Aromatherapy is basically the use of certain aromas - or smells - for therapeutic benefits.
Although aromatherapy can involve the use of aromas in baths, in sprays and scents and so on, the main clinical or therapeutic use of Aromatherapy is in the massaging of certain essential oils into the body.
Aromatherapy is therefore combined with massage in most cases, with the therapist choosing and blending a number of oils that have beneficial effects for each individual.
Aromatherapy is often used in our Clinic in combination with other therapies, including nutritional supplements, herbal or homoeopathic medicines, and so on.
A course of Aromatherapy will usually last 10 - 12 weeks, with each weekly session lasting around 60 minutes. It may be useful to have maintenance treatments on an infrequent basis following this initial course of treatment, and people will often have monthly or six-weekly treatments thereafter.
