MOTHER'S UNION :
We are still active as a group and recently have had a talk on Physiotherapy, knitted vests for “Fish and Chip” babies, so called because they are wrapped in newspaper when born as they have nothing else and we attended a Deanery Festival at Shottery.
On September 24th 2017, our banner, which resides in St Peters Church, was rededicated. A lot of the letters were worn away and the sewing and braid fraying. It was a task beyond our members and very fortunately through contacts with NADFAS (now the Arts Society of Leamington Spa) two lovely and very talented ladies spent many, many hours cleaning and restoring the banner.
We are very, very grateful to them and they said they could tell it was a much loved banner, most probably made by members of the Barford Mother's Union in the 1950s.
Thank you to St Peters Church, the two embroiderers and to the Arts Society.
