triple conjunction in Taurus suggests an emphasis and focus of events on money matters and earth resources. We have news of an African famine affecting nineteen million people in Ethiopia. There is talk of massive Financial mergers of European banks on the horizon. Other news reports tonight speak of the growing hole in the Ozone layer in the Stratosphere over the Northern Hemisphere.

The Daze will help you make the connection between above and below. Stay tuned.

Have you seen Vladimir Putin's chart? He will be the new Russian President. The birth data requires confirmation but if you fancy a look at the astrological chart of this Sun Libran Moon Taurus man click here.

April 3rd 2000 22.00 GMT. The very old Moon right now is in Aries hurtling between the Earth and the Sun. The New Moon is at 18.13 GMT April 4th.. This New Moon is the second since the Solar Eclipse of Feb 5th. It is trine Pluto, sextile Uranus. Could be a good one. As Thursday's Triple Conjunction builds up we witness political turbulence in Zimbabwe, and news of escalating famine in Ethiopia. The triple Conjunction. Mars Jupiter and Saturn are within seven degrees of celestial longitude and tightening. This is a mighty combination of planets. The moon will join the triple conjunction on Thursday April 6th 2000. On that day ( and the previous one) the remarkable optical arrangement will be visible from Earth in the skies of evening. This is how the build up goes. The Moon entered Pisces 1st April 08.13 GMT. This very old but accelerating Moon was conjunct Mercury 13.47 on the 2nd, and Venus 07.35 on the 3rd. The Sun was trine to Pluto over these few days, the time right for some changes, the 'atmosphere' then could be potentially positive. The Moon is new on the 4th April 18.13. Click here for New Moon Chart.

The 5th of April sees the Moon largely void in Aries. Then the next day after the Moon enters Taurus the alignment peaks. The planet Mars will go on to conjunct Saturn on April 15th 2000. three days before the next Full Moon. Here we go again, another important astrological wave, a global and planetary event awaits us. Stay tuned to the daze, add us to your favorites.

March 31st 2000. 22.00 GMT

The News today sees the eruption of Mount Usu in Japan. Dormant for twenty years, today huge pressure forced volcanic ash and two mile high black cloud into the skies. Thousands of people affected. Mars was square Neptune as this one blew. It had been 'growling for days'.

March 29th 2000. 22.00 GMT.

Mercury entered Pisces on 5th Feb. 2000. It has been in this sign since then and will stay there until 13th April. The planet had its retrograde period, where its motion appears in the skies from Earth, to go backwards in a loop as it swings between the Earth and the Sun in its orbit, from 21st Feb. to 14th March. During this prolonged stay in Pisces Mercury squares Pluto three times. The first was on 13th Feb. 2000. The second was on 29th Feb. 2000, and the third and final time is tomorrow March 30th at 22.57 GMT. The course of the 'Peace Process' in Northern Ireland fell apart on 15th Feb. 2000. The breakdown occurred just after the date of the first Mercury Pluto square, when Mercury was almost stationary. The second square occurred at a time when the world watched the TV pictures coming out of Mozambique but failed to move. It remains to be seen what occurs tomorrow. This is a re-emphasis of a serious planetary note.

Uganda.

Dark stories of over 1000 deaths relating to and apparently perpetrated by a 'Christian' cult are emerging from this African country. Bodies are being discovered as the hours unfold. Many of the dead are children. The Independence chart sheds a rather bleak light on the situation. The dominant astrological transit this year is a conjunction aspect between transiting Neptune and natal Saturn. Less than four weeks ago transiting Saturn was opposite natal Neptune. This symbolism of Saturn and Neptune is a very apt description of such a mesh of mass delusion, mind control, tragedy and death. Transiting Pluto is square natal Pluto all year, just to add more than a touch of the sinister to the crisis in consciousness that this nation must be experiencing right now. As the full extent of the 'goings on' is revealed to the world today we see right now transiting Mercury opposite natal Pluto, Mars square natal Saturn and Sun opposite natal Mercury. The progressed Moon at progressed last quarter is square natal Mercury. Paint it black.

There are 36 days to go to the massive stellium of planets in Taurus at the time of the New Moon on May 4th 2000. Already Mars Jupiter and Saturn are closing on each other in tight embrace in Taurus. The three planets can be seen in the evening skies right now. As the triple conjunction tightens so Mercury, Venus and the Sun move around to the same area of the sky from our geocentric view point. Such a collection of planets in one sign has not occurred since the early sixties when the gathering of the planets was in Aquarius. Many Astrologers have said that the time (1963) initiated the surge in global communication. (Such is the keynote of Aquarius). This time in Taurus the initiation is one related to earth resources and money. The emphasis is now and will be on market and production. At both personal and international levels the major area of concern will be on financial matters. One might tentatively suggest that the inflated Internet stocks may well burst at this time.

These massive collections of planets can be understood to set a cosmic note which extends and shapes the future for many years even decades to come. We will however be observing events closely over the next month or so as the stellium forms.

The week ahead is dominated by Mercury squaring Pluto on Thursday 30th March, and by Mars squaring Neptune on Friday 31st. The Moon, moving very slowly this week is at last quarter in Capricorn on Tuesday 28th March at 00.22 GMT. It looks to be a tough week especially around the time of the square aspects. Hold tight, there is a potential and a propensity for errors, over estimations and fanaticism.

March 26th 2000 The major news story over the last two days has been Bill Clinton's 'brief and quick' visit to Pakistan. The daze has already high lighted the Pakistani connection in the Spring Equinox chart last week.

Saturn in Taurus.

What more apt modern day representation of the above planet and sign combination could be witnessed than the wizened painfully slow praying Pope in Bethlehem today?

Kissing Palestinian soil, the Taurean Pope paused in mass as the wail of the Islamic call to prayer sounded out in the airs above the City of David.

The Moon is in Scorpio, opposing the triple conjunction now in sway of Mars, Jupiter and Saturn in the tropical zodiac sign of the Bull. Venus is square Pluto, intense times. A challenge is issued.

March 22nd 2000. 00.01 GMT

The Moon, right now in Libra will oppose Mars (in late Aries) at 10.26 GMT today. The Moon will then enter Scorpio at 11.18 GMT. With Venus applying square to Pluto and the Moon going on to oppose both Jupiter and Saturn we have on our hands an astrologically tough couple of days. During the two days Mars will enter Taurus adding a note of resolution and intransigence to the world situation at this time.

March 19th 2000 22.00 GMT. (click here for communist China chart)

The exact moment of full Moon is 04.45 March 20th. The Moon enters Libra two minutes later at 04.57.

The exact moment of Spring Equinox is 07.36. The Moon then applies a sextile aspect to its North Node which with the Sun and Neptune form a so called 'mystic rectangle' of planets. The rectangle forms, dominating the equinox chart, and quickly subsides during the following ten hours or so. We at The Daze will be alert to the news stories.

Heliocentricity a 'T-square' in fixed signs between Mercury, Mars /Saturn conjunction and Uranus is formed over the Equinox period.

This is a dynamic day in both Geocentric and Heliocentric time. We will be watching the world.

The Spring Equinox is at 07.36 GMT 20th March 2000. The Full Moon at the very end of Virgo precedes the equinox moment by less than three hours. The Sun Moon opposition is aligned to the MC/IC axis of Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan at the moment of Equinox. At the same time Saturn rises at London. Mars rises over Madrid and Gibraltar. Jupiter rises over Belfast. Sun rise is at Reyjavick, Mercury rises at Port Stanley, Neptune rises at Lima Peru. Uranus rises at Bridgetown Barbados and La Paz in Bolivia. Pluto rises at Calgary in Canada and over San Francisco. Mercury is conjunct the MC of Baghdad where also Pluto sets. Uranus culminates at Istanbul. Saturn rises over Tripoli in Libya as Neptune culminates.

March 18th. 20.00 GMT. The approaching Full Moon and Spring Equinox see the people of Taiwan celebrating an election victory and seeking independence from mainland China. China (click here for communist China chart) looks on with serious intent. Thousands on the streets of Taipei partying under the nearly full Moon. Full Moon madness in Uganda as the world's second biggest ever mass suicide takes place in a burning church today, in that country. The full Moon is the second since the total Lunar Eclipse of Jan 21st 2000.

March 17th 2000 22.00 GMT

As Mercury turned direct ( March 14th ) simultaneously forming a conjunction with Venus in early Pisces earlier this week so the news broke from the UK about the downfall of the last major automobile maker 'Rover' in the midland heart lands. Mercury in Pisces sees, here at least, the dissolution of a transport provider. Venus in Pisces, possesses the symbolic meaning of that principal in nature which releases, merges, sublimes, dissolves and slips through the fingers. Both planets remain there for three weeks.

The Moon is void in Leo tonight. At 00.49 March 18th the Moon enters Virgo and opposes both Mercury and Venus. There then follows the final crescendo of the Full Moon and Spring Equinox which occur as dawn breaks in Iceland on March 20th. Could be a tense but productive few days. Venus sextiles Jupiter tomorrow and the Moon forms a finger of fate 'Yod' pattern with the pair on the Equinox day at 18.00 GMT from Libra.

On Thursday 23rd March we may experience a day which is astrologically quite difficult. The Moon then in Scorpio opposes Mars, Jupiter and Saturn in succession and all day Venus squares Pluto. Sex and savagery? Watch that one.

March 15th 2000 22.00 GMT The Pakistan military government has tonight declared a ban on all outdoor gatherings, strikes and protests in the country. Saturn right now is square Pakistan Saturn, (independence chart) Jupiter square Neptune this week hits Pakistan Mercury. The Daze will keep a close watch on that country. Click here for the Pakistani chart.

March 13th 2000. 22.00 GMT. The Moon now in Cancer. Home truths. A United Nation's report issued today points out that half the world's population live with inadequate sanitation. Thousands of children die every week because of this.

Mars are Jupiter exactly heliocentricity conjunct in Taurus, both applying to a triple conjunction with Saturn. Helio Venus applies conjunct to Helio Neptune. Geocentrically Mercury and Venus approach their conjunction in Pisces quintile Saturn and sextile Jupiter. Jupiter squares Neptune. These aspects lead us over seven profound days to a Full Moon Spring Equinox. Full report on this later in the week.

Spanish general election today. Click here for SPANISH NATIONAL CHART.

Very fast moving Moon in Gemini approaching first quarter 7 am March 13th. Bad news of a coal mine collapsing in Eastern Ukraine reached us this morning. Several killed. Mercury turns direct 14th March 20.43. Holding plans back just a couple more days. Venus slips into Pisces tomorrow 13th March 11.27. On 15th March, first Pluto stations and turns retrograde at 12.20. Secondly, Mercury, then direct in motion, and Venus embrace in early Pisces 18.24. Venus is the faster planet right now, she has the upper hand, her heart rules her head, and she is in pursuit of Mars. It will take her until the summer solstice to overtake him. Mercury gives notice of a chase to both, by April's end he overtakes Venus. All this week Jupiter is exactly square Neptune. Madagascar has recently experiences a season of cyclones. The aged and frail looking Pope confesses the sins of the Catholic Church over a thousand years. 'A thousand dreams watching each other narrowly.' J.Morrison

March 11th 2000 22.00 GMT. Tony Blair is talking with Vladmir Putin in Moscow. The first leader in the west to do so. Check out the relationship chart of these two Click here. Strangely their composite Sun is at 23 degrees Pisces and the Sun is at that degree today. The Daze was spot on with this Russian feature. Yesterdays comment was printed before the release of the news of Tony Blair's visit. Vladamir spent 16 years in the KGB. His rulership so far has been to preside a time of reported barbaric onslaughts on Grozny. Stranger still as they talk Mars at 22 degrees Aries opposes Tony's Neptune Saturn conjunction in Libra and also opposes Vladamir's natal Neptune and Mercury at exactly the same degree area. Admittedly we require confirmation of Putin's birth data but this man requires further consideration. The image of a dark horse comes to mind. The Astrology right now is critical.

Friday March 10th 2000. Have you seen Vladimir Putin's chart? He will be the new Russian President. The birth data requires confirmation but if you fancy a look at the astrological chart of this Sun Libran Moon Taurus man click here.

The Moon is in Taurus tonight, crescent, waxing and accelerating. Mercury (conjunct the UK's Pluto) still retrograde, Venus in very late Aquarius. Mars at 21 degrees Aries is exactly opposite Vladimir Putin's Neptune and makes a similar opposition to his natal Mercury in two days time. Lets see if there is any out of the ordinary news from Russia as a consequence of the transit. Its all part of the process of learning about personalities on the world stage.

Heliocentricity right now Mars is conjunct Jupiter and Saturn in Taurus. This triplet making at this time a fine earthy trine with Venus and the Earth at the other two points of the triangle. A great good triangle of spirit. The triplet will tighten as the triangle dissolves.

Geocentrically Saturn is tightly quinqux Pluto, The Moon enters Gemini on Saturday 11th March 15.36. If your are looking for changes, they may start then.

March 7th 21.00 GMT. It is 'Super Tuesday' in the American presidential elections.

Click here to see and read about Al Gore's chart.

Click here to see George W. Bush's chart.

Transits today for George show the Sun square his Uranus, quinqux his Jupiter, (a trifle unsettling) Venus sextile his MC almost exact, (a flush of embarrassment?) Mars trine Uranus, (a rush of something). Uranus is in the same position as it will be at the time of the November Election trine his Jupiter.

For Albert Gore Uranus opposes Mars both now and in November. Today Mars trines his Mars, Sun conjuncts his Mercury. Venus weakly applies to his Venus. The Moon today is in Aries. Gore is Aries.

There is enough positive indications to see these two as the main contenders. At the time of the election if we go with Uranus, Bush will win, if we go with Pluto (trine Gore's Sun in November) the job is Gore's.

We at the Daze consider it wise to stay alert to the astrological transits and progressions of our political leaders. Stay tuned.

March 6th 2000 23.00 GMT The New Moon this morning has coincided with an announcement by Israel that the country will withdraw all its forces from Lebanon by July 2000. The lunation is exactly inconjunct Israel's Saturn. Today has also been the day that a new breed of colour video phone with Internet linkage has been unveiled in the UK. It (the New Moon) has also occurred as Ken Livingstone a British politician who will be formally suspended from labour party membership, is seeking the post of Mayor of London as an independent candidate. This is the most serious ever challenge to 'New Labour'. The pressure is now (March 2000) on Tony Blair who is also fighting a legal battle with the publication of a former nanny's diary of her employment under the Blair household. Mars in Aries was conjunct Tony's natal Venus on 2nd March, square Uranus on the 3rd. Venus is opposite his natal Pluto tonight. Mars will oppose his Saturn and Neptune on 12th March, conjunct Mercury on the 18th, and all month Saturn moves to conjunct his natal Sun on 30th. So much for the short term, check out Tony Blair's year click here.

March 4th 2000.20.00 GMT. At last the United Kingdom Government starts to act to help Mozambique in response to the mass conscience of its citizens. Fund raising activities and appeals are underway, military hardware on the way. There are problems with Malaria and TB. After a shockingly long time of waiting and arguing the WAVE HAS BEGUN. The Moon is in Aquarius.

Last night as frivolous and shocking Venus Moon and Uranus embraced tightly in mid Aquarius, the Brits awards in London were in full swing. The spicy antics. Very Venus /Uranus, and Ronnie Lane was assaulted. Meanwhile in Mozambique we read of the 'tears of the 4000 orphans' The Times 4/3/2000. The triple conjunction rose over Afghanistan as the tightest period of the conjunction was reached. Nothing yet has reached us from there.

There is a new Moon is Pisces at 05.17 AM GMT Monday 6th March 2000. Neptune rises at London. The New Moon Chart shows the Moon and Sun are square Pluto and Sextile Saturn (both separating aspects). Mars (rising over Mozambique) is applying sextile to Uranus. Mercury still retrograde till March is sextile Jupiter. Jupiter applies square to Neptune, Saturn applies square to Uranus. There is a definite application of deliberate energy in this chart. Amid an underlying uneasiness and a mesh of glamour and confusion there is a dash of altruism. In the UK something is up. Events may reveal themselves quickly. This is the first new Moon since the Solar Eclipse (Feb. 5th).

March 1st 2000 22.00 The situation in Mozambique continues to dominate the news and once again tragic human misery on the TV screen serves to demonstrate the obvious global need for a rapid deployment force capable and resourced to deal with natural emergencies and disasters such as this one. The astrological chart for Mozambique has Uranus exactly opposite natal Venus right now. Progressed moon semi square Uranus. Last months solar eclipse opposite Venus.

The Moon is balsamic from 07.19 tomorrow, and enters Aquarius at 13-15 GMT. The Sun then sextiles Saturn and squares Pluto. The Moon passes south of Neptune at midnight. The very close triple conjunction of the Moon, Venus and Uranus then builds up all day Friday and reaches exactitude in the early hours of Saturday 4th March 2000. Mercury, still retrograde, is now a morning star after inferior conjunction seven hours ago. There have been serious communication problem with British Telecoms communication 'gateways' during the past three days. Several telephone links have been broken. This sort of event is typical of mercury retrograde periods. Mercury turns direct on March 14th 2000. In Chicago America yesterday a six year old girl is shot dead in school by a classmate. A strange twist to the fortunes of the gun laws in America and the election strategy of George W Bush. Al Gore looks in our opinion to be the favourite astrologically to win check out his chart.

Three planetary aspects form in the next twenty four hours. Venus square Saturn, Mars trine Pluto, Retrograde Mercury is square Pluto. Venus passes the midpoint of the Mars Pluto trine, The Moon is slow, waning and void. This is astrologically a tense time. The next seven days up to the New Moon have a high incidence of planetary alignments. Significant global events can be expected.

The events experiences and changes in store for the world over the LEAP YEAR DAYS are likely to be profound. The period first witnesses Venus making three aspects on Feb. 27th, 28th. The Moon enters Capricorn at 00.45 on 29th Feb. 2000. Mars trines Pluto the same day. Mercury is in inferior conjunction 15.11 on March 1st. The Moon, then in Aquarius aligns very exactly to Venus and Uranus between 00.39 and 01.13 on March 4th, a mighty whirl of energy that one! The New Moon in Pisces is on March 6th at 05.18. The DAZE will guide you through this amazing seven days. Stay tuned.

Feb 26th 20.00 GMT

Last quarter moon in Sagittarius. Tales and footage of possible Russian atrocities in Checnya. The Pope is in the Middle East. Riots in New York over the white police shooting of an unarmed coloured man. Another house fire in the UK kills three. Has anyone noticed this spate of horrific fires over the last three days in the UK? Mars in Aries in fiery trine to Pluto in Sagittarius( exact Tuesday 29th leap year's day) induces high combustion, high octane events, Venus square Saturn, applies, lends tragedy a hand. Saturn quinqux Pluto, a rising tide of ruthless power wielding. Mercury retrogrades in Pisces, submission and dissolution. These are the times right now, this is the daze.

Feb. 25th 0001 GMT.

The Moon is in Scorpio, void of course from 12.18 today. There is a stillness before the storm, yesterday images of house fires and their uncertain mysterious origins filled the UK TV screens.

A very interesting planetary picture moves into focus over the next ten days. The Moon moves into Sagittarius 12.10 on the 26th. This heralds a remarkable series of aspects involving four planets Venus, Mars, Saturn, Pluto and the Sun at thirteen degrees into their respective zodiac signs. The events experiences and changes in store for the world over the LEAP YEAR DAYS are likely to be profound.

Feb 23rd 2000. 20.00 GMT.

The major news today is that of the critical weather conditions in MOZAMBIQUE.

Click here for that country's natal chart. Typhoon Aileen has devastated the country already suffering from the worst floods in fifty years. More tropical storms are sweeping in from the Indian Ocean. The Mozambique government today issued a plea for international help. The tightest Astrological transit is Uranus only eleven minutes of arc from opposing the country's natal Venus right now. Mars has in the past week hit the natal ascendant which is on one arm of the Cardinal Cross of planets which dominates the chart.

The Moon has been spending half its time in a void of course situation during the last week, and will continue to do for several days yet, on roughly alternate days. All the planets are positioned in the first half of the signs right now. With Mercury retrograde (semi-square Jupiter tonight) the present time can be viewed as circumspect and slow to progress. The Moon enters Scorpio tomorrow morning and for twenty four hours makes aspects to all the planets. On Friday she is void again as she was today.

FEB. 22nd 16.00 GMT.

The disseminating decelerating Moon is in Libra. Venus in early Aquarius passed half a degree south of Neptune today. Mercury is now retrograde in its motion in mid Pisces. Twenty seven days to the Spring Equinox. Mars storming through Aries. Floods and Hurricane warnings in Mozambique.

In the UK chart (1801), Saturn is conjunct natal Mars, Jupiter now in Taurus squares its natal UK. position, the current Northern Ireland situation is one of a number of UK. issues which have an austere twist to them, a dash of cold sentiment to proceedings. Pluto was on the MC of Belfast at the last eclipse. Here at the Daze, we do not hold high expectations with decisions and policy statements made during the next couple of weeks with Mercury appearing to loop round backwards between the Sun and Earth. We are looking forward to the great Stellium of planets in tropical Taurus at the start of May 2000, including the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn . Also our attention is being drawn to the three eclipses in July 2000, and the one on Christmas Day 2000. We are examining all these charts and will upload them soon. Stay tuned.

FEB. 15th 23.00 GMT

The Moon is in Cancer. The main news in the UK tonight concerns the IRA who have today withdrawn from talks on decommissioning. The whirlpool of past uncertainty opens up in Northern Ireland.

Feb. 14th 2000 20.00 GMT.

The ingress of Jupiter into Taurus occurs tonight Feb. 14th 2000 at 21-41 GMT. Jupiter is re-entering Taurus after being in the sign during the summer and early autumn of 1999. Jupiter's stay in Taurus is brief. The planet moves on into Gemini on June 20th 2000 in which sign it stays till the Summer of 2001. Jupiter was last in Taurus in 1988-1989, the time of the 'big boom', in the UK. house market. Jupiter in Taurus symbolises expansion of wealth and accumulations.

During this brief rush through Taurus Jupiter will square Neptune on March 16th, square Uranus on May 13th and finally conjunct Saturn on May 28th. We at the Daze will watch the periods (and the money markets) around these days closely. The first two dates mentioned indicate unsettling events, the May 28th day hints at something a little more secure.

The Ingress chart shows Jupiter quintile Uranus, and Sun quintile Pluto, a waxing moon in Gemini is applying trine to the Sun, Mars is sextile Neptune and semi-square Uranus. Mercury is square Pluto (and by a strange geometry Mercury is exactly opposite Pluto from the heliocentric perspective). This passage of Jupiter through Taurus may give rise to a suddenly shifting emphasis on both inflationary pressures in the money markets and some kind of crisis in the area of food and earth resources. The central message is a rush of subtle yet profound changes on many levels during a very short period of time, starting in two hours time!

Feb. 11th 2000 12.00 Noon GMT.

Mars entered Aries at 01.05 this morning and will remain in this sign until 23rd March. Expect very rapid developments, actions and outbursts during this period. Already the situation in Northern Ireland has erupted into the unprecedented situation of the suspension of the peace process awaiting a resolution of the decommissioning of arms. The situation is changing by the hour, totally in keeping with this Mars into Aries Ingress.

While in Aries Mars will sextile Neptune on 18th Feb. opportunity for some pretty slick activity that day, however the pair form the 'Yod' (finger of fate) aspect with the Virgo Moon in the early hours of 20th Feb., the morning after the next full moon. I expect that to be a 'testy' time. Mars goes on to be sextiled by Venus on 27th Feb. a brief moment of potential harmony, and trine to Pluto on the leap year day 29th Feb. most positive note being sounded, tremendous energy for action, finally sextiling Uranus on the 7th March, allowing a flash of further inspired activity. The personal advice during this Mars in Aries sojourn is of course 'Look before you leap.'

Feb. 6th 2000. 14.00 GMT. Mercury is now in Pisces where he will remain until mid April, turning retrograde in two weeks time. We can expect this period to be a time of mass suggestibility. Peoples minds following strong leads. Venus is mid way through Capricorn, another two weeks in this sign (practical affections, head rules heart), chasing Mars who has another week in Pisces( meandering non direct actions). It will be a long chase, she will finally overtake him on the Summer Solstice day June 21st 2000 in the sign Cancer. Astrologically a quieter week ahead. No doubt the effects of yesterdays eclipse conjunct Uranus will unfold as the days and weeks ensue. There are 43 days to the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. The very new Moon enters Pisces 16.03 GMT today, contributing to the subtle change leading us to this astrologically gentler period. There are three months to go to the next great astrological event, namely the great stellium of planets in Taurus. The New Moon on the 4th May 2000 is the centre point of this event.

There was a partial Solar Eclipse on Feb. 5th 2000.

Click here for the chart The eclipsed Sun in Aquarius was closely conjunct Uranus and sextile Pluto. At the time of maximum eclipse the Sun and Moon and Uranus was conjunct the MC of Lisbon and the MC of Samoa Island. In Paraguay and in Santiago the three were due East. In Detroit, Cincinnati and Nashville the three were exactly rising. On the other side of the world on the Indian sub continent, particularly Colombo (Sri Lanka) and Bangalore the three were setting. Mars rises at Port of Spain Trinidad, Pluto conjuncts the MC of New York and rises over Honolulu. In Istanbul Mars conjuncts the MC and Pluto is due west. Saturn rises over the Ascension Islands. The eclipse was visible from Antarctica. The last eclipses in this SAROS cycle were on Jan 25th 1982, the ones before that were in 1964 (Jan 14th), 1946 (Jan. 3rd), 1927 (Dec. 24th) and 1909 (DEC 12th). The next ones in the series will be on Feb. 15th 2018, and Feb. 27th 2036. This saros cycle of eclipses is in its waxing phase, unlike the total lunar eclipse of Jan 21st 2000, which belonged to a saros cycle which has passed its peak and is now waning.

Click here for link to Eclipses and the Saros.

Feb. 4th 2000. 22.00 GMT.

Since the conjunction of Mercury and Uranus in Aquarius last Friday on the UK natal Venus, Northern Ireland has not been out of the news. The peace process in on the brink of collapse. Direct rule may be reintroduced. The other main news in Europe is that of the events in Austria.

READ ON BELOW ABOUT THE ASTROLOGICAL BUILD UP TO SATURDAY'S SOLAR ECLIPSE.

Jan 30th 2000 to FEB. 5th 2000.

The Sun will be in waning square to Saturn Monday 31st at 05.16. The Sagittarian Moon will be conjunct Pluto five minutes later. This combination sets an intensely sober start to the week. (The truth did out in the UK! )

The Moon enters its balsamic pre eclipse phase at 10.50 on Tues.1st Feb., joins Venus in Capricorn six hours later, both trining Saturn at 13.08 on Wednesday (2nd Feb.). This may well cement beneficial financial affairs globally. Mercury in the last few days of its stay in Aquarius is sextile Jupiter 09.33 on Friday 4th Feb., this sets a hint of an optimistic scene to next Saturdays Eclipse. All week of course the Sun approaches its Eclipse conjunction with Uranus. One other point, the Moon aligns very closely to Neptune on Friday 4th Feb. at 14.23.

Jan 28th 2000 22.00 GMT. The Mercury Uranus conjunction today coincided with a raising of the temperature in the Northern Ireland Peace Process. The issue of decommissioning of weapons on both sides was the subject in focus. The Euro currency took a hammering in the currency exchange markets. Tony Blair was urging economic progression in Europe and was speaking of the 'M revolution' (use of mobile phones as access to the Internet being pioneered in Europe. Urges from the United Nations to the Kremlin to halt the war around Grozny have had no positive response. A Russian general killed in battle was buried today. President Putin spoke of revenge at the Graveyard. The Moon is in unforgiving Scorpio. In Cheltenam England a man with a sword murdered a councillor at the Liberal Democrat Headquarters in the town. The town's member of parliament was also attacked. This was a most sup rising and unexpected event. Tomorrow this Moon is largely void of course making no major aspect until it enters Sagittarius at 04.18 GMT on Sunday 30th Jan. There are now seven days to a partial eclipse of the Sun.

Jan 27th 2000 22.00 GMT. While the moon sailed through Libra during the last three days there has been a great deal of news items in the UK regarding the Law and Homosexuality. One Brigadier has resigned from the army in protest over the recently legislated right to be homosexual in the British Forces. Much discussion is underway about the promotion of homosexual lifestyles in schools and further more there has been the news story of the consent by the legal authorities of a gay couple bringing into the country a surrogate child. The Libran Moon has been making positive trine aspects to the four planets in Aquarius during this time. This seems totally in keeping with tolerance within the law. The Moon now in Scorpio has a rougher ride squaring those planets over the next two days and coupled with the Mercury Uranus conjunction in twelve hours time this could be an indication of a measure of agitation within the global community.

JAN. 26th 2000 22.00 GMT. The planet Mercury on the far side of the Sun is rapidly approaching a conjunction with Uranus in tropical Aquarius. The alignment is exact on Friday 28th Jan. at 09.55 GMT, two hours after a last quarter moon. The Moon enters Scorpio tomorrow at 17.02. The astrological 'weather' over the next two days will be dominated by this planetary conjunction. Expect something mildly shocking and unexpected. Events will take a sup rising and unusual twist. Helio-centrically (viewing the solar system from the Sun) the planet Venus is approaching opposition to Saturn which is in tight square to Uranus in fixed signs.

Jan 24th 2000 18.40 GMT. Further investigations into the connection between last Friday's Total Lunar Eclipse and a terrorist car bomb in Madrid has revealed that at the moment of central eclipse the Moon was exactly due West at Madrid and the Sun was due East. This 'coincidence' taken together with the Mercury conjunct South Node connection mentioned in yesterdays comment has alerted us here at the daze to check for similar planetary pictures in future eclipses. The big business news today is that of the merger (take-over) of EMI and Time-Warner AOL corporation. The implications for the future of commercial music industry are profound. This deal has been clinched as Neptune is conjunct the Sun in Aquarius. Paul McCartney has released 'A garland for Linda.' As I write Venus is shortly to enter Capricorn. Mercury is square Saturn. The voters of Iowa begin the business of voting in a new American president. The first primary starts tonight. The Daze is checking out astrological transits next November to the American presidential hopefuls' natal charts, and a first glance seems to indicate Albert Gore as the one with the most impressive planetary transits, stay tuned for more on that one.

Jan 23rd 2000 13.00 GMT

The Sun is now at three degrees Aquarius. The Sun will conjunct Neptune at 18.08 GMT tomorrow. The Moon is in Virgo and a total of four planets are in Aquarius, giving a very Fixed Airy feel to events right now. Mercury is applying square to Saturn and sextile Neptune.

The first event after the total lunar eclipse to hit the headlines here was that of a terrorist car bomb going off in Madrid. The Spanish chart which undergoes its Mars return right now, has Mercury conjunct the South Lunar Node at one degree Aquarius exactly opposite Friday's eclipse point. At the time of the eclipse Mercury was conjunct the South Lunar Node. This kind of sympathetic resonance seems to be a very important property of Astrological timing. If an aspect occurs in the skies which involves planets that were in aspect in a natal chart the probability of a significant event occurring is increased. Eclipses themselves seem to at the very least 'perk things up'. Over the next few days The Daze will look ahead to the Partial Eclipse on Feb. 5th in Aquarius.

Jan 18th 2000 22.00 GMT. Mercury is shortly to enter Aquarius. The Moon will enter Cancer tomorrow. Mars is square Pluto semi-square Jupiter, The Sun is semi-square Pluto. Mercury and Neptune are conjunct Helio-Centrically, Jupiter and Uranus are quintile. Saturn and Pluto are inconjunct, the Moon will make a finger of fate with these two planets in thirty hours time, and then go on to be totally eclipsed by the Earth's shadow twenty five hours later. At that point in time the Moon, Earth, The Sun, Mercury and Neptune will be aligned to the very start of the Leo/Aquarius tropical signs. The next two days will be heavy going for the world, emotions will be at a peak, the airs heavy with all manner of energies. This is a special time in all our lives.

Stay tuned to the daze.

The total lunar eclipse on 21st Jan 2000 is conjunct the Midheaven of Santiago Chile, where at the moment of maximum eclipse (4.44 GMT) Saturn is setting. At that same magical moment Uranus rises in Kuwait and Teheran, Pluto rises over Northern Ireland, Mars conjuncts the Midheaven of Brisbane. In Peking, Canton and Hong Kong, the Eclipsed Moon is conjunct the I.C. and the Sun, Mercury and Neptune are aligned to the Mid Heaven, Saturn is rising over these Cities. Venus culminates over Pakistan where Jupiter trines the Mid-Heaven, a hopeful sign? Mars exactly rises at Kabul. The Eclipsed Moon is setting over Syria, where the Sun Mercury Neptune alignment is rising. Jerusalem and Beirut also experiences the same phenomenon, a new dawn? Venus rises at Milan, Torino and Nice. The Eclipsed Moon rises at Hawaii.

Indonesia is not the place for a happy holiday at the moment. Described by BBC reporters as potentially the 'Yugoslavia of Asia ' we get the impression that the security of law and order there is in a most precarious state.

The chart of Indonesia is most interesting. It has a tight Cardinal Cross, with Sun opposite Uranus, square to a first quarter Moon opposition Mars, a very dynamic and challenging planetary picture, with a strong emphasis on an octagonal structure. The chart undergoes a progressed New Moon next year, in Aquarius, it may be that what we are witnessing now are the painful dying embers of the old cycle. There is an exact semi-square between Pluto and Uranus (no orb at all) in the chart, which at this present time is invoked because transiting Uranus is in opposition to natal Pluto. The Solar eclipse in Feb. 2000 is conjunct natal Venus opposite natal Pluto. This chart is worth a look at.

Jan 16th 2000 21.00 GMT.

Tony Blair went on British breakfast television today to apologise for the crisis in the national health service in the UK. If you are interested in what astrological trends are in store for Tony Blair the British Prime Minister during the year 2000 then click here.

In the UK chart (1801) Saturn is conjunct natal Mars and Uranus is conjunct Venus. Mike Tyson has arrived in the country amid a swirl of protest from women's groups. There have been two accidents involving fishing trawlers in the last week, seven young sailors were drowned five days ago off the Isle of Man and two days ago a trawler caught fire in the seas around Cornwall. Two are being treated for Burns. Mars is now in Pisces of course, and Pisces is traditionally associated with the sea and fishermen.

Tomorrow the waxing, accelerating Moon goes into Gemini at 03.25 GMT, Mars is Sextile Saturn and Square Pluto, Mercury is semi square Pluto. The Sun is square Jupiter. A lot going on astrologically, expect a multitude of things going one at many levels, expect restless multiplicity.

.

Jan 15th 2000 21.00 GMT:-As stated in yesterdays comment, today has witnessed some hard hitting events. The Taurean Moon and the slow build up of a hard Mars Pluto square has made manifest a potential for brutality. USA warnings have been issued to the Indonesian military not to force a coup, great dramas are reported in that country. An earthquake in China occurred over night. The heaviest yet Russian bombardment on Gronzy is confirmed by both sides, many innocent deaths reported there. News of an assassination in Belgrade is coming in as I write these words, and a car rammed the security gates at the top of Downing Street in London at 12.30 GMT this afternoon. This is just to mention a few news items. This vibe will continue tomorrow. Mercury will conjunct the Sun at 01.19 tomorrow GMT, both will square Jupiter. This is a tough one and we are deeply into an eclipse season, these times are important. We would love to hear from you if you enjoy reading these lines.

Jan 14th 2000 22.00 GMT. The first quarter Moon will enter Taurus at 00.39 GMT tomorrow, and conjunct Saturn at 18.24. Tomorrow and Sunday are 'ground in' days when events and experiences have a certain robust and unmovable quality. Expect intractable situations with the feeling that something big and possibly bad is building up. Judgments will be a little off the mark over the next two days, better to focus on what you can have and hold. The Sun and Mercury are squaring Jupiter, Mars is applying to a square to Pluto, and is sextile Saturn. Big jobs which require a lot of 'spade work' could be well suited to this astrological weather but do not push too hard.

Jan 12th 2000 22.00 GMT. The Moon is now in Aries. She is rather well aspected over the next two days, will be at first quarter 13.34 GMT on 14th Jan, and conjunct Jupiter four hours later. Venus is sextile Uranus, Mercury is approaching superior conjunction (16th Jan) with the Sun square Jupiter (17th Jan). Mars ominously creeps up to a hard square with Pluto (19th Jan.), two days before the eclipse. Uranus is exactly conjunct the UK's Venus (1801 chart). News from Ankara Turkey tonight tells of a delay in the decision by the Turkish Parliament on the execution of a Kurdish prisioner. (The ongoing Pluto Uranus sextile in the skies right now is forming a finger of fate with Pluto in the Turkish chart, and tonight Mars trines the Turkish Ascendant. Sad news in the UK as seven Scottish fisherman have been drowned last night in the Irish Sea. The moon was void as the search for survivors went on during the night. The Moon was very badly squared by Venus and Pluto yesterday morning. Mars currently in Pisces is not so good for fishermen perhaps.

Jan 10th 2000 22.30 GMT. The Venus Pluto conjunction has coincided with the announcement of 'the biggest business merger in all history', that of Time-Warner and America-On-Line, traditional entertainment and a new Internet Corporation. We at the Daze reckon the Venus-Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius symbolism is a pretty appropriate description of this one. Eighty thousand employees are involved and 318 billion dollars. The Russians are receiving a lot of grief around Grozny, and the War is having its effects on the new President Putin. In the UK we are witnessing the start of the first dialogue between UK and Iran in twenty years. Flu is gripping the UK, Holland, Spain and Israel. There are riots in Tel-Aviv (as Moon conjuncts Mars) about the possible consequences of the Israeli Syrian talks in America. Tomorrow sees the crescent moon in Pisces squaring the Venus, Pluto, Chiron, Vesta conjunction in Sagittarius. Not an easy day up to Noon GMT, after that the moon makes easier aspects to Mercury and the Sun. Saturn is almost stationary. Venus is moving up to sextile Uranus. The total lunar eclipse is now 11 days away. Events are building up, stay tuned to the Daze.

Jan 9th 2000 22.00 GMT

Venus and Pluto are conjunct by celestial longitude right now spot on the Ascendant of the USA chart (Sibly independence chart). The American media seem intensely engrossed with a young Cuban boy. This tragic little lad seems to symbolize the whole of the Cuban-American relationship of the past forty years. The Cuban communist regime chart has its Uranus demi return this month as Uranus opposes its natal position, and Mars is opposite natal Pluto today. We can expect major crises in Cuba in the not to distant future. In the UK we have the worst flu epidemic in ten years. A near stationary Saturn is trine the UK's natal Sun and Uranus is conjunct natal Venus (1801 chart). Tomorrow sees the crescent moon entering Pisces (10.00 am GMT) and applying to a conjunction (two degrees south) with Mars twenty four hours from now. News is coming in fast tonight of Russian air raids on Grozny and Norwegian confirmation of a train driver passing a red light causing last weeks train crash. An intense bunch of headlines all in keeping with Venus conjunct Pluto.

Jan 8th 2000 22.00 GMT

The recent new moon saw global share prices rally after a shaky few days. It also coincided with strange news from Northern India regarding the fourteen year old Tibetan Lama, The Karmapa Lama, who has defected from Lahsa and strongly annoyed the Chinese authorities. We can only imagine the 600 mile journey through the mountains in the snow and the subsequent meeting with theDalai Lama. Apparently (according to The Times today) he left on Dec. 31st 1999. Astrologically that was a very special day too, see the Daze below.

The Daze is checking out astrological transits next November to the American presidential hopefuls' natal charts, and a first glance seems to indicate Albert Gore as the one with the most impressive planetary transits, stay tuned for more on that one. Tomorrow is an interesting day astrologically, with Venus conjunct Pluto (and Vesta and Chiron) in Sagittarius, (quite a party!) sextile the Moon and Uranus in Aquarius and fatefully quinqux Saturn in Taurus. We can expect further strange events in the next twenty four hours.

Jan 7th 2000 22.00 GMT

The new moon enters Aquarius in fifty four minutes time, conjuncts Neptune at 05.46 tomorrow, and conjuncts Uranus twenty four hours later. Venus is nearly conjunct Pluto in Sagittarius. President Clinton is trying to break the impasse in the Syrian Israeli talks in Washington, the Russians have paused in their bombing of Grozny. We are now truly in the eclipse season. The next full moon is a total lunar eclipse in Leo, the next new moon is a partial solar eclipse in Aquarius, visible from Antarctica. This means we are in a time of when current events will come to 'a head' and new situations will manifest. Stay tuned to the daze to see how current events in the news can be related to the present planetary situation.

We now hear that the train crash in Norway yesterday cost over 30 lives, the worst in Norway's history. We do not have an exact time for the accident and would request that anyone reading this commentary with such information contact the Daze via E-mail. Our initial research suggests an astrological link to the Winter Solstice 1999 moment, see yesterdays comment.

Yesterday world stock market prices fell by significant amounts.

Tomorrow is the day of the new moon, in Capricorn (18.15 GMT) conjunct Mercury (05.14 GMT) trine Saturn in Taurus. The next aspect building up right now is a conjunction of Venus and Pluto, in Sagittarius, exact on 9th Jan. 2000. Tomorrow has the quality of great sober and realistic thinking.

Bookmark this page, stay tuned to the Daze.

Jan 4th 2000 20.00 GMT Mars now in Pisces, we witness a Norwegian train trash 80 miles North of Oslo with seven dead. The head on collision was described as 'a bolt of lightening out of a clear blue sky', (BBC news). We at the daze observe that the impending total Lunar Eclipse on 21st Jan. 2000 forms a finger of fate with the very exact Saturn Uranus sextile in the Norway independence chart. Friday's new moon is within 14 minutes of Arc of a quinqux aspect (150 degrees) from the Norwegian Sun. However most significant is the fact that at the moment of Winter Solstice Dec.. 22nd 1999 Saturn was at lower culmination for Oslo. See astro-cartography map of Winter Solstice. Mars today was applying to a conjunction with the Norwegian Saturn.

Tomorrow is the last day before a very positive, practical and constructive new moon. Not a great deal on astrologically, the moon enters Capricorn at 10.25 GMT and begins to apply to conjunct with both Mercury and the Sun in that sign. Make the most of the practical thinking, plan well for the future.

E-mail us here at the daze.

Jan 3rd 2000 22.00 GMT.

The fiery moon in Sagittarius is conjunct Venus and Pluto. We witness a fiery onslaught by the Russians on Grozny. Israel and Syria begin peace talks in Washington.

Mars enters Pisces tomorrow 03.02.GMT. and resides in that sign for a brief five weeks. Emotional impulses to the collective animus. Actions now initiated by feelings. The moon tomorrow is at apogee (furthest from Earth), two days from new. An old moon day, a deep sense and vision of what lies ahead.

Jan 2nd 2000 22.00 GMT.

The balsamic moon has just entered Sagittarius, during the next twenty four hours it will conjunct both Venus and Pluto in that sign. Venus and Pluto are conjunct on the 9th January. Mercury is applying trine aspect to Saturn. The new moon is on 6th Jan. Very practical thinking behind a brief wave of inspiration. Watch out for an interesting cosmic ripple tomorrow. The Daze is watching the world headlines closely, all seems quiet on the UK news tonight. E-mail us and let us know you are there.

Why not let us get to work on your astrological chart?

Jan 1st 2000. 00.01.

Happy new year! The year 2000 has six eclipses, one on Christmas day, a stellium of planets in Taurus in May, and a single conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at the time of the stellium. The conjunction is exact on May 28th. The last time these two gas giants met in the skies was in the spring of 1981, they were then in Libra. They meet again in 2020 at the start of Aquarius. Note the current emphasis on air signs for these conjunctions.

The hijack was quickly and diplomatically over once the planetary ingresses had occurred yesterday morning. At the same time Boris Yeltsin tendered his resignation. George Harrison lay recovering in hospital after a knife attack.

There has been something of a planetary event as the world celebrates the millennium, the feeling is deep and positive, that Sun Saturn trine aspect in the skies right now (exact 12.38 today) has helped.

Mars has three days left in Aquarius then swims into Pisces, watch out Wed Jan 19th 2000 when it squares Pluto, a surge of something sinister and underhand (or undersea). There is a new moon on Jan 6th, more to say on that later. The balsamic (old) moon stays in Scorpio for two more days. Slow and old for a new year! Thanks for visiting The Daze. Happy new age!

Dec.. 30th 1999 23.00 GMT.

Check out how the planetary aspects this week relate to the Horoscope of France. Severe storms have affected millions of homes. Click here.

The past last quarter moon right now applying easy opposition to Jupiter trine Mars. Three weeks now to a total lunar eclipse. Things are about to change gear tomorrow, as the dawn of the new century approaches. A planetary modulation occurs at the start of Friday 31st DEC, a change of the cosmic pitch, when at 04.54 GMT Venus enters Sagittarius and two hours later Mercury, sensing Venus's approach leaves Sagittarius and enters Capricorn. (The two planets are conjunct in March 2000). The moon changes to Scorpio at 09.37. It all adds up to a new year's eve of practical readiness (Sun trine Saturn), constructional pragmatic thoughts (Mercury in Capricorn), a flash of the collective anima (Venus in Sagittarius applying sextile to Neptune also applying conjunct Pluto) against a general background of deep personal and collective intensity, and a fair measure of sex 'n savagery, and possible hidden subversive acts, (Moon in Scorpio), quite a New Years Eve! The Hijack continues into its seventh day. Afghan troops surround the plane.

Saturn and Pluto are quinqux (150 degrees apart when viewed from the Earth), during the period Dec.. 1999 to the start of March 2000, during that period the moon passes through the critical zodiac position (12 degrees Libra) on Dec.. 2nd, Dec. 29th, Jan 26th, and Feb. 22nd. A finger of fate is formed at each of those times.

Let THE DAZE lead you through the dawn of the new century.

Dec. 28th 1999 22.00 GMT.

Dec.. 27th 1999 18.00 GMT

The hijack continues but at this time there are some indications in the news of a negotiated conclusion. Mars Jupiter and Mercury are involved in a powerful planetary pattern right now suggesting to me a note of cosmic creativity. But watch out world there is a FINGER of FATE in the skies tomorrow DEC 28th 15.00 GMT as the Virgo moon bisects the Mars Jupiter sextile. A time of important developments.

Dec.. 26th 1999 23.00 GMT.

Tense news around the world tonight. The hijacking still unresolved in southern Afghanistan, Grozny under barbaric Russian offensive. Fierce storms in northern Europe. The moon now in Virgo, the opinion here at

the daze is still that in the next twenty four hours a positive planetary picture will aid the speedy resolution of current tensions. (Got that wrong...things seemed to draw out and intensify).

Christmas Day Dec.. 25th 1999. 7.00 PM GMT.

Moon in mid Leo opposing Mars and Uranus. A time of drama and tension, the Indian Airline Hijack now revealed as connected to the Kashmir crisis, Russian Generals ready for 'the final assault' on Grozny.

The next two days see Mercury Mars and Jupiter involved in a positive planetary pattern which with the moon in practical Virgo, from this time tomorrow, suggests a common sense resolution to the current tensions. At worst we will see efficient and meticulous interventions.

STAY TUNED TO THE DAZE.

LET US KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

Dec.. 24th 1999

Happy Christmas world. A Christmas Eve hijack is underway as I write this, the Moon has entered Leo, a note of uncompromising stances is sounded, the tightest planetary aspect right now is Venus Square Mars and the moon opposes Neptune, a confusing picture emerges as the aircraft soars westward towards the middle east.

The Eclipse season is upon us. Events are now building up to the total lunar eclipse of January 21st 2000 at 4.44 GMT. This is followed by a partial solar eclipse two weeks later. The lunar eclipse occurs at a time when the moon, earth, Sun, Mercury are aligned to Neptune in Aquarius.
